@Riot: Do you guys have any ideas on what you're gonna do with enchanters?

Why do I say this? Consider the following points:

  1. The last official enchanter released was Nami. We've had Tahm, a warden, Taric, a re-released warden with a few enchanter bits, Ivern, a catcher that plays jg, and Rakan, a catcher, since then. Nami was released in 2012, and she's the last enchanter that's been released...in five years.

  2. Whenever you guys do work on existing enchanters, it's usually a glorified gutting. Janna's whole mini-rework thing. Soraka went through a laundry list of changes in season 6 that shaved off a ton of power from then to now (reduced max Q range, Q doesn't gain multiple heals per enemy hit, W's base effectiveness without landing Q reduced, no sweet spot in Q anymore). Sona's initial VGU was a glorified gutting...followed by more nerfing. We could keep going but I digress.

  3. Whenever an enchanter is strong, their game play is so generally static that it usually takes Riot manually coming in and nerfing the crap out of that enchanter (or those enchanters) in order for them to get back in line. We see a lot of "needing repeated nerfs" from Janna and Lulu.

  4. The only enchanter that doesn't have the issues described in point 2 or 3...is Nami from 2012. Well, there's Zilean, too...I guess...but man, does that guy even count?

I'm really upset that you guys dropped class updates, because enchanters could sure use it. I doubt you guys have the window to get to each one, and I also doubt we'll be seeing a major VGU project for any of them (since VGUs are how we get the most drastic kit changes in reworks, that's sort of disappointing for someone that'd want to see their champ's kit be more than Arthritis Get: The Game or Face Slam Jam Bam Sim 2018). Is there any word on new developments or new outlooks concerning this subclass?

I think after the fiasco with Ardent Sensor they don't care right now. The next few patches will probably be dedicated to melee fighters and how they interact with the new runes. The Developers are also working on AP itemization and adding a new item I heard.

I have been saying it all along, the problem is the Support role, Enchanters specifically, are not fun. If an entire class of champions have to be defined by how strong enhancing items are, there is a problem with the champions and class. The class is boring and the champions are boring.

Maybe for you they are boring but other people do like that type of play style. I for one prefer it over any kind of hop all over the place hyper mobile character. I personally think that those types of champions are boring.

Enchanter need their own scaling stat, so that their power comes from their kits (improved by scalings) insted from item-actives. I am not saying support-item-actives are bad, I like them, but it feels sometimes like playing an item instead of a champ

Heal/Shield is basically that stat. Doesn't change their game play, though.

But if it was a real stat, and heals/shields just scaled with this stat, some enchanters could have a really good scaling heal or really good base heal. Also their unique parts of their kit could scale with it: movementspeed/slow on nami, ad from janna, movementspeed from karma,... This would create the possibility to create more items that give this stat and enchanter can choose the items that fit best for their champ, team and enemy team, and not what actives/passives are the currently overtuned

Look, man, unless you want to think of a case for EVERY CHAMP IN THE GAME to use this new "cc-oriented" stat, which effects slows/shields/heals/so on, you might want to shut down this idea where it is now. Not trying to be too snappy, but this idea's come and gone and it's as bad as it was when people threw it around like a year ago.

I dont want this stat to generally scale cc, I want that this stat improves the unique parts of enchanter kits, like the unused ap-scalings they already have

If you build Athene's, you can totally utilize those ap scalings.

They are """"""boring""""""" and why would anyone want to play as and with them when mages and tanks do everything better anyways?

On a more serious note, you forgot about Rakan, and how's he's THE "playmaker enchanter". With how Riot handles class reworks, you might need to be careful on what you wish for...

Rakan is considered a catcher by Riot.
