Some interesting early stats on LeBlanc, and thoughts
The clear intent of the 5.11 changes (slower W missile speed and thinner E missile width) to LeBlanc was to open more room for counterplay against her without actually reducing her theoretical damage output. Personally, I think this is a good general direction for LeBlanc. This got me to wondering how LeBlanc's winrate as a function of player skill compares before and after the change. Well, today is the first day that lolking has data after the change, so although the statistics aren't that great yet, let's just compare 6/9 to 6/10 (note Master+ is probably strongly influenced by sample size):
6/9 Bronze: 47.4% Silver: 48.5% Gold: 48.7% Platinum: 48.8% Diamond: 48.2% Master+: 48.3%
6/10 Bronze: 44.8% Silver: 42.6% Gold: 43.9% Platinum: 43.0% Diamond: 42.7% Master+: 40.2%
In general, LeBlanc's winrate used to increase slightly with player skill; now, it mostly drops. In other words, it used to be that as players got more skilled, the increasing skill of the LeBlanc player mattered a little more than the ability of opponents to play around LeBlanc. Now, the opposite seems to be true. So, it seems clear to me that Riot succeeded (perhaps too well?) in creating counterplay.
I'd be interested to hear people's thoughts about 1. whether you like the philosophy behind these changes and 2. whether you think Riot may have gone too far (the W missile speed being probably the more controversial change). I'd particularly be interested to hear from anyone who's played with/against LeBlanc since the changes and can offer thoughts as to the changes in difficulty of playing with/against her.
Aside: I'm purposefully avoiding the specific question of whether LeBlanc is now underpowered since she was clearly good before despite her low-ish winrate, and I expect that her numbers might rebound a bit as LeBlanc players get used to judging when it's no longer safe to W in. The trend in her numbers is really what interests me.
