Tahm Kench and Illaoi

Gather around my sweet summer children I will regale you with the tale of how the River Monster came to be the horror he is today It all started one day when Rito games released a wild catfishfrogthing that had some interesting abilities. After the summoners had played him, they concluded that since they weren't getting easy pentakills that he must be underpowered! And so all the summoners wept on the boards about how bad tahm was and how much he needed buffs to even be played! There was even a period of time where nobody played Tahm, they thought he was that bad. Patch after patch, Riot lords listened and caved in to the demands, and bit by bit brought up the terrible beast that is now Tahm Kench Now, all thanks to the clueless summoners, Tahm Kench, the River Terror chunks full HP mundo's to half health, stuns them right and left, and erases allies mistakes without dying because of his thick skin. This catfishfrogthing terrorized worlds 2015, winning games right and left, erasing positioning mistakes with the click of a button. Legends say he still terrorizes the rift to this day!

Now, this thread isn't a Tahm Kench complaint thread at all. Rather, I want to share this story to all the summoners who might think that Illaoi is underpowered and needs buffs.

Give it some time.

With Tahm Kench, people immmediately assumed that he needed buffs, and cried until they got them. With Illaoi, we just don't know the successful strategies yet. They will develop in time.

What I say is this: Don't make Illaoi a repeat of Tahm Kench, give it some time before determining balance

Ridiculous AP ratios and safety? That reminds me of another relatively new champion... Ekko

Honestly, I'm of the (probably unpopular) opinion that they need to hold off on all the new stuff until they go back and fix some of their mistakes.

This is actually so true. Champs kind of end up being considered weak and unviable until they're buffed to the point of being oppressive. It's not even Riot's fault too. If they listen to the community in regards to balance, then a huge chunk hate it afterwards. If they don't listen, then they get raged at for not listening to the community.

Tricky business, working at Rito games is.
