Countering Yasuo [Easy Guide]

People find Yasuo so hard to counter low elos. On the boards, all I've heard is complaints about how he needs a nerf. How am I a Teemo main(and Teemo is useless this season), and I find Yasuo such an easy match-up?

He's not and if you're trying to counterpick, I recommend you just bring CC and a champ that can control lanes easily. Why? This is how you counter a Yasuo player.

Yasuo's monstrosity is based on his controller's skill and mindset. So utilize this to your advantage and think about what the player might be trying to do to outplay you.

Yasuo's main skill is his E - his dash! PUNISH HIM for this. Yasuo players know that his Q and W only need 1 level in them to be utilized efficiently as his E allows for the outplays. They love to be able to control lane. Do not give them this opportunity.

Here's how to stop them.

1. Control your lane at all times. If Yasuo is pushing, punish him by contacting your jungler or kiting him. His only ranged attack is his Q's third strike so he can't do much. You can dodge it easily as it takes about 1.5 seconds to travel 300-400 units. Also, DO NOT GET CLOSE TO YOUR MINIONS. Yasuo players love when enemy minions are abundant as that allows for a lot of dashing and out playing. Also, he can make a tornado around himself that's undodgeable if you're close to him - thus an easy ult.

2. Yasuo's Q counts as an autoattack when it is not stacked. Like Nasus' Q or Garen's Q - you CAN STOP THIS. With Teemo, I blind him to deny him his stacks. His Q is very fast so you want to deny him when you think he's going to go for another stack so his timer to stack his Q runs out. CC ruins any Yasuo player.

3. Do not let him farm. Yasuo is a monster farmer - guaranteed. He will farm even when he's under tower due to his E doing enough damage to last hit enemy minions under it. So, let him be close to your tower. Let him push. And punish him for that. Freeze lane right before your tower and always, always force this thinking on him:

4. Should I go for a CS increase and take some damage or should I let him farm a bit and lose some CS.

Scare him into taking damage every time he comes to kill a minion.

4. Use autoattacks to break his shield. "OH MY GOD, YASUO'S SHIELD IS SO OVERPOWERED AND BROKEN, I HATE IT." As I said, stop his E - you stop Yasuo's entire kit. His E allows his flow to increase giving him his shield. Don't allow this. Force most of your minions to stay close to your tower so he can only get to them by dashing into your tower.

Also, his shield will go away from a champion's autoattack. Then use your abilities to damage him.

5. Do not fear his Q. His tornado is the only way for him to ult if there are no knock-ups for him. It's rare for teams to be synergized like this and Yasuo is literally a risky champion. If he falls behind, he'll quickly be useless. Most of his damage comes from autoattacks actually as his Q only does his AD + 20 damage. His W also doesn't negate attacks like Viktor's laser, Cassitopea's bubble thingy, Karthus Q, etc. You get it.

6. If he begins to roam, notify your team and push lane quickly so he has to come back. Ward your jungle to get vision and try to follow him if he wants to roam. If he thinks he can 2v1 your mid-laner or bot lane, make it 2v1, 3v2, something unfavorable. Oh by the way, don't huddle together when Yasuo is around. That can also be abused with his E-Q combo.

7. TL;DR Don't let too many minions be in his vicinity. Kite him. Shutdown his E and he's easy game with CC.
