Youtubers/RIOT: You need to emphasize the importance of ZONING!
I have watched tons, and tons and tons of videos on tutorials for how to improve at League of Legends, but 90% of the time or better, nobody knows what I'm talking about in game when I say "Just zone them I'm gonna last hit." Then I have to explain what I mean, and then well by the time I'm done explaining I've typed too much for it to matter. They don't try to understand what I meant, put it into action, and see how it can effect the lane phase. The ability to zone is a VERY strong aspect of what separates bad players from decent players, and there just isn't enough emphasis on it. It should be as emphasized as csing properly, teamfighting positioning, and even focusing the carry. Note that this is not just something the support does - it's a concerted effort between the adc and the support. This goes along the lines of winning pokes and csing optimally. This needs a spotlight shown on it. You just don't see it happen in Bronze.
Zoning:_ Keeping the enemy away from their line of experience, where, when one of your minions die, they get experience from it. Additionally, this keeps them out of auto attack range, so they can't get the last hit unless they use a ranged skill on it. _
Learning and applying the principles of zoning can completely keep an enemy out of the game for the lane phase, and knowing how is crucial to climbing. You can't always zone, and whether you can or not determines on the match up, your warding, positioning, and teammate reading capabilities. It's best to be on a voip, but you should be able to tell when to or when not to zone the enemy, and whether or not your teammate knows how by the way they're laning.
It's tiring to try to direct them
