What was the plan for Malz

What was the point of the rework?

I seriously don't understand what sort of niche he's suppose to be filling now. Post rework he does less dps and much less burst in exchange for....this stupid passive and easier creep clearing. What? I really don't understand this philosophy of trying to remove gold from the equation for champ strength. Before if you got ahead as Malz you could really shut a lane down with your damage. Now? It doesn't really matter if you win or lose lane cause the only thing you can do effectively is clear creeps. You can be 400 AP above your lane opponent and you still won't have the burst to kill them so you're relegated to just...pushing. Why Riot. I don't fucking understand. Why would you make him more one dimensional and just less interesting to play.

the rework made a lot of needless changes that nerfed malzahar from an anti-assassin into an objective focused farm jungler incapable of ganking unless his laner is a DPS or the enemy laner is very low.

Giving him a better passive (like an innate spellblade that scaled with AD, and utilized his dagger) and turning the voidlings into a toggle-able ability would have been great changes that were meaningful - even could justify the nerfed Q and lowered ratios on Q/E.

And by toggle-able ability, i mean they would reserve mana (reduce your maximum mana) per voidling, and you would get a new voidling every 2 ranks (1, x, 3, x, 5) which raised the cost to something very high like 600 mana. Give him voidlings with 0.6AD (that scales up from 0.2) and have their own stats mostly independent of yours.

I mean... just... a spell blade passive that scaled throughout the game would have been such a great change... or hell, remove voidlings entirely because while very fun they werent something we wanted his entire kit based on.
