I love Aatrox, but it's impossible to reach his fantasy.

Whenever I play Aatrox, I pump up the in-game Voice volume, crank up some Depressive Metal, and dive into the middle of fights, hitting everything as hard as I can and sustaining off of it until my team has enough morale to jump in with me with everything they have.

So why is it that I always die within 2 seconds even if I build full tank? And why should I sacrifice my fantasy of being a damage-dealing, sustaining vampire demon warrior of death by building so many shields?

Aatrox would be overpowered if he can deal tons of damage AND takes tons of damage. But that's not what I want when I play Aatrox. I want to deal large amounts of sustained damage, and gain large amounts of sustained healing. I don't want him to have the capability to make people explode, and I don't want him to heal tons of HP in an extremely short amount of time (discounting his Passive, of course)

I want to be able to be in the fight, sustain in it, not expect myself to be invincible but still be able to sustain and damage as I need to before I either become a catalytic martyr for my team to start the fight, or the sacrifice that lets them get away.

That's what was advertised with Aatrox's release.

So why is it that we don't have that?

Maybe you should play Olaf, he's the Aatrox that can actually dive into a team and cause problems.

Due to Aatrox's passive, he's made to be a squish ball. I find him to be extremely difficult to play if you're behind at all.

Aatrox gets hit by a CC before delivering a single auto attack

Aatrox dies

Source: Aatrox games

Fix: Permanently extend his auto attack range. Nerf whatever they want to around that.

Because that paradigm literally doesn't work in league. If you're able to sustain through 5 people throwing stuff at you, you can survive anything. Five people throwing stuff at you is a lot of burst, and come lategame, is enough to burst down even the sturdiest of tanks (okay, except maybe alistar).

I did state in the OP that I don't want, or expect him, to be able to be invincible. I want him to be able to initiate a fight and, in the right scenario, 1v2 or even 1v3 with the proper build and level and item advantages. Because right now, it's just so rare that that happens, that it gives me no incentive to feel the desire to play Aatrox because that's what I bought him for in the fist place.

And it hurts because he's such an aesthetically amazing champion, with his voice, and his mood, and his appearance, and even just the way he makes you feel when you play him; the atmosphere that he lends into your gameplay. I just don't feel it anymore. I feel like Aatrox's fantasy is a failure.

item 3165 trololololololol get rekt scrub m9. But to be serious if grievous wounds was completely out of the game aatrox could now be balanced accordingly.

I mean, I do believe Aatrox should get 175 range, his sword is big and he has wings, he should have a natural advantage. But I honestly think he should have a mechanic like for Evelynn ult mixed with Ekko W as one of his abilities.

That actually sounds really good. Some mix of a gapcloser with short-lived tankiness would go very, very far in successfully reaching his fantasy. Even if hit has to be split between two spells (like the way Q and his ult used to be when he was in PBE)

They should buff his passive health regen. even lategame he only heals for like 900~ health, full blood well. not to mention, he's very vulnerable after his revive, and has no bonus attack speed. Even if you try to Q out after your passive, you'll most likely die before you get away.

There's a lot of QoL changes that can be made to put Aatrox in a good spot, that can be done relatively quickly (Passive buff, Q flight fixes, Ult scaling with Health instead of AP)

I hope they address him quickly. At the moment, he's a really hit or miss champ in game, and they never had him in a decent spot. At release, he was OP, now I hardly see Aatrox (besides when I play him) and if he doesn't get ahead, he's behind.

I play a lot of Aatrox.

i think a good buff to aatrox is to make his passive have 60 second cooldown, at all levels

if you do that, boom, instantly top tier pick FIRSTPICK / BAN status across all regions and at worlds

and you arent even increasing his combat power with this buff, all your doing is letting him be at max combat power every fight

also, your essentially making him ungankbale and unkillable in lane

i think this would be amazing for aatrox to get this buff, because while it is kinda "strong as hell omfg"

at the same time, i believe aatrox is a very fun entertaining champ and buffing him to be top tier in the meta is, IMO, really good for the games health

Hopefully he'll get a fiora style... hmm...

I heard at launch he was broken, so i guess this is the aftermath.
