Xayah+Rakan seems like the strongest pick botlane now

Even stronger than Ashe+Leona or Caitlyn+Morgana.

I hope that their interactions get nerfed, and not the respective champions first. I don't want one of them dumpstered because they're strong together.

Unless that, for instance, Xayah is vastly out performing other ADCs.

The problem is not that they are good together, they are made that way, but Xayah is considered the strongest ADC by many challenger coaches and even tracking sites.

Rakan is ok-ish by itself with a random adc, but Xayah is still very strong without Rakan.

I love Xayah, but I want her nerfed, not gutted, but nerfed. She was good since release, and to be honest, beside Kai'sa, which was just released, Xayah was the most balanced champion on release (Rakan was a bit weak at release), but she got buffed because so many considered her weak, because why wouldn't they? New champ, new mechanic to keep track of, people fed, people cried, Riot buffed, but other ADC were still better than her as people were still learning her, and guess what? People finally understood her, and she's the best ADC in-game (Sounds familiar? Ornn anyone?)

Xayah needs a small nerf to herself, on her E precisely, not her W (maybe that can be a bit touched as well, but her main issue is how much dmg her E deals) along general ADC item nerfs. She doesn't need major nerfs, just minor ones along ADC general nerfs and she's ok. She will still be strong with Rakan, but they won't be the best lane anymore. They can level 1 all in and kill anyone caught by Grand Entrance except for Morgana's ADC or blow 2 to 4 of the enemy summoners. (Morgana's can Q Rakan and prevent him from hitting the W, or root him after if she's not fast enough, but if she hits after, the ADC still has to blow one or both the summoners).

So yes, Xayah is vastly outperforming all other ADCs.

The issue comes from Rakan gaining more when with Xayah, than vice versa. He loses extra range on his E and AS bonus, while Xayah doesn't lose out on anything. Wish they kept the interaction when Rakan leaves a feather when paired with Xayah. If it was too strong they could have made it so that he only leaves if him and Xayah hit their Q's in 1 second of each other on the same target.

IP Masquerena2 votes

That's part of the issue why he is mostly picked only along a Xayah and very rarely with someone else, but that still doesn't excuse the fact that Xayah is too strong right now.

I am not a Xayah main, but I love playing her, as she's cute, but I do want her nerfed, and that should say something, if even those who like playing her feel she needs nerfs (well, excluding the bronzies or others with bronzie mentality that act "she's fine, you lost to her because you're trash, not because she's too strong").

She was fun at release, made it so that both groups had to play around her feathers, but now, that interaction is kinda taken away because she does so much damage even without 3 feathers on E. Right now, her E needs slight nerfs, and maybe her shared W, but what she really needs is the adc items toned down, otherwise, it will keep being a "nerf X, Y becomes the best, nerf Y, Z becomes top tier" because in the end, it doesn't really matter who the picked ADC is as long as he can nuke faster than the enemy ADC, there is no more lane fluidity. "Hey, they have a Lucian Thresh lane, need to be careful not to get hooked" is still there, but..."Oh, I got hooked? No worries, Janna/Lulu/Rakan will shield me and the enemy just can't burst me fast enough, then I burst them".

If the support isn't resident sleeper and the Xayah has basic game knowledge or is equally good as the other ADC player in terms of skill, she wins lane.

I main her and i'll play her anytime, anywhere, if i want to. Check your sources?

Acheron161 votes

That's my personal problem with this combo.

Xayah is strong by herself, while Rakan honestly feels weak when playing without her, since the double E range is MASSIVE, compared to his base one.

When Rakan plays solo, he loses a lot of safety, when Xayah plays solo, she loses a tiny bit of damage from her W that 90% doesn't get procced because Rakan rarely has time to AA.

You're pretty in-accurate in quite a lot of your statements. You're spreading mis-information for what is seemingly the sake of it.

Xayah is recommended by a large quantity of Challenger Coaches due to the level of Nuance and flexibility her kit brings. She's a CC machine as well as a late-game powerhouse. She has always been recommended as a good ADC to pick up as she's a very solid pick. There is no denying she is strong right now (3rd highest win-rate adc at 51%), but she has ALWAYS been a recommended pick.

Xayah has never been directly buffed, and little to no one considered her weak upon release. Rakan was considered weak because he WAS weak on release, but once his Q range was upped and people discovered his near 1750 engagement range he shot up to being so relevant he required a nerf.

Since her release Xayah has only had 8 adjustments to her kit.

The other 2 were direct nerfs to her kit, with Double Daggers losing it's ability to AA mid animation, a CD increase on her W. 1 was a semi-revert on the Double Daggers nerf, making her Q-AA cancel scale down with Bonus AS. Albeit it was a direct nerf overall still as it is now impossible to recreate the original effect.

The other 5 were buffs that were not just applied to Xayah, but rather every champion in the game. A) All champions gaining 0.5 Magic resist scaling, and B) the adjustments to Base AD Scaling and Base stats in Season 8 Pre-season, which again, all champions received in some form.

Lastly Rakan and Xayah's all-in is not applicable at level 1, as Xayah powerspikes at level 2 when she gains access to her E. Rakan W AA + Xayah Q AA AA =/= both or frankly any summoners blown if the enemy is capable enough.

I think the one with bad info here is you. Xayah doesn't start Q when paired with Rakan, but W. Trust me, I do this all the time with a friend who's a support main, and guess what? If he hits the W, the target either dies and/or blows summoners, as Rakan has ignite. Try it if you don't believe me, the W shared is too strong at early levels, that's why I said the interactions should be slightly nerfed. if you never tried it, don't say it's not applicable. The damage they got together is too high for anyone to stand at level 1. Some Rakan's go Unsealed Spellbook and take both Exhaust and Ignite at the start, thus guaranteeing a first blood or summoners blown. Again, try it before saying it's impossible, as I assure it is quite easy to do and get kills.

And Xayah was considered UP at release, have you even checked the forums back then?

Jinx has a slightly better winrate by 0.08%, Twitch has indeed a better winrate by a bit more, almost 1%, but look at playrate and ban rate as well, Xayah has 10.61% playrate and a 2.87% banrate, while Twitch has a play rate of 3.29% with a banrate of 0.45%, according to champion.gg, that's a 3.2 times more playrate, so we can safely assume that the almost 1% he has over her in winrate is because of the massive pickrate she has over her.

I start q... then e because the root is easier, as u get 2 feathers out then a once. when i play Rakan. I start q, then w because the poke they give when u miss ur w.

IP Masquerena1 votes

I'll comment in only one place, since I won't bother to say the same thing twice.

Xayah does start Q, when paired with any other support that's not named Rakan, and Rakan starts Q as well when paired with any other adc that's not named Xayah, but when together, they both start W because of the kill potential. Who cares about a poke, when I can kill you? See the difference? I don't need to poke you when I will 100-0 you the instant you step wrong, or at least, blow almost all the summoners your lane has and kill you the next wrong step? Sources? Well, besides high elo streamers where I saw it, read about it, and even tested it myself with friends, yes, it's valid.

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=WzrEkGPjiGM that's one source where a challenger coach puts Xayah on the pedestal.

This level 1 kill will fail occasionally when you play it with randoms, especially at low elos, but when you do it with a duo partner, that knows what he has to do, then it's almost impossible to fail. The fun part is, the lower your elo is, the easier it is to do, because just like your bad mentality "start Q on both for poke", that's what the others will expect as well, because they don't even know of these plays, they don't watch high elo game play, they only watch the entertaining things, like NB3's AP Pantheon, etc, so when you do it to them, they don't expect it.

High elo players, like Masters and Challengers dodge games when Xayah and Rakan are paired together, because they know how strong this play is, so that lane would be hard to win without jg camp. You risk stepping wrong even at level 1 and dying, or you let Xayah free farm, it's a loss-loss. Things like those don't happen in low elo because players don't know how to abuse such factors.

Source? https://www.twitch.tv/videos/239456855 You'll find about it here as well, I can't find the streams where people actually dodged on such a lane, but I'll keep looking. (You can use that stream to learn a bit about the game)

Well, she is...

You are correct. My thoughts are to make zeal items unique so adcs get nerfed

They are meant to be strong together but the problem is that Xayah is amazing on her own

Concussive DJ Sona & PROJECT: Jhin. Daft Punk OP. Jhin Gin & Tonic Taric. Also OP.

But yeah, they are a couple. If they weren't strong together there'd be a problem. Xayah seems to be pretty strong on her own, though, as I play her sometimes without Rakan(mainly cause I'm single) and do pretty well. They're also just really cute together so why would you play anyone else?

ViciousSummoner2 votes

They're supposed to be strong together. They just might be doing a whole lot better now because other champions have fallen out of favor, and people are just now starting to pick up on the play style. They were probably always this strong since the start of the season, but may have just remained under the radar because of other picks.

I like to think that Xayah's W interaction with Rakan isn't helping matters, especially when her W's already a powerful steroid to begin with.

Alistar Lucian is the strongest early botlane ive seen this meta.

Xayah Rakan cant compare early.

TempName748141 votes

they have been for a while. they're kinda designed to be that way

Karfuss1 votes

Xayah was always up there with the best of them, to be fair. Her ult makes her a staple pick in high ELO/pro play. She's strong without Rakan, and she is never a bad pick in any match up.

Rakan is just piggybacking. The increased range is a deceptively huge buff, and he makes the other pigeon more obnoxious to deal with. Other than that he wishes he was as good as Alistar.

Kirisomia1 votes

tbh, lotion Lucian and rakan isnt bad either. the knockup and charm plus lotion dash and ulti/double hit works fine

Jerry SeinfeId1 votes

Xayah is retarded. rakan makes her even dumber.

Rakan is fine tho.

Jeanne fan club1 votes

Its kind of a predicament. Either they are balanced as independent champions and are insanely op together, or they are balanced as a pair and are utter garbage alone.

Acheron161 votes

Just remove their kit interaction which each other. The kits already have a lot of synergy, not need to make them numerically better when playing with each other.

Why in Nagakeiboros' name does Rakan's shield dash have DOUBLE the range when targetting Xayah? Why does it have to be so bad without her yet so strong with her?

ashe leona... caitlyn morgana??

what year are you living in

Elohaven1 votes

Year where one Caitlyn headshot takes half of your HP

meowwow71 votes

one thing i realize in those match ups if you have any aoe cc, or champ following abilities attach them to the rakan after he burns w because everyone i see immediately e back to xayah after doing that which makes things like a zilean q, naut ult, or even a bard q lethal to them

RenownedWheat421 votes

Leona Alistar Morgana are all good matchups into Rakan, and the duo in particular.

Dyzur1 votes

IMO I think an MF + Alistar would be good. Especially if you know the alistar.

Ahri Baka1 votes

The main problem with Xayah is her ult , it makes her so strong

Colton1471 votes

Better buff Janna to make her take her place as #1 support again.
