@Rito How the new Runes affect me as a OTP

I'm a Gangplank OTP, I play him top, into all matchups, but the only reason I play GP into all matchups is because I have specific runes and masteries for each one. I take AD Reds and Quints with Grasp against FioraRiven Darius I take Lethality Reds and Quints with Thunderlord's against all tanks along with Yorick Illaoi (lane bullies who actually have counterplay DariusDariusDarius ) I take Armor Quints and yellows against champs that have point-click nukes JarvanIV Irelia

And this is not only me, all GP OTPs and mains actually have different runes for different matchups, and I'm sure other champions' OTPs and mains also have the same.

So the question is, with the number of runes changed, will I lose that ability to mix and match them depending on the matchup? Cause 30 rune slots are a lot of room for experimentation, and I'm worried runes will be less versatile.

I'm worried about the same thing as you.

I agree with your concerns, hopefully the improved runes won't be a total fail.

One thing to keep in mind is that it was never really 30 rune slots. Most of the time, it was effectively 4 slots.

Occasionally, people would mix the blues and mode rate than that, the yellows. So at BEST, it was 6, 7 if you also mixed quints, and only if you mixed all of them on the same rune page.

The new runes/mastery system looks like it will have about the same or more choices, and will hopefully supply enough unique options that will be situationally beneficial.

I, for one have high hopes and hope you will too as more information rolls out. :-)
