Why is Riot Fixing What Isn't Broken!?

Season 6 is very troubling for me. I fear change to be honest, and the changes there making for Season 6 appear massive. Blizzard has an annoying habit of fixing what wasn't broken in WoW....and we all know how that worked out.

Season 3 - AD casters sucked and most assassins weren't even viable, so they put changed the way penetration works. Sightstone was added so supports didn't have to spend all their gold on wards.

Season 4 - They wanted to give Supports some more reliable income, so they got Gold generating items. They also wanted to alleviate the warding burden, so we got trinket wards and added a warding cap.

Season 5 - Tanks were outclassed by bruisers, Cinderhulk > Tank Meta. New updated map with a few new things like the way Dragon and Baron work. Scuttle crab.

Season 6 - The prime problem most of us can agree with is ADC item diversity has always sucked. Most just build the same thing. That's their focus. But now were getting so much other crap, Keystone masteries, New champ select that apparently allows quadra queue.

The new client and social features seem cool though.

It's not about fixing what isn't broken, it's about constant improvement. There's nothing that can't be better. Also, just leaving things the way they are for years just because it isn't "broken" is what makes a game stale and reduces player retention drastically. New stuff is also great for bringing in people that passed up the game before.

Starcraft Broodwar isn't broken. It has been in a perfect state of balance for over 10 years. Blizzard hasn't touched it since they began work on Starcraft 2. How popular is Broodwar now?

Did you hear about the Brood War mod for SC2?

but where is the Brood War itself?

I'm not sure what you mean.

There's a mod sure. war veteran's don't want brood war to die. but who plays it? how many people will actually pick up the game and play it. The only people who play brood war or the SC2 mod are old veterans. That pool is only going to evaporate over time.

Ah, well I only mentioned it in case you were interested.

i was interested ty. I used to play brood war too and i was sad when my new computer couldn't run it. but riot does not want the game to grow stale. the original goal of LoL was to create a moba that was constantly supported with patches bug fixes and new content. they are "fixing" the marksmen class because for the most part marksmen played and felt "samey" and as and adc main who's gotten to mastery 5 for a quarter of them and touched at least half of them at one point or another I can vouch for this. yes they all had subtle differences to their kit but for the most part i could switch between any marksmen and saw little drops in performance. baring vayne.

the reason behind the markmen update and the Juggernaut update was because league has gotten to the point where several champions do the same thing, and one of those champions did that thing better then their contemporary champions. It was to the point where there was no reason to pick those lesser champions. the update were designed to differentiate the champions that fulfilled a similar role so that one champion would shine in some team comps more then others. They want each champion to feel unique which is important in a game with over a hundred playable characters.

tanks used to be oneshot or taken down with little difficulty by assassin. they were not tanks at that time.

supports used to spend all their money on wards. It was the job of one role to ward the map. This doesn't make for a very enjoyable play experience for supports.

ad caster sucked so they fixed it. (i do not see your problem with riot fixing this. It was broke so riot fixed it)

hope this answers your question.
