I think, as an ADC (in bot lane) main I have every right to complain about assassins?
I WANT my teammates to pick tanks. I want my top laner to have CC (preferably more than one, preferably on a lower cooldown ability, preferably hard cc). I want my jungler to have cc. I want my support to have lots of cc. I want a solid front line in front of me. I want the mage on the back line with me to even have some CC to help peel once the front line is broken through.
Do I get it? Not in the current meta. They're picking Graves / Fiora / Gangplank, etc...
The problem is that these picks are so oppressive to tanks in the laning phase that it's hard to pick tanks and not get raged at by those who don't understand that Graves is going to mess up a Maokai in lane. So everyone picks these non-tank non-cc picks and the ADCs have no peel from the assassins.
Maybe assassins aren't the problem, but they're part of it. Mages at least are the huge losers in all of this because not having an assassin against a team with no peel is a huge loss. We need to fix the oppressiveness of laning phase without making tanks overbearing in the mid/late game, and simultaneously introduce some counterplay to assassins by making these tanks viable.
You know, like when league was the closest to perfect it has ever been in early-mid season 5. Ignoring Sejuani and Gragas, league of tanks was amazing. Assassins actually had to risk getting CC locked in order to try to do their job, it was truly high risk high reward - exactly what they should be. Everyone else got to do their job too and we have the most balanced, least stompy games I've ever seen. With most teams now, assassins just get the high reward and without tanks on the enemy team there's no risk trying to get out.
