At this point Varus needs a complete VGU

Looking at all the current Marksman we have and looking back at Varus, he doesn't offer anything what anyone else can't do better, so you are essentially left with the question...

What makes him a worthwhile pick? Honestly, nothing.

Everything that he has, someone is guaranteed to do it better...

  • DPS - Ashe/Kog'Maw/Aphelios/Jinx
  • Poke - Caitlyn/Senna/Ezreal/Aphelios
  • Anti-Tank Damage - Vayne/Kai'Sa
  • CC - Aphelios/Ashe
  • Executing Enemies - Jhin/Kai'Sa/Kog'Maw/Aphelios
  • Debuffs - Kog'Maw/Ashe/Aphelios

He doesn't really have his own niche and that's why he's not a worthwhile pick, he doesn't really have any mechanics, offer any sort of skill expression because there's nothing to learn aside from landing abilities which aren't hard to hit to begin with.

He's a really cool Champion but his gameplay is the reason for his unpopularity and why playing him might feel unsatisfying.

##He deserves a VGU, now more then ever.

Ex varus one trick here with 400k points

I do agree he does need a vgu but in my opinion there are others who need it much more. one of the things that bother me are the fact that they updated his splash are and didnt do anything to his ingame model. in his new splash his purple legs have a sort of shape to them. but on his old splash and current ingame model they are random little squiggles and tentacles. I really lost touch with varus when they updated his story. i loved how he was someone out for revenge and his voice really made that seem like it too, but you cant change a character at its core and leave him the same IN THE FUCKING GAM. like where does that make any sense. im just ranting at this point. but to sum it up. i love varus, i feel like hes a forgotten champion with alot of potential.

Also his own niche was strait removed when they made him a on hit character insted of lethality. he was the only lethality ranged champ, but riot hates when adcs have fun.

We don't need more VGUs, we need to stop powercreeping the game.

Instead of buffing every ADC, nerf assassins and the bruisers that are basically assassins.

If mages take over, nerf mages.

STOP WITH THE FUCKING POWERCREEP AND VGUS THAT ALSO INTRODUCE MORE POWER CREEP.

If I had to say Varus needed more skill expression or VGU stuff...I honestly would have to say it'd fall to his W and E. I think it can be worked with.

I don't believe he's so out of tune that he needs it right now but I don't think he's top tier by any means. He does have a special sort of niche in being one of the ADCs capable of dealing massive damage from a pretty far range The arrow is about the same range as rank 2 kog ult, and scales much harder than kog ult, with a much wider hitbox. I would not say that koggie has him beat in the ranged execution regard. Varus ult hitbox is cracked, and the subsequent empowered Q is pretty much a full one shot on anyone who got hit with the ult/arrow combo with the blight stacks and execute damage. It's a pretty weird situation that compares him loosely with Cait and MF in being actually like a "bursty" AD from range, particularly with the lethality build. But beyond that, he's also versatile in the fact he can just go the AS/onhit route and shred things similar to a kog without losing the threat of those long range arrows-to-knees.

There's actually a good amount of lenience in being a more "jack of all trades" sort of champ - I'd call Varus probably one of if not the most versatile adc in terms of actual builds. Ashe goes AS-heavy. Cait goes crit/AD heavy. MF likes lethality. Kog and ez are kind of weird...running like mana/AP hybrid scaling in a way...

Varus can actually run almost any of their builds with a somewhat ok playstyle still. Though the full Kog/Ez builds are still a bit more troll, it's definitely not impossible to run them on Varus effectively. I personally almost always rush rageblade on him honestly, the early hybrid damage is pretty strong in lane.

I dont consider him top tier, as I said. I feel honestly like he's somewhat mediocre...though I may be a bit biased by my lack of a game loss with him on this account I still think the versatility and his scaling overall can still keep up well into plat games. I think it'd be much more difficult into diamond+ though.

I feel like one of the champs who needs it most right now is a different ADC: I don't feel like Tristana is in a good place right now. She's pretty feast or famine - if she gets ahead, she's FUCKING NUTTY and becomes a pretty much unstoppable force...if she falls behind, she's literally better AFK. Her Q and W bring next to nothing to a losing lane, her E literally makes it next to impossible to properly freeze a lane so trying to play safe in a losing lane is really rough, and I'd say she's top 3 adcs and top 10 champs in the game in terms of item dependency - if you fall behind in gold on tristana, it's stupidly difficult to be relevant in fights. Add in that her entire playstyle runs off of being able to repeatedly rocket jump her way to her resets and you're looking at someone who MUST succeed OR ELSE.

Even then...I don't think Tristana is the worst champ in the game...just one of the worst to try to play past 5 minutes if you fall behind.
