Can Yi's Q not cancel auto attack commands?

Nothing is worse than right clicking on Yi to auto him and duel him than for him to Q and leave you standing there doing nothing because your auto attack command was canceled for no reason. Or if you spam click, you click on the ground and are now walking forward, and if you misclick when he reappears, you walk in a random directoin instead of autoing.

That's why I hate fighting Yi - yes his Q is really disorienting for skillshots and abilities, but it also fucks auto attackers because it basically interrupts their autos, and for a fed Yi, that time is plenty for him to kill you.

I've vsed a lot of Master Yi's that are good and also bad, the last thing he needs is a nerf basically.

A lot of people say he's brain dead but in order to play Master Yi in high elo or at least make him manageable you have to have amazing decision making or you'll die in a few hits honestly.

It's really not a nerf, in high elo this would change nothing. It's only in low elo where we don't notice that we aren't autoing him that it fucks us.

So wouldn't the correct solution be for the lower tier players to just learn how to instead of making an exception for his untargetability versus any other untargetability? Since better players don't have a problem?

Oh come on you cannot be relying on unskilled players to be good.

And we shouldn't balance around trash players being trash.

If >80% of your player base is trash, I would expect it should matter.

I mean seriously, it's not a change that will affect Yi's overall power, not really. Yi isn't Shaco - he doesn't revolve around decieving and mindgaming his enemies - Yi's Q isn't supposed to reduce damage taken from auto attackers (unless he alpha's during the auto's travel time, if it's a projectile), so it's actually a QoL 'nerf'...

But see, even if Yi was an issue and this nerf would fix him, that's not even the issue.

The whole reason you drop autoattack or other targeting is because he goes untargetable. It's the exact same as Fizz or Vlad or others. The only reason it feels different is because Yi turns into a blur instead of just still being there but semi-transparent or on a pole. Which makes it feel like you dropped in a different way.

You're asking to make an exception to untargetability for one champion.

I'd like it to do the same with the others, too. If Fizz E's away and I was autoing him, I should automatically start chasing him. Same with Vlad and Yi.

The biggest difference is that Yi is almost always in a position where you are able to auto him (aka he Q'd you), while Fizz and Vlad could've moved away, so it doesn't make such a huge difference, or with Zhonya's you could've moved away. But if Yi is gonna spawn on top of me and start autoing me instantly, I see no reason why I can't auto him instantly as well. It's also harder to see where he is, compared to Fizz and Vlad, and thus harder to click on him afterwards.

Just let me target him with auto's while he's invisible/untargetable, I won't start auto'ing until he becomes targetable again, but I'll move in his direction and auto him the moment he gets to auto me. If Yi can spam right click on ME when he's in his Q, I should be able to do the same.

State of untargetability literally means they do not exist to your cursor to be targeted. There is nothing to chase because there is nothing for you to see to chase, in terms of the most root-level logic.

I get the gist of what you're trying to say. But it is literally counterintuitive to targeting and untargetability. It's basically the exact same case as if you're COMPLETELY alone in midlane. And then suddenly Kassadin blinks in over a wall into your face. You're not going to be suddenly targeting him the moment he appears. Because he literally DID NOT EXIST there before he did his ultimate blink.

But... there is something to see, with Fizz and Vlad.

I mean, just a touch up on Yi's Q animation so you know where he'll be (and how big his hitbox is) when he lands so you don't misclick would help, along with clarity.

Yes, YOU as a Summoner get to see it because otherwise it'd be unfair they become invisible altogether for balance purposes. But for the purposes of gameplay and to your champion within the Summoner's Rift from their perspective, the untargetable champion is literally uninteractable.

It's like if a human tried to punch a ghost for example (with this theoretical situation assuming they're real, which they're probably not but w/e). They literally couldn't interact at all. Sure, you MIGHT be able to see them (or you might not even be able to see them), but you can't do anything at all.

For all effective purposes, they are not there, because they can't interact with you either directly. The only way they could still semi-interact for example is Vlad's pool sustaining him through Zhonya's. But no direct interactions.

As far as I'm concerned, what I as a Summoner see is the important part.

Yi literally becomes invisible during his Q, although not to you (the ability makes Yi invisible + untargetable), since you can see his Q particles/animation. While that looks cool and all, an indicator of where Yi is, like how you can still see Fizz and Vlad when they're untargetable, would really help with clicking on him quickly.

MissingKayo1 votes

Uh, you're still not getting it.

Your champion in the game wouldn't see Yi during his Alpha, except maybe just a blur/sparks flying. They wouldn't be able to effectively see Fizz or Vlad either.

You said "an indicator of where Yi is". That doesn't apply. Yi is literally not there at all during his Alpha.

Then... how do you explain being able to see Fizz and Vlad?

MissingKayo1 votes

It's called thematic differing from balance? If you couldn't see them at all when they can move around freely (while Yi is locked to the same spot where he started pretty much), especially in Vlad's case, that'd be unfair.

Or, just click him again?

Yi always appears in front of his first target he targeted the initial Q cast with (his front), unless he kills the target. If he kills the target, he reappears at the start location he casted from.

That's harder than you make it sound, dude.

His Q makes him untargetable, so no.

Just like when someone uses zhonya before an auto, the auto will fizzle. Same with yi/fizz

That's not the point, the point is that after he comes out of untargetability I should start auto'ing him instantly...
