Looking for a coach who will take pity on me...

I've been stuck in silver for years, and I just can't figure out what I'm doing wrong, I can't see it. I try to follow all the advice that people give in videos like SoloRenektonOnly and JaySea and others, they explain their thought process a lot and that has helped me get to Silver 1, but I just don't know what else to do, everyone seems to know so much more about what decisions to make and when and why, and I just can't see it for myself.

I used to have money for this kind of thing but I don't anymore, I lost a very good job due to some foolish mistakes and am now living hand to mouth. This game is the thing I do to keep myself focused on something and motivated to keep going and I just want to get better.

So if anyone would be willing to help me, either just replay reviews or spectate a game or whatever I can't offer you any kind of financial compensation just my eternal gratitude...

Well, seeing as you're Silver 1 and play pretty much only Kat, there's one thing that might be able to just flat out bump you up to Gold 4 in a couple games.

Katarina builds Gunblade into Death's Dance now, since she scales just as well with AD and it now heals for magic damage as well. So you double your healing compared to Gunblade alone.

You haven't been building it.

DOUBLE TAPPED E1 votes

OH really? I've been going Gunblade -> Oblivion Orb+Sorcs -> Zhonya -> Void if they have MR or Deathcap if they dont. I'll give it a try, thank you!

The Ecdysiast2 votes

You probably still wanna go for sorc's before finishing DD, but yeah that added healing on top is pretty great.

Sure. I'm at work right now so I can't vod review, but from your op.gg a few things stand out. Your cs is low, ideally you want to be around 8 cs/min, 10 is a godlike spot. You can absolutely climb with lower, but cs is gold, gold becomes items, items are the baseline for winning fights, and fights let you take objectives/win games.

Your kill participation is pretty low too, although it's good on some wins. This could be anything from not roaming (not bad, but roaming is a good way to get 2-3 people ahead on your team) to getting picked a lot late, lowering your team fight presence (really bad). I'll look closer in a replay.

Any game(s) specifically you want me to watch? I'm on NA so I can review ranked games from this patch in the client.

I'll see if I can find one where I did relatively well but we lost anyway. I refuse to blame my team, I know Kat has the tools to carry games I'm just doing something wrong when I get my lead. I'll reply to this with a link to it or something. Games where I lose lane are pretty easy for me to spot my mistakes in usually, it's all mechanical errors I can see from a mile away.

Thank you very much ^ ^

Ok here is a tinyupload link to a game where I have not the slightest clue where I went wrong or could have changed the course of the game. I went 9/4/11 at the end and we lost.

There's some moments towards the end where I'm tilted and take stupid fights but I'm betting there's some point earlier in the game where I could have changed the outcome so I would never be in that position in the first place :D

Thank you so much again I appreciate it immensely!

I'll for sure take a look at that tonight!

Awesome I'll look forward to seeing your thoughts! ^ ^

Alright, home and got the replay pulled up. Wasnt able to get the ROFL file to run (it crashed my client and forced it to patch for a while after, but I also suck at tech sometimes, so who knows), but there was only one 9/4/11 loss in your recent history, so I reviewed that one. This is stream of thought as I watch, so sorry for how wordy it is.

Laning: This was one of your best csing games (6 cs/min avg), but theres still room for improvement there. Your first cs misses are because you're moving out of position though, which is definitely avoidable. Point to watch for: I would guess you're tunnel visioning on the lowest health minion to make sure you land your last hit. Especially as a 1 trick where you know your last hitting damage/time well, you want to at least be aware of your next cs, so that after you hit the first you can begin the pattern for the next one.

You traded very well at level 2, got electrocute off (I think some kat's are running conq with death's dance to do ridiculous healing, would recommend checking out Kat Evolved and even Scarra (when he's not memeing) on that), and took almost no damage in return. Didnt panic into veigar wall. If every trade goes like this, easy lane win.

Mid level 2: You walk up to veigar and q him out of nowhere. This is very bad, for a few reasons. He hits a q in return, which hurts you more, and gives him free ap (20 gold effectively, i think i saw somewhere). It also draws minion aggro, since your attack is single target (like an auto) and his isn't. This means that the minions (3 casters, 1 melee, and 1 cannon) all hit you for a few seconds after the trade, while your minions hit Veigar's. Not only does this hurt you a lot, but it also makes your wave push from where you almost had a freeze, and that's not a lane you want to push (he farms decently under turret and scales, and his jg is WAY scarrier early than yours). Improvement point: Be concious of minions when trading. If you can free q for no return q when theres just a minion or 2, go for it. But take care of the wave, your q will always draw minion aggro if a champ is the first target.

Level 3: good trade again. Started q off of a minion, went in to proc damage, dodged till you can leave. Not going to point this out every time, but in a heavy critique post, I do think that positives should be pointed out to be reinforced while mistakes are fixed.

Towards 4: Several cs missed and free harass taken, I think because you were trying to manage the wave, possibly trying to setup a trade, not 100% sure. It was definitely tunnel vision that caused the mistake though, keep your head up to not only enemy minions dying, but also allies (you tanked 5 minions after getting a w to the face, and lost cs to turret as it pushed). Improvement point: When the wave is getting fucky, don't hurt yourself trying to fix it. Instead, let it shove to you, and spend your time trying to make csing under tower easier so you can get more then. Play the slightly longer game.

Same stuff to 6, fight at 6 wasnt bad, although it could have been a kill. You started the trade well, doing the exact same trade as before, but walked into the wall. He'd already missed some stuff, so no big deal, but it delayed your damage. When you went back on him, q and w had 1 sec left each, no reason not to w him and either force the flash or just sit there autoing him. You've got double long swords, he has a tear, You win that, As long as he has flash though, your ult wont kill, so you want to force his flash if possible (since you already forced the cage with a good trade). Could possibly have followed his flash with yours since you had it, but low vision of jungler coulda been sketch, no blame there. Cs after, missed like, half a wave + cannon trying to push fast. Dont starve yourself to deny an enemy if you dont have to. Improvement point: Don't rush your fights, play to your win conditions (forcing cage and flash), especially into ability reliant champs like veigar. Once you outplay them (cause you did there), make sure you dont outplay yourself too!

Throughout all of this, a few notes. 1: Your bot lane is getting trashed. Unfortunate from the start, but also makes roam opportunities. Enemy bot pushed a lot. You also had a pink in your inventory for like, 4 minutes without river warded. No problem of getting ganked since your wave was put well, but it does help your jungler gank you if thats out.

Level 8 fight, great. Positioned well before it, played to your strengths, ulted when he had no saves. Greedy for plates after tho, i think hec shoulda killed you. Take care of no jungler vision.

Annie suicides for a 1 for 1 and lets her adc die bot, nothing you can directly do, but if your team is being morons, ping them off. Lie if you have to 'He has flash, don't dive!'

Mid-Game: Level 10, you picked up gunblade, came into lane where you had an item and he didnt, immediately killed. Good play. Another option woulda been to use that strength bottom tho, free double on luc and thresh not only woulda been more gold for you from shutdown, but also would let your trist back in the game. Especially after a turret is down, camping the hell out of bot is very viable when the enemy pushed (happens a lot in low elo) especially when your supp has cc.

As it so happens, that exact situation came mid, and you were able to pickup a double as your cds came back. Improvement point, keeping an eye on free kills around the map (another kind of tunnel vision)

Level 13: Drag coming up, team doesnt have control of it, but waves are even. You never even move towards it. No pings, nothin. You're 4/0/6, with better cs than your laner or enemy adc. You want to fight CONSTANTLY if your cds are up (everything but flash was). Ping the hell out of your team not just that its up, but that you're on your way there. Put vision out! (you have no wards, but you can escort your underfed annie so you can murder everyone who comes for her). If you want to climb, its your job to make the good call (at least 2 enemies pinged drag and forced their allies to come to it, only kayn pinged it on yours and no one responded as yall farmed mid). Improvement points: Watch for objectives becoming available, and use your weight to make the team do good things.

Pick on thresh + luc was good heads up mid-fight. Keeping eyes up turns those picks into doubles.

Be aware of lost fights. You wasted a good bit of time walking top to try and save a dead illaoi (1v4).

Trust in allies, annie pinged like hell she was going in. She's not been playing well, but also she's predator annie. Its not like they can stop her. Position to take advantage of it, if they blow everything on her like they did, nuke everyone (she even traded herself for luc there). Same thing with illaoi like, 1 min later.

Finish free kills if you're not going to chain out, keep on them while safe. Made your adc flash for nothing.

Take care of 1v4ing. You'd pinged going to drag, and illaoi came with you, but annie and kayn pinged off because of cds. Were they right? No, i dont think so. But, thats why they're silver, they don't always make the right call. You tunnel visioned on luc and got killed as drag came up, dropping a big bounty. This is the first real mid-game mistake, and is the first that leads to losing a game, rather than winning less, which is the earlier stuff. Improvement point: Watch for when your team is in the wrong spot. It sucks, but you have to play with them until you're strong enough to 1v9.

Fight at 26 min: Starts off really well on a pick, you go in and ult and... panic. Cage went down, and you didnt have a shunpo target out. So you walk into a Vei cage and get obliterated. One of the hardest things to do in league is learn to move sideways. In this situation, by sideways i mean straight down (sideways because it keeps you in the fight, same distance from veigar). If you're feeling ballsy you could e-w-q him and woulda been safe, or you coulda moved to a safe part of the cage. Its a decision you made right at least 5 times in lane, but because you'd just gotten a reset and there was a luc alive and shit does thresh have hook and everything else going on, it goes out the window. At the end of the day, you're playing kat. If you stay alive long enough, you will kill everyone (except nasus >_>) as daggers keep dropping. As soon as you hit that ult, don't look at the enemy hp, watch for your next safe spot to jump or walk. Improvement point: remember how you dealt with enemy abilities like cage before, keep a level head, and move sideways.

29: again, free drag given. Yea it would be 4v5, but also if y'all get the jump on things, it'll still be your fight. You're too strong for it not to be, kayn too. Fight at 30 was played very well be veigar, honestly shoulda just spam pinged back to stop the bleeding. Pinging out of a fight 1 person has already comitted to can get rough on tempers, but sometimes its the call to make.

Late-ish Game 30-31 min: this is bad. This is a game winner right here, and it wasnt taken. https://i.imgur.com/zFT600o.jpg Kayn gets picked hard, dies fast, you shunpo in and..... flash out. you have a dagger landing on 4 people, hook, flay, and cage are all down. Not a single person on their team has flash, vei ult is down and hec isnt there. Not a single way for them to physically stop your ult, and you're an 8/2/10 kat. Thats a 1v4 montage play right there, and instead you ran. Improvement point, have a list of 3-5 abilities in your head of what you're watching for (hook, flay, cage, hec ult would be mine this game). If they're down and you've got a go chance (especially with 2 teammates by you), light the enemy up. I don't know if this was panic from above or not realizing your opportunity, but keeping that list can help with both.

No comment on the followup. You weren't watching the cage, went right in. 5-0 ace, I would say this is where the game starts actually being lost.

As a connected note, if you miss an opportunity and are hitting yourself after, NEVER try to make up for it. That just leads to inting. Opportunities are never forced, they present themselves. And anyone 'forcing an opportunity'

usul12022 votes

isnt, they're taking advantage of a smaller on earlier you didnt even see, and snowballing it into a big one that it looks like they forced.

32 min: You 1 man ult for the support surrounded by like, 3 allies. It mighta been up for the fight, unless your team fought around chickens. Not a game loser, but count the worth of your spells.

32-33: starts with a bad baron call. Your team has absolutely no vision, anywhere near there, at all. But they start, and then on your way in you get picked. You and kayn are the only positive scores on the team (and he's 6/5 >_>), trist, while farmed, has not inspired confidence in her skills. You can't get picked here, after the last team fight, 2 in a row there is a lost game. It's a 50/50 death, 50% is vision. (17 vision score is because you placed your trinket down decently. And then only bought 1 control ward all game. Especially as baron and shit comes around, you need that vision) If you dont have vision, you dont walk. go to the back of the pit and e in if you have to, but the moment you become the carry of your team, you lose the ability to die randomly and have things turn out well. Then the other 50% of it: let your team know when they're being idiots. Don't say 'hey idiot, you're being an idiot!'. Ping back a few times, say 'no vision' then ping hec and veigar a few times, so that people know threats are still up. Improvement point: fearing the fog of war and communication. If the enemy picker (shit like veigar, blitz, any assassin) hasn't come up on the map in a while, you have to fear the shadows. Its your job as the big squishy carry. Communication doesn't need to be text (I generally avoid it if theres any fighting happening, cant have people read and play) but use them pings!

And that's GG. Two really big mistakes, and the nexus falls.

Overall Thoughts: Your mechanics aren't bad. If you consistantly play with this level of mechanics, I would not target that as an improvement point even if you were climbing to plat. Could they be better, yea, but you're not playing riven, that alone won't carry you up. Your mistakes fall into three catagories, not taking opportunities given, not respecting opponents, and not being prepared for timed events.

Opportunities not taken are everything from free cs missed, to not following allies in (don't necessarily go all in every time, but be in range to make plays if its available. You tend to sit waaaay back), to not going in on enemy misplays. The core of this comes down to awareness of what's going on. What spells have been used? What summoners are up? Who is across the map? All of these are good triggers for when an opportunity can become a really good fight.

Respecting opponents you did better on, imo. You respected veigar very well early, your trading pattern was clean. It was more the team fights, where you both over and under respected people (over respected veigar, panicing away from him when he wasnt gonna kill you, under respected the pick options their team had. This was relatively few of the mistakes, but it was the game loser, so I'll touch on it.

Fighting at objectives. This one was rough. Y'all didn't lose at objectives (only 1 death at them!) but mostly because you didn't show up. There's a big ol' timer above the scoreboard for that dragon, you should be showing up 15 seconds before it, placing that control ward or even just escorting your support, since they were dying a lot. If you're in a position to win fights, you should be there every time, since objectives are the reason fights break out, be it a turret, dragon, or baron.

Overall improvement points: 1: Tunnel vision. Definitely your biggest thing. Your improvement can be anything from verbally saying 'hook' 'flay' 'cage' so you doubly recognize things are cast, or get a metronome program to remind you to look at your map to look for opportunities outside of your lane, both are different areas of tunneling. Opening up that vision is crucial tho. 2: Showing up on time. If you've ever heard 'if you're on time, you're late' its true for league too, if you make it to a fight/objective as the fight/objective starts, you're late. You have to be to them in time to position yourself around them and get vision in the dangerous spots. 3: Consistency. It happened a bit throughout, where you'd be calm about situations sometimes, and panic the next. Or you'd make the right call the first time, and then the second the wrong. From your op.gg, you're a very hot/cold player. If you can make those cold's lukewarm, that's a great start. CSing was pretty good this game (I think you coulda hit 7/min just from barely misses), but other games it isn't. You should shoot to cs like you did this one, or better.

That is a massive fucking wall of text. Sorry about that. I'm..... not very concise. If you have any questions let me know!

DOUBLE TAPPED E1 votes

Oh man. This is the most useful information I have ever had about this game ever. Period. Hands down. End of discussion. I've spent probably hundreds of hours watching commentaries and strategy guides and reading build info and lane matchups, etc. about Katarina, and nothing has come anywhere NEAR this level of usefulness, so if you're down to trade walls of text, I just have so much I'd like to get down in my own words to solidify it in my mind, and maybe a couple questions if you wouldn't mind, but first of all...

Thank you so much, this information is more than I ever dreamed you would give, and I am so grateful for you taking the time to help me, this is a treasure trove, worth more than all the Gold IV in the world...

I am thrilled nearly to tears with how in-depth you went and again cannot thank you enough, I'll say that a few more times throughout so bear with me :P

The CS, of course after 7 years of this crazy game I understand that yes I need to get the CS but... I just say "oh darn I missed another one haha" and kind of neglected really buckling down and working on my farming, it seems like such a simple thing and yet I find myself wondering: if I've really been overlooking such fundamental concepts for so long, what else might I be missing?

Watching minion aggro. Again it's one of those things I've heard. I know not to fight in minion waves and to try to keep it near my turret if I can but... like you mentioned many times, I tunnel. I have to work on that, that is going to be a key you are so right about that, another fundamental concept that is contributing to, how did you put it? Winning less? Perfect terminology.

I need to try to see allies losing lane less as liabilities (woof say that 5 times fast), and more as opportunities, and pay close attention to my team throughout the game to prepare for roam opportunities. "Is bot lane pushed up? Where is the enemy jungler? Haven't seen him in a while he's probably going bot, I should look to push and head down before they get caught out, or if I can't, ping them back." "Is my jungler invading? Going for scuttle? Keep an eye out." things like that.

I need to start taking more responsibility for the safety of my team, and take advantage of the enemy when they try to take advantage of them. It's like taking-advantage-ception. Very good info to keep in mind. Thank you for this especially.

Objectives. Play around them you idiot. Objectives win games you know this you know this you god damn know this. I don't hit tab enough. Period. I need to start now or just FF for good. And while I'm at it, pay attention to builds. I don't know how many times I've been at the end game screen and thought to myself "wow I really needed a void staff there, huh?"

What you touched on about enemy abilities, recognizing openings, it really got me thinking, I've spent so much time on Kat, Kat, and MORE KAT that I kind of lost touch with other champs and what their general play patterns are. I know basically what each of their abilities do, and which ones are the most / least dangerous, but I'm not keeping it in mind because I haven't had a refresher on the VAST majority of them in years... Not my usual lane opponents of course, I'm intimately familiar with say... Zed, and as long as he's not hard smurfing I can play around his kit, but in teamfights, just like you said, I'm panicking, I stop thinking and just press my buttons and run around like a chicken with my head cut off when things don't turn out exactly the way I planned them... It's so strange how simple and easy it seems when someone else says it, but I'm sitting here poring over replays like "WHAT WENT WRONG THERE IT LOOKS LIKE SUCH A GOOD FIGHT WHAT IS GOING ON???"

Don't rush my fights. Don't rush my fights. Don't rush. Don't rush. Don't rush my fights. This will become my mantra. I will whisper this in my sleep, I will shout this from the highest mountain. Don't rush my fights!

I always wondered how Flyerbek, Yeyeo, KatEvolved, etc. make it look so easy. I mean yes of course they have insane mechanics and reaction time but... They aren't rushing in like "OMG I CAN ONE SHOT THAT GUY" they are always aware first of what else is around, watching for danger around their target. I need to do this. Don't rush. Don't rush. Stay calm. Keep cool. I know my champion's kit well enough that if I just stay calm and take opportunities as they present themselves I can do anything, I can kill everyone. (After all "CONQUEROR KATARINA IS 100% UNSTOPPABLE ACTUAL 1v9 NOT CLICKBAIT")

THINK! USE YOUR BRAIN! I always get so angry at my teammates when they ask me "why did you do that? why did you do this? why did you think that was a good idea?" and I get it now. They shouldn't be asking me why, I should be asking myself. I get angry because the answer is "I don't know." and I am embarrassed to admit it in front of them. The game is not "League of Katarina" it's "League of Legends."

Don't outplay yourself. This, this, so many times this. This is such a concise and relevant statement. I try to get fancy, I try to do difficult mechanical tricks that I haven't practiced enough in clutch situations when I could do something less efficient but also less risky. Either get my ass in practice tool or stop trying to be Faker.

Lie to your team if you have to. Pretend they have summoners because if they do and you aren't sure about it, they will screw you. Principle of charity, you always talk about this, you preach it, why don't you practice it? Oof. This is causing so much introspection I need a cigarette.

Make sure people are in position. You might be fed but you are NOT A GOD. You need your team, your team needs you. Stop trying to 1v4 unless MAYBE you are full build at 20 mins or something stupid like that.

Trust your allies. Think about your teammates and what they could be capable of, because they will try it and whether it works exactly the way they planned or not there will be a fight and you will need to be ready to make it as worth as you can.

But don't forget to think about it, is it a bad fight now? Don't be afraid to ruffle some feathers if you know you are making the right call. Trust your allies yes, but don't forget to trust yourself too.

Don't try to take an opportunity after you missed it. Inting is bad. Stop it. You know better than this. Stop it. Oof. I can't believe how many times this has happened. Stop forcing it, the play has gone sour and it's time to cut your losses just back out and wait for the next chance.

Vision. Seriously? You have known this for years. Vision wins games. Buy more wards. Stop trolling you monkey, what the hell is wrong with you.

On the final thoughts:

  1. Be early to objectives. Prepare for them. Keep in your mind always "where will the next objective be taking place?" and focus on it. Get pinks, if nobody has a sweeper, get one, and clear / place vision near that next objective in advance. Don't react, act.

  2. Stop tunneling. Call out abilities. This is such good advice, I'm going to do this every single game for the rest of my life. This is one of those golden tickets. I can see how invaluable this will be on Kat, probably the single most revolutionary piece of advice in 2 posts filled with revolutionary advice, so that's saying something.

  3. Stay calm. Don't panic. Just relax and focus. Your fingers know what to do when the opportunity presents itself you can stop focusing on it so hard now, think about the bigger picture. Be consistent. You know what works and what doesn't, stop acting like you don't. Stop getting caught up in the moment, and always stay one step ahead of yourself.

Please, don't be sorry about the wall of text.

This is by far the kindest thing anyone has done for me in the last 10 years. That sounds like hyperbole, I know. I promise you it is not. I can't even begin to express how deep my gratitude goes. If there's anything I can ever do to repay you, don't hesitate to ask. If you're interested in paid work or something I would be more than happy to recommend you to some friends as a coach. This is just incredible and so much more than I deserve.

From the bottom of my heart, thank you, thank you, 1 million times thank you. And 1 million more for good measure.

I thought I would have some questions, but I've got so much here that I have plenty to keep me busy in my Rocky montage for the next few months, so I guess I'll just thank you again!

Thank you.

I really don't mind, i'm a big believer that if you cant teach it, you don't know it well enough, so it's good for me too.

IMO, csing is a skill that's very similar to game sense, there's only so much you can book-learn on it, and a lot of the good stuff comes from developing intuition. CSing practice in custom modes is good for this, learning first against nothing to really get a measure up on how enemy minions retarget, and how well you can do against it. There's a bajillion and a half csing guides out there (I learned on Elyndar's), most using practice tool. Use This Guide to make sure you're using practice tool well, as it's fucky with minions, for reasons listed in it.

Minion aggro between minions is weird, but minions aggroing onto champs has a few quick ones. Since you're a long time player you may have missed the patch a year or two ago where abilities started drawing aggro if they're single target, like kat q. That one messed up a lot of people when it came out, since it used to just be autos.

Winning less is definitely my favorite choice of words for that kind of thing. Its what really separates out those really good players, they take every opportunity to win more, and it adds up. That's one of the reasons i'm less of a fan of self-vod review, since while its easy to see mistakes, it can be harder to see those without talking it out.

Its important to look at allies as both, tbh. At some level you have to think 'damn, my adc has 0 clue what they're doing, guess I need to focus on my dps and not on picks'. But also, avoid the thought of 'damn, my adc is feeding. time to never look bot'. Its a delicate balance that is hard to work with. Always be looking for those opportunities tho.

Team safety is a big one. I think i focus more on that than I ought to (i'm a supp main, so being the babysitter is part of the job), but pings are a godsend. As a note: never 1 ping for something important (it'll be missed), and never more than 4 (people get mad at spamming). [Those numbers are 100% personal opinion tho].

Objectives are definitely where its at, and getting a good eye for dragons and barons is the start of learning them. Next step is learning to see which tower is probably going to fall next, and being there when needed. Something to keep in mind as you go on.

I do want to touch on builds, since I didn't in my post (purposefully, I'm garbo at kat and can't give you an answer in good confidence). Don't overvalue damage, a lot of mage itemization is stronger for its effects. I honestly would have recommended banshees over void staff in the game, simply because it nullifies thresh and veigar's pick potential. If nasus has been better tho, no brainer take the void.

I would really recommend watching some Kat Evolved montages, for the purpose of not being amazed. Ignore his setup and the kill feed, and the mucis, and watch what he does in fights. The first montage on his youtube channel is great for this because its mostly his POV. The moment he ults, he shifts his mouse and camera to a shunpo target and then watches and waits. Dude is nuts about just how fast he can cancel ults, and it got him challenger. When you take mouse/camera movement out of the equation, it only becomes a question of 'when' which helps a lot with the panic.

A habit i picked up from a coach i watch a lot, is asking after every death 'what caused that?'. Not what i did wrong, but what lead to that death. Did i overstay, did I get outplayed, was it 5 people coming down bot because season 8? Whatever the reason, I try to ID it, and then focus on how to fix it next time. As you can see from my KDA, i'm not very successful at this :P. Scarra has a really good system of this with his post-game post-it notes, where he writes something after every game.

Not outplaying yourself is literally why janna had such a high winrate for so long. It wasnt that she was op as shit (okay, she was towards the end cause of meta change) but its so, so, so hard to outplay yourself on her. R is the only key you can with. And thats why, every other supp fucked themselves up, and she just hit e, w, an q. randomly if she wanted. It really is an underrated skill.

Be careful with the lies (You don't want to turn your team on you) but if they're headed to dive when theres clearly something else important to do (bot was getting dove), then yea. ping them, say something, and hope.

There's balance in all things. In position means close enough to join the fight, but far enough not to get picked. Trust allies, but make sure you're still in the drivers seat of your plays (and if their car is taking off, you're in range to hitch on!)

Not overcompensating a missed opportunity was one of my big improvement goals early this season, it's really a kicker for mana-intensive champs since you'll find yourself oom real quick. Big ones are easy to do, but 'ah man, i shoulda punished that guy there. Imma make that trade now that i see where it was!' is just as losing. All the small things.

And one last thing on improvement, even 3 topics is too much at once. When you're on load in, you ought to pick one thing, anything, that is your improvement goal that game. The problem won't be solved there, you won't become a god, but keep it in mind. And at one point that game be able to say 'damn, i played that well.' 'Hell yea, that worked perfectly!'. Something there. My current mental is 1 main, with 2 more broad topics that I keep in mind and try to cultivate good habits on more passively. Just make sure you've always got a goal, and that you recognize hitting it. Gotta keep positive!

No need for any repayment on anything, I enjoy doing this. If you ever have any other questions or just want to play some normals and ask about stuff live, feel free to add me. I mostly play norms with friends and stuff, since i'm relatively casual.

Ah, right, and in addition to the other thing I said you wanna check out minion wave manipulation guides. Your mechanics on Kat seem up to par, so it's your metagame that needs work.

Awesome I will, do you have any source suggestions? A few of the youtubers I watch talk about wave manipulation and how to freeze and all that, I know 4 minions extra is a freeze and how to Q the enemy champ to pull a couple melee minions to catch the next friendly wave near my turret, but the when and where I seem to struggle with...

Kat's a feast or famine champion. When you're behind, you're BEHIND. You're not going to be doing much for your team. I would save the Kat pick for when your team is picking champions that can carry if you possibly fall behind, and learn 1 or 2 other champions that are useful while behind for times when your team doesn't pick hard carry champions. Lux, Vel, Morg, and Anivia are all very strong right now and offer a good combination of damage and utility. If you fall behind you will still be useful.

OP wants to carry games. Kat is a great champion to take over games and carry 1v9. I wouldn't suggest changing his OTP.

As a decent Kat player - my advice is you gotta know when to go in. For example if the enemy uses all their abilites on minons, or the enemy uses all their cc - then you would go all in.

You should also have some kat combo's in your head. I played alot of kat so it comes naturally. I suggest you do the same.

PLAY ALOT OF GAMES.

Also - check your runes- make sure you're using them properly. like conq vs tank teams or DH agasint squishies.

ALSO kat doesnt really have early game , but she has a small lvl 3 power spike . Depending on the match up you can use it to your advantage.

Finally. if you can get out of silver with kat , you can probably reach plat. FINALLY FINALLY, check yoour build - YOU NEED GUNBLADE. but yea - experience is all you need. BUT part of winning mid is also knowing when to roam, as well as wave management. You dont randomly roam is ALL calculated.

KATARINA NEVER 1V5'S UNLESS INSANELY FED.

also- Do not initiate unless you're super fed or super high level. Let the tank go in , then GO ALL IN!!!

also - If you ever fall behind - DO NOT FIGHT THE ENEMY. instead set up the wave to crash to you - then let your jgler gank. OR KS EVERYONE

hope this helps a fellow kat player :*
