A few things I have to say about this.

The following list is what I have to say about these, you can just go to that number if you care. Or if you want to read the whole thing be my guest.

1: What these champions indicate.

2: Reasons why these champions are super strong.

3: Direction the game is headed.

  1. What the champions that were mentioned up top indicate is that currently sitting the old "late game" champions like GP, Nasus, Vayne, Kog. Are super strong with the other late game champions trailing not far behind. For Top Kayle and Vlad are trailing right behind GP and Nasus. (tbf Vlad is strong early and super strong late. So it really isn't fair to call him a late game champion?) For ADC Twitch and Xayah are trailing right behind Vayne and Kog. (I'm pretty sure Xayah is more of an early game champion that scales well into the late game because of her own self peel?)

This means that everyone is getting to late game much quicker than previously. (Everyone but mid lane and jungle?) Due to that fact that Kog, Vayne, Nasus, and GP hit late game earlier now. The game has become get a pick to win the game late game or just outscale the enemy team to win or win really hard early game. Moving onto mid, jungle, and support. Jungle is currently run by the duelist. People who can invade and take the enemies jungle and apply massive lane pressure, which is funny because Shv is third on the list. But a good shv can apply a good amount of pressure. Mid is a mess, tbh I don't know what Kata, Fids, Malz, and A Sol all have in common. I see a similarity between the fact that three of them have massive CC somewhere in the kit. But Kata? She might just be overpowered, but then you also have vlad right after that as well. So mid isn't one distinct thing right now. Its either bring tons of undodgable damage or tons of near undodgable CC. Finally support. Support is being run by all engaging champions. Taric, Janna, Alistar, Sion, Leona, Thresh, Blitz, Rakan. There is only one outlier in this list. Its janna who can peel all of those champions other than blitz. But removing that one outlier. Its about bringing CC down to bot and engaging a bunch or disengaging to turn it around for your hyper carries.

  2. Why are these champions all very strong. Well we all know why Nasus, GP, Vayne, and Koggles are strong. I don't need to talk about them. Lets talk about the less frequently mentioned champions here. Aurelion Sol, Malzahar, Taric, Janna, Evelynn, and Udyr. Starting with the mid going over to support and finishing with jungle.

Aurelion Sol and Malzahar end up sort of doing the same job. Just extremely different paths. Aurelion Sol in the hands of a player that is infinitely better than me on that champion. He will roam bot or top and get kills repeatedly. In short he becomes the support for both Top and Bot lane. He can do it as fast as he can shove out the waves mid. Malzahar does the same thing. But he does it on a ulti timer, while still being a massive threat to mid lane. He also makes it near impossible for the enemy mid to roam when he roams. Both champions are extremely good at denying roams and roaming faster or better than the counter parts. Taric and Janna both have extremely powerful ulti's. Taric turns a engage into a "Get the fuck out, we fucked up." and Janna turns a engage into a "Fucking Janna, stopped the CC train on Kog who just auto'd Our Full tank Shen three times and killed him." Both have really good disengage potential. That is why these two are extremely strong picks right now, while the rest of the supports are all about engaging. It isn't fair to say that Taric can't engage, but the thing that makes him better than the other engaging support is his disengage ulti. Evelynn and Udyr. They both have dumb amounts of damage. One applies pressure on all lanes, while being able to counter jungle. The other can be in a lane that just lost or is about to lose before you realize it. Both have massive map presence. While still being able to fight every other jungler in skirmishes. What makes these two better than everyone else. Evelynn has invisibility after 6. With a charm that is easily triggered. She is still a threat early game as well because vision isn't fully up. Udyr is strong because he runs around the map doing whatever he needs. He can double stun a target that is over extended. If the laner has some CC Udyr is going to get a kill with a double stun. While also moving around the map at the speed of light.

  3. Direction in which the game is headed. There is two ways this is going to go. The first the game design team stops. Gets fired. Then we go back to the league of nerfs. OR This trend continues and we have a worse meta than right now. Its hard to say exactly what the game design team will unnecessarily buff to make it broken. Like Nasus R. Or Indirect buff with GP R bug. (Which was just fixed after way too long). Or reduction in gold cost for a whole class for items. 200 or 300 gold for three core items. But just let it be known. That if you don't play that one champion or that one class. You will be fucked by it. While they will continue to leave mechanically hard champion in the trash. Riot has changed their view on mechanically hard champions because of pro play. Azir doesn't even get picked anymore. Which is one of the harder champions in pro play. But at the same time, in solo queue he is sitting at a 47.55% win rate. Actually much better than I thought. Fine I guess I have to bring Ryze into this. Ryze who is 100% better in Pro play. Had a 36% win rate at worlds. 50% on Faker. While in Solo Queue, he has been sitting at around 45% (+/- 1%) for nearly a year now. (Since patch 7.4 or 7.6). Ryze isn't mechanically hard. The only thing hard about him is decision making. Which is an NA problem anyways. Any buffs that they give ryze makes him overpowered in Proplay because of his ulti. While any nerfs they give him in will make him unplayable in solo queue. Ryze is in a state of chaos because of his ulti. Riot won't address it either. So in short be preped for some new bullshit. If I am right its about to head back over to mage meta. Since the game design team did talk about working on AP items. *Cough* still waiting, haven't seen or read any news about those since they spoke about it months ago.

PLEASE IF YOU DISAGREE. ACTUALLY WRITE A FUCKING STATEMENT. DON'T JUST FUCKING DOWNVOTE THIS SHIT YOU TROLLY LITTLE SHITS <3

I wouldn't include Udyr and Aurelion Sol. Their pick rates are incredibly low meaning it's probably only their mains that play them.

I mentioned they were already considered outliers. In their own ways. But overall I mean I wanted to leave it as accurate without changing the conditions for the statements.

Before this continues on right now, I have a question for you, should this game be balanced around solo queue or pro play?

Theorex1 votes

Its like asking. Should the game be balanced around 99.9999% of the people playing it. Or the .0001%.

Even when looking at other things. I Think It should be balanced around Solo Queue Diamond 2+. Its the closest middle group to pro play, while leaving the solo queue aspects of the game in.

Alright, then we need to buff things like Yasou, Yi, and Try, all champions low elo players collectively find annoying, these champions now become strong, players are upset what then?

I disagree completely, the game should be balanced around the MAJORITY of the players, what you say is the same thing as the rich saying that laws should be made to focus on their gain.

By balancing around the majority of the players that will also still effect the top players in more positive ways while making the larger player base happy and keep them around longer.

I cant understand the purpose of this post. Yeap, the meta now revolves around late game scaling a lot. Some time ago meta revolved around early game stomping. There was a time where poke comps were the meta and a time were team-fight comps were the meta. The meta continuously changes. There is a prominent meta at one time which is strong. Then a team brings out a team-comp that counters the previous meta and it becomes prominent. Then another comp emerges that beats the second one and it takes its place. And thats how it goes on. They are all affected by the buffs-nerfs on its patch. You might now like how things are now, but you liked how it was some time ago. Someone else likes how the meta is not but didnt like the previous one. You can just keep everyone satisfied. And its not RIOT and the balance team that form the meta. They affect it but dont form it. The meta is created around what can work better at each elo and its formed by players. And RIOT tries to balance everything both for high and low elos. But its not so easy. Take for example Kata, that you mentioned. In low elos is is hard stomping. In higher elos she is a low priority pick and not nearly as strong, unless she hard stomps early. So what should they do? If you nerf her hard, she will stop hard stomping low elos but will just vanish from higher elos. If you buff her, she will stomp low elos even harder and will be brought to a better position in higher ranks. What would you do to try and keep everyone happy? The meta that has been prominent for season 1, 1 top, 1 jungle, 1 mid, 1 ADC and 1 support was also created by pro (mostly) players because it served 2 things. The first thing was that it maximized the farm for the team. 3 people that absorb the full farm from the 3 lanes, 1 player that absorbed all the farm from jungle and 1 who relied on gold-income items. The 1 in the mid would mostly be a mage with CC and wave clear, somewhat changed through the years, because mages with their abilities can be self reliant. The ADC came about because AD champions, except of assassins dont have high burst damage, but have a lot of consistent damage. Then the support was the one with the utility. It was all formed by players not RIOT, along with every meta that existed and will exist in the future.

Also Ryze has been a problem since his release. Buff him slightly and he hard stomps, nerf him slightly and he will stop existing. You may say he isnt mechanically hard. He is not easy either. Ryze has too many skill rotations he can do and its one depends on what you want to do. Not 100% difficulty but neither like 0. And its not only his ulty that makes him difficult. The scalings on his skills are also a problem.
