Does hogging all the kills screw your teammates out of an S rank? Maybe.

You are a YI that swoops in and goes 20 kills. Others on your team who were doing damage before your alpha get the assist but go 5 kills. If you leave them alone or distribute the kills everyone gets more gold overall than just you being fed and we get that sweet sweet chest. You were assured an S rank around the 10 kill. Stop KS'ing and starving your teammates. You are already fed and I didn't need your help anyway. YOU PROBABLY KNEW THAT THOUGH.

Edit: To those that think I am not focused on winning, do you think I am trying to get an S and lose? The only difference in me and you is, you want to win and I want to win in ROYAL FASHION!

Kill participation.

Yeah this game isn't about S and crafting. It's about winning. If I need to go 35-0 and everyone else gets 0 kills, so be it.

Occams Raiser2 votes

That is actually counter productive as I explained. 6 items x 3000 gold = 18000. You get 5000 in passive gold as it is by full build. Anything over that is a waste. You want 35 kills but you are just throwing that gold in the trash unless you are giving it to your teammates.

Math gets you every time.

Or you know, stop trying to get kills and just win already. Goddam how hard to I have to carry you guys.

I get a triple kill 1v3 and you guys are going all the way from top to bot in search of kills instead of pushing for the win.

Occams Raiser1 votes

You know that was not the point I was making. Killing at the expense of a loss wont get you an S.

The Rewritten1 votes

No, it is. You want to go for "gold gains" while you already have the assist and we got the kill. Just push a lane and win already, if I'm 16/2/2 then we should have won already, but no one is helping push the lanes. It's not about money, it's about winning.

We're winning. Now let's finish the job.

So now distributing gold after you are fed is a bad idea? You are trying to argue two points that have the same answer. A causes X and A also cause Y. You want A to cause X but not be a factor in Y. I am stating that hogging kills is bad for two reason but you only want to acknowledge one of them and be contrary to the other.

After you are fed, it is a good idea for you to take the assist if possible and give kill gold someone else.

You said it yourself in your post that Yi gave you guys assists. Good enough. Now help him push and win.

That is correct, but you went against your own point. You brought S into this. Taking kills isn't about the rank, it's about winning. Like I said, 35 kills if I must. Gold distribution is valuable, but rank has NOTHING to do with this. I'm not doing it for an S, I don't give a fuck if you need an S. I want and need a win so that's what will happen. Everyone needs gold and 35 kills is excessive, but S is not in my mind when I'm taking kills. At all. Only gold and wins.

Logic gets you every time.

Occams Raiser1 votes

you are conflating two issues then arguing from there. If you understand both points separately I don't know why you are doing that. You agree with me that gold distribution is important. I merely illustrated that it kills two birds with one stone. By doing the opposite you also do two bad things.

But the S isn't even a factor. It's completely irrelevant. It's like saying if I don't get 35 kills, I don't feed my cat that night so you better make it happen because it matters. Completely irrelevant. S doesn't matter. All that matters is the gold distribution here. Your title is a hook and an indicator of the body, and you introduced S so it is a relevant part of your post. That being stated, S doesn't matter and has no influence on how you should play. Play to win, no matter what that entails. It just happens gold is the main way.

Is there a way you could play optimally by hording kills beyond the point of being fed? By doing what is right in game you will also get an S rank. Riot made getting an S relevant to SOME extent, to SOME of us. Even if it isn't relevant to you, the sheer notion of hording kills is bad for other reasons. That is all I'm saying.

By doing one you are doing the other. By telling me not to worry about S doesn't excuse the practice of hoarding kills and KS'ing after you are fed.

The ranks aren't based on personal performance in the game. It's a rank dictating your performance compared to the average for that champion. You could go 15-10-15 and still get an A or go 4-3-5 and get an S. It's all relative to how the champion is being played by others. So again, the S has NO impact on the decisions you make. Don't play for an S, play for the win. You don't hoard kills to allow your teammates to get an advantage, not because you're worried about their S or something. Again, this variable and concept of S has no impact on anything. No one has S in their mind. No one should. Only thing I care about is seeing Victory.

And sometimes hoarding kills can work with hyper carry objective champions. A yi shouldn't go out of his way to distribute kills to his team if he has the opportunity to smash a team fight with a pentakill and snag a few objectives along with maybe even a push to win. This mostly applies to flash igniting before an ally can finish his auto. But strictly avoiding kills can often result in needless deaths and game losses. If it's within reason, distribute gold. If not, they'll have to do with assists and CS.

this game isnt about s ranks. and thats not true at all. i went 11/3/12 and got an A+

Occams Raiser1 votes

How many kills did your team have overall? That is a key factor.

Occams Raiser1 votes

They ff'ed. I have seen that games that do not finish with a nexus sometimes drop your score cause you don't get all the turrets you could have. I'm not sure though. I wish they would just tell you what they thought was important.

the Anarchit3cht1 votes

Yeah that could be it. I wish there some basic guidelines on what was graded because like I've said, I've had games where I was like 3/4/12 as say Leona and gotten S ranks.

EndlessSorcerer1 votes

I managed to get S rank as Mundo top after going 4/3/5 when we lost the game.

Kills are not the deciding factor.

Besides, the game is about killing the nexus through whatever means necessary. Not receiving chests or S-ranks.

Occams Raiser1 votes

I know they aren't everything but the do play a factor I am sure by studies done by others. Try just taking turrets and inhibs but don't kill anyone or assists. You will not get an S rank. The only thing that makes me wonder is when I got an S as a support when I lost. But even then I had 28 assists.

How many kills did your team have overall when you went 4-3-5? That is a key factor.

EndlessSorcerer1 votes

Considering we lost, our team had 14 kills and 24 deaths

So, I suppose my kill participation was actually fairly high and I was a small portion of our deaths.

Occams Raiser1 votes

Similar to my game.

Truly Prideful1 votes

I think kill participation is more important than getting the actual kill for the grades. That said, I'll share kills when I'm fed if it's realistic to do so but if there is even a 1% chance they can get away I am taking it.

I play to win not to make sure my teammates can get an S.

Occams Raiser1 votes

The two are not mutually exclusive. By gold distribution you are helping grades too. no extra effort is needed.

Truly Prideful1 votes

Yes and sometimes it isn't realistic to hand off kills during a teamfight is what I'm telling you. Why would you risk an enemy escaping just to try to get someone an S? Having the grades have anything to do with box drops was a really poor idea on Riot's part.

Occams Raiser1 votes

Don't default to thinking that I would expect anyone to risk a kill in order to give it to me. I have walked along side a kill in order for someone to get it. I could have autoed him one last time but I didn't. I was fed and well within range and I never broke off pursuit to give the kill away.

Viperjcs19851 votes

Assist to death ratio and CS score count just as much as kill to death ratio for S ranking.

Occams Raiser1 votes

Agreed.

Very low downvotes to an educated question. I feel good considering this is the internet.
