We finally have a successor to Patch 5.4!
So this PBE patch is a thing, and for all of you that loved the great patch that was 5.4 you'll love this one as it stands. Let's just go over how bad this actually is right now:
So, skins. There's a Arcade Riven skin and it looks cool, but it's for Riven. Blitz skin in the Final Boss Theme, same deal. Four pretty decent skins with a school theme, including a schoolgirl Ahri skin. ( ͡° ͜ʖ ͡°)
Overall, pretty good round of skins and it isn't going to give me PTSD like Cottontail Fizz.
Then we get to reworks and balance. This is where the fun ends.
So Darius, everyone's favorite dunkmaster, probably got the least amount of changes. He gets the Veigar Delay™ on his Q but it now heals him on champion hits, W no longer slows attack speed and E no longer pulls people after they flash, but once he gets to insta-stack his passive once he gets 5 stacks on someone and dunking is now free after the first successful dunk (and at rank 3 it's free period). I'm not sure how this one will turn out.
Garen got a total gimmick new passive on his ultimate that makes him do some %maxhp true damage (everyone's favorite gimmick) with his E and R to whoever got the most recent kills on the enemy team. In return, passive got flat nerfed, Q silence got flat nerfed, W got changed to how it used to be(?), stacking armor and MR on CS and kills instead of giving him bonus armor and MR (not sure if a buff or a nerf TBH), and E got changed to scale with level somewhat, but got the old and stupid "slowed when moving through units" replaced with an even dumber condition: slowed when moving towards enemy champions. Overall, unless that true damage is really good, an overall nerf to a weak champion.
Mordekaiser got a set of super neat changes that enable him to go into a duo bot lane (sorta, we'll have to see how well this actually works), including his Q now being a more sustained-damage AA amp, his W healing him and whoever he puts it on and his E also scaling with AD. Oh, and he can make a ghost of the FRICKIN' DRAGON. There's only one slight issue, nothing huge or anything: his W needs an allied champion as a target. In other words, Morde solo-lane just got utterly gutted. Let that sink in.
Skarner is worst off. His old stun is on his E now, but that makes the E's slow redundant. His shield now scales with %maxhp, which is K I guess. An his ult got a mana cost buff. But his Q? GUTTED. It no longer grants movement speed or attack speed. Speaking of movement speed, guess what else got gutted? That's right, Skarner now has a mere 330 base MS, the second worst value in the game! But I'm sure he'll get some great new passive to make up for these nerfs, right? Nope, Skarner now gets his old Q bonuses (along with mana regen) only in around these stones near neutral objectives. That sounds great until you realize that enemies can negate them and get both vision and 30g every time they do, that his ganking power is decimated and that there are already two counterjungling gods (Nunu and Shyvana) and even with this Skarner won't be close to their level.
Now, onto items. MR items got better builds paths, cost slightly less and give slightly more MR across the board. Cool. But armor items....well....all of them are utterly gutted. Frozen Heart? 150 more gold, 10 less armor. Thornmail? 200 more gold and recoil damage is linked to your armor, but the ratio is garbage and now it gets hard-countered by armor reduction (namely Black Cleaver). Randuins? Now reduces crit damage by 10% but everything else got destroyed: cost, armor, health and the active. Warmogs now has a better Garen passive if you have over 3000 health, but since your armor got gutted you'll just take more poke damage from AD poke champs. Righteous Glory lost the Catalyst passive and got a small cost reduction, but this item has already felt the nerfbat. And to top it off, Cinderhulk got annihilated: 100 more health, but the scaling on bonus health is now only 15% compared to the old 25%. There are also two new items (a tank/bruiser version of Hydra and a bruiser item that makes you stronger at low health), but I personally suck at analyzing new items and how they'll affect the meta so yeah.
Discuss.
