Is duoing actually bad?

Statically speaking, does it ACTUALLY mean you will lose more? There's a b5 guy friend who I strongly believe doesn't belong there but his teammates suck. (I watch his games his kda is good) That is not everything but he can hold his own in a lane so I think he'd do okay against a gold. His decision making might be his weakness maybe but I'll be on skype to help him. Does duoing really mean their team loses more than if they went solo?

When you duo it will match the higher person and also try and match you against other duos (as far as ive seen). I think it is all a mind game and doesn't actually make a difference.

It actually combines the mmr of you and your duo Q partner then divides by 2 (the average) then places you with and against players in between.

Duo Q isnt bad.. can climb with it forsure, but you should also solo Q as well. Keep a solid balance.

Do you have proof of this? Or did they change it? Back when anyone could duo with anyone. If I duoed with my bronze friends they would all have to play with gold/plat people.

I didnt screen shot sorry, but i was Silver 2 Duo Q with a bronze 3 and what happened was we'd play vs ppl in between, our ranks. Just personal experience unfortunately sorry.

It's all good. My observation was from person experience as well. I figured it would make more sense so a d1 player couldn't duo with a gold player and stomp gold/plats.

Understandable, however ther is a limit to who you can duo with like you cant duo with a plat as a silver.. but at the same time.. if the diamond player duos with a plat.. he runs the risk of lowering his MMR significantly if he loses. :)

I've been playing duo with an IRL friend of mine with who I've been playing games since 2005 and in PvP we always had good sinergy.

Each time we did go Duo Bot we dominated the lane most of the times just to end in a loop of 2vs4-5, ganked to oblivion from all the lanes while our team... "mates"... couldn't even push enough to the tower nor come in help.

This is a tricky question. Ideally if you are close to the same level in skill and have good communication via skype of curse or something, it should provide a slight advantage over the long haul.

Problem is that is almost never the case. In a DUO there is almost always a weaker link. The game pairs you with players from the higher persons ELO, and now you almost always have 1 player that is below par on your team every game. That means someone has to carry harder than normal to win, and even if they manage to pull the person up over time into their ELO bracket...its artificial. If they try and play on their own they will likely slide down the ladder very fast.

Duo queing can be fun, and is a great way to help teach someone better habits, but i think its a bit of a liability in ranked. Its never as cut and dry as it always being better or always being worse. I think the best you can do is put in some real time in normals together before you try and tackle ranked as a duo. Also remember that duos don't always get to play bot together and so your mate will have to be good enough to hold their role in every lane, not just as your dedicated support (or ADC).

Good luck, hope you guys are having fun. Having fun can have just as much impact on your game as your pairings.

Yeah hes a good top laner and I can do anything except jungle. (G3 v B5) but he CAN hold his own I've watched him. I WAS a little concerned about him going against gold but isn't it SUPPOSED to even out the levels/ranks?

I do not belive if you are say gold, and you bring a bronze in your duo with you...that the enemy team will get a bronze to even it out. In fact I think the opposite is true. That the gold enemy team will have 5 goldish level players and you will have 4 + the bronze. That is how it is commonly belived to work. Feel free to prove me wrong with a cited source that contradicts. I don't have one to back up the claim other than personal experience and hearsay.

I see duoing as a bit of fun, a way of enjoying LoL with someone you enjoy spending time with as opposed to a solo activity.

As far as stats go, it depends on your relative skill matchups (cos of matchmaking being skewed) and synergy with each other, for example me and my brother play in the same room quite often, hence actually talking to each other in game, but have played together enough to make plays without actually exchanging a word :P

While you do get slightly less LP for wins while duoing, it is worth it. If you have a good player to duo with, you lower the chance of getting an afk, feeder, troll, etc. by 25% since you have one less spot to worry about.
