After a MASSIVE losing streak in Ranked...

I'm finally winning again.

So was Riot trying to force me lower? Was I just having bad games? Was match making screwing me? Cause it's night and day from what it was 2 weeks ago. Did I get worse and then better?

I'm sure people have had similar experiences. Discuss

Riot matchmaking has a disgusting logic. The goal of riot will always be to force you to win and lose 50% of your games. MMR is their way of ensuring they can do this.

No that is the hidden MMR trying to unsuccessfully adjust your handicap with crappy matchmaking. Also prob, some badluck.

This 50% conspiracy is complete trash. Riot doesn't want to "FORCE" you on 50%! It is just math. If you climb you will hit your skill-cap some day and then your winrate goes down to 50% because you play vs players on your skill-level. The reason why there are huge losing streaks is because if you climb and win a lot (maybe a bit with luck too) your hidden MMR don't make little steps, it makes huge steps. It's like: "oh he won 8 out of the last 10 games in Silver 3? Better put him in Silver 1 games" "Oh he won most of his S1 games too? Ok then... let's put him in Gold 3" Remember, it's only your HIDDEN MMR, not your real rank. Your real rank is still in Silver. So now you play in G3 matches while your skill is probably just G4. That means that the last step that hidden MMR made was a bit too big. So, now you lose because games are too hard for you untill your hidden MMR drops into Gold 4 where you belong.

Got it?

I'm currently on a terrible streak of games, 1 win out of about 15, was on a very high win%, now under 50%. I did notice some problems in my game where I'd not been as diligently as before, so I've been improving that. (Actually that was simply following idiots to their deaths when they're overextended - now it's a case of just let them die and accept I can't save their stupid asses) - but despite playing well and often ALMOST carrying the game, feels like I'm being placed with absolute idiots, can't get a win. I'm dropping down the ranks, going to get thrown back into the hell of Bronze soon.

Many factors could have come into play.

  1. Mental state: Believe it or not, from day to day, or even from game to game your mental state can vary significantly enough to cost you games/ win you games. Depending on mood and mental fatigue an individual can go from playing at a platinum level to a silver level.
  2. After the loss streak, your MMR fell and you fought worse players, which made it easier for you to win games and propelled you forward.
  3. bad RNG combined with bad gameplay: basically what's happened to me in the past goes something like this, I fucked up two games in a row, and lost my games, even though my team was not bad. Then the next two games I played flawlessly, but someone on my team fucked up and lost us the game. What should have been 2w/2L turned into 4L.

These are some of the things I've found to effect my streaks, could be something entirely different for you.

If people tell you riot matchmaking is controlled by sentient lizard people that secretly target players to force them into a 50% winrate, dont listen to them. It's pretty simple, If you're better than your current ELO you will climb, if you're not you will stay in the ELO you belong. Players who are amazing/smurfs can climb quickly, players who are only slightly better than their elo will climb more slowly, but they will.

Matchmaking is trash and needs a massive upgrade. When's performance-based matchmaking? This whole Win/Loss based nonsense is nonsense.

went from gold 3, 80LP, gaining 20 a win and losing 15, to gold 4, 0 LP gaining 15 a win and losing 19 within the span of a day (Maybe 2 at best) I am not going to get out of gold 4 no matter how many games i win now because on loss sets me back 2 games. 2 losses 3 games. 3 losses 5 games. I cannot get out of gold 4 because I got put into impossible to carry games, and Riot sees it as my problem i wasnt diamond 2 level and couldnt carry those games. The minimum LP you should win is 18. the minimum you should lose is 16. there should be fucking caps
