Doran's Shield and Ninja Tabi, very underrated items

Why do people not buy these more? I buy these probably in 1/3rd of my games as any champion except ADC

Doran's shield gives HP regen greater than about half the roster, to anybody. Plus a free +80 HP. And that 8 damage off of all Single target attacks AND single target spells cannot be forgotten.

For example. Vs pantheon that is not only reducing every spear by 8 damage, but lets you regen about 8hp back between each spear. In a matchup vs Riven that reduces the value of her basic attacks and by proxy her passive by a huge amount.

Then if you follow up a Doran's shield with a Ninja Tabi. That is 30 Armor on boots you were going to buy anyway, and 12% reduction to all basic attack damage. Stacked onto the 8 reduction from Doran's when facing Yasuo or Camille or Riven or Darius you can reduce their total damage early game to nearly nothing, and it still offers decent protection into late game until you sell Doran's shield for items.

And I know the boards "But ranged matchups Doran's shield doesn't offer enough." 8 damage off of every 80 damage basic attack from say Quinn or Jayce is now 72 damage. Say they attack you 5 times in 15 seconds. That is 400 damage vs 360+ the 6 per 5 seconds over 15 seconds which is 18 meaning instead of losing 400 HP you lost 342. That value only goes up the longer the game goes on. the thing about items like these is they payoff the longer you are in lane, and the longer you have them in game.

Now I agree! Doran's shield might need a small melee only vs range buff. Like "Champions with melee attacks take 10 damage reduced from ranged attacks instead of 8, and take 2 reduced damage from minion attacks." Which means that number up there would go down further especially since a single volley of minion shots would be reduced by 12, or 14 for a cannon wave. If only one wave is present.

But overall, I see people ignoring these extremely valuable items. For example I have seen Darius take Corrupting potion into Riven when Adrian Riven himself says that is inviting a level 1 all in from Riven, where as Doran's shield Darius is not vulnerable in the first few levels.

And ninja Tabi is only all the better. Taking those 200 damage Yasuo crits early game and between the armor and both items reducing them by 32-38(depending on armor) is nearly a quarter of the crit.

And both work on Camille's true damage as it is a basic attack modifier btw.

And the often forgotten part of Doran's shield is it also works on single target spells. So believe it or not it even helps when mages gank you or attack you in team fights.
