So I've just started plying Jayce alot

And I have a few questions.

What are some of his weaker matchups?

Is he typically built damage or does he go a bruiser style build? With the reccomended builds it looks like he builds damage and not much defence.

Is he weak right now? I've done OK with him but it feels like I'm stuck in ranged mode most of the time, he feels too soft for melee unless I've done some poke first.

Any other tips would also be appreciated.

I know I could Google all this but I'm on my phone and my browser sucks.

Farm hard early, use Cannon Stance to poke when you can. Skill Order is Q>E>W> Max Q, Max W, Max E. Ult isn't THAT important anymore, sadly.

Your first item is usually a Tear into a Manamune rush, IE, Yomouu's, really the only defensive item you need is a GA lategame, or a Veil if you're getting Blown up with Spells, but honestly, Mercurial's so good Right now, Banshee's is kinda bottom tier for AD champions

fiora and irelia will probably fuck you up because of gap closers.

i don't play him a whole lot but i would recommend going sort of bruiser.. at least get black cleaver i would think.

i wouldn't say he's weak but his win rate is terrible because he doesn't really bring a lot to late game teamfights except the q poke. he's pretty squishy so he can't do what most tops are supposed to do in a teamfight, follow your tank's initiation and try to get at the backline. if he tries he just gets blown up. he's basically a second adc.

switch to hammer to reduce the enemy laner's armor before you go all in

Yeah I had a real hard time against a Wu because of his engage, and he hit me so damned hard.

Just poke a lot, the strength of Jayce is his EQ ranged combo. He is mainly a poke champion and his hammer form is somewhat useless. You are playing him right if you find yourself stuck in ranged. As for builds you should mostly be going damage.
