Nasus buff on PBE and possible outcomes of it

ThePikol··4 votes·6,502 views

So Nasus is getting buffed on PBE. When he's in R his Q get's 50% cdr. It's additional cdr, if Nasus already have 45% ( Q on 2.2s cd) his Q will be on 1.1s cd. What are possible outcomes of this?

  • it's too broken. gets reverted
  • It goes live. Dmg is not problem on him, he kills squishes fast either way so the buff stays
  • it goes live. Riot decides it's too op and revert it
  • it goes live. Riot decides it's too op. Nerfs Nasus. He's worse than before buff

What do you think will happen?

It goes live. It does sweet fuck all because people already mobility creep away when he pops ult.

i think nasus will be strong late game and indirectly weaker early-mid because E has no more flat shred

and if nerfs are needed i would rather they keep his late game power and nerf his early, probably to his E since it's not a very interactive spell and lets him bypass lanes that would other counter him. I want Nasus to be a hypercarry

When you think of Nasus being weak/not viable, what are the issues? And what are his supposed strengths (why he would be picked in a comp as a win condition)? He is tanky juggernaut but has pretty weak early-mid game. His sustain (and damage) is dependent on auto attacks unless you are AP Nasus maxing E, and he offers little in teamfights if you cannot get multiple Qs off, unless it's late-game of course. W needs to be reworked if you ask me. It's archaic and is mostly meant for lane/dueling. His passive is OK but I wouldn't mind a reworked passive either. As previously mentioned, his passive lifesteal requires auto attacks, and lifesteal isn't too great unless you do a lot of damage on your autos which is basically linked to Q stacks. He has no hard CC and is weak vs short trades. Nasus needs longer trades/all-ins and doesn't do too well when getting ganked. At least Darius Illaoi can outplay a gank and have teamfight presence.

Now onto the buffs. I suspect they will help him with split-pushing duels (and taking towers) what with empowered Q + item 3078 . His new E may actually be maxed 1st, even though there are Max E builds even when you don't go AP nasus. In a world where tank items have more armor and less HP, % shred will useful in teamfights. I don't think it's enough though.

The R changes are ridiculous. If it affects the base cooldown of his Q, he's gonna have 1.1s CD on Q under ult. I just hope Riot doesn't nerf him on something else to compensate that.

But the sheen proc does not come up that fast so even with the increase Q CDR he will not get a sheen empowered Q everytime he activate it. It will only come up every other Q and only if he doesn't use another spell before .

That only ever becomes an issue early on in the game, when the Sheen proc makes up the majority, or a large minority of the damage. The effect of clipping the Sheen coodown lessens more and more because the Sheen proc affects the damage less and less. (It's still lost damage though.)

I don't think it's a problem because his ult is already a transparent "you would be dumb to fight me right now" signal.

The buff increases his window of power. In lane, it should be possible to play around his window of power. In teamfights, he is extremely weak and he needs the buff.

Interestingly, because q is an aa-reset, this will also effectively be an attack speed boost. it basically means that on ult with q maxed, he has an effect attack speed of around 1.8. Cleaver might stack reasonably quickly with this.

Nasus is one of those champions that if you cannot get stacks at all in you're lane your gonna be useless. I never really see a Nasus in my elo (Silver) just to think that he gets bullied by most current champs making him unable to stack up early on. As for this his R lasts 15 seconds so that means for 15 seconds you have a giant raidboss coming at ya and he can FINALLY BECOME STRONG But yea I do get ur point cause if that nasus is fed and has lots of stacks already he can literally just delete everyone

at last I do hope this comes out so nasus can fit in the meta and become that one mighty raid boss he always was

Right now his biggest problems are he is absolutely worthless pre sheen (post sheen he becomes a glorified pantheon, where the stat checking makes or breaks the game) and he doesn't itemize %arpen

The changes probably alleviates some of the latter so you'll probably see a spike in winrate. Thing is Nasus has never been a well designed champion so I don't know why Riot's buffing him at all. It'd be like then buffing Pantheon or Akali because?????

The E change has been a long time asked-for. It actually shreds almost the same amount of armour, if not more, on everyone with pretty much one finished armour item. Which now includes Marksmen since the GA is pretty darn good on them. Under that, well, their armour is so low it doesn't matter much either way. I think the break-even point was roughly 114 armour? Easily achievable. I will admit that I didn't expect them to have it as high as 35% though, when it was mentioned that they were investigating changes.

His ult change is really interesting. I'm surprised they're trying something like this. It makes using his ult a pretty HUGE spike in effective power, nearly, but not quite, doubling his damage output. He's gonna be even more of a terror when splitpushing. (With triforce alone you can get off 2 autoattacks between Q cd at max CDR. 1 autoattack when his ult is active at max CDR. Still a considerable damage amplification.)

He can still be kited via movement abilities and hard CC so it's really giving him more ability to do damage when he actually IS close enough to someone before they slip away. Or die. Then he can clear the nearby minion wave faster. His issues in contributing to full-on teamfights still exist though, maybe a bit less than before since his Spirit Fire does more to their frontline. I believe they really should. He does need weaknesses outside of taking time to ramp up damage on Siphoning Strike.

Still, though, I am likewise ever so slightly worried that they'll take out power from the rest of his kit to compensate, if he spikes hard in win rates. I'm not gonna try to predict what they're going to do since I've been patently wrong on far too many occasions! I'm just gonna wait it out and see what they do. If the changes actually are a HUGE problem they'll hit him with a hotfix like they're doing with Singed. They've been doing decent recently. I'm a lot more happy with how balancing is going than I was over a good part of the last year, hahah.

I think it shoud be changed to 15% - 35%.

The changes on PBE are fine currently. I'd like to see them go to live without any tuning his E change is a huge power loss early game since 20 flat is way more than 15%. He will now be far better mid-late game instead of having pseudo power on his E making squishy targets have 0 AR. Nasus' has a problem of being unable to kill other tanks. These changes solve the problems though he is also heavily countered by grevious wounds, exhaust, and CC.

Low elo he's broken; I hope they finally get rid of this kind of issues.
