I don't think we're ever fixing support as a role

Why? Simple:

Normal circumstance: People avoid support so much we have auto-fill to MAKE people play it.

When someone says "Support needs fixes so we can stop with this auto-fill bullshit": A shit ton of salty ass support players come out of the woodwork to drop their two cents on why the role's just FANTASTIC.

First step to solving a problem is admitting you have a problem, guys. You can't get anywhere if you're not willing to go, so how are we going to really pin point what could be done about the role when starting a conversation about the issue in and of itself is so hard?

Im just an average or below casual player, just started playing again after a year or so and ive pretty much spent every game as support. I dont really see to many problems with it except maybe the gold income could be increased a tad. Would like to see what others say why they hate it etc. The only real problem i usually have is rage quitters who over extend and die or i die trying to protect them from their mistake. Sometimes ill do some pretty stupid stuff and die once then some adc are like omg we lose GG newb/rage quit. If i die once i will become play as safe as possible, however when i can be 1-2 shot under my turret i cant really help it if im not a tank.

I play very aggressive which is punished now by the entire opposing team coming to our lane and trying to wreck us. So i have had to dial it back some to compensate and slowly win lane.

Plenty of support mains (Former support main, myself) have admitted, and will continue to admit, that the role is bantha fodder right now for a plethora of reasons.

The fact that too many supports feel boring overall is why the bot lane has been seeing plenty of changes (mage supports, ziggs carry, etc).

ziggs is trash bot lane. just a different version of ez. go leo and bam he is dead or runs out of mana. either dive him or play a poke person and 0 issues i never understood why people thought it was op.....i invented j4 support and malz support. do not give me that crap on lcs did it....i have been doing it since they reworked him........ i saw the potential with him. i try not to play him due to the nerf on summoning voidlings which was your counter engage or disengge

and people didnt complain about having to be autofilled or supporting. 3 seasons of that i played and very little did people complain

It's not that people didn't complain more than "them's the ropes". People complained a crap ton about being forced into off-positions game after game, then being rated as if they're in their best position. Like, if you're a mid main, and there's no solid way to GET mid, is that really ideal for you to play ranked in?

This system keeps you at your relative best most of the time. Riot's initial plans never even had auto-fill. THEN they tried having the option to auto-exclude one role while preffing two roles. This current system is the best compromise unless we get a more stable support population.
