People just can't play kog properly. Hes ment to be the protect the carry comp with insane late game damage. Not a champion that can just hit w and out damage/dps everyone 12 minutes in the game. Its why they reverted him. Kalsita however is is garbage and i wish riot would fix her. They gutted her so hard.
The only people playing Kog right now are his mains. Before his remake, Kog typically sat in the 52-53% range more or less like other unpopular (though balanced) champions like Galio. However, at this point no one is doing well with Marksmen Kog.
And no, you're wrong about 'protect the Kog' being a late game only thing. That's the same mistake Riot is making because they, like you, don't really grasp how the Juggermaw comp worked.
Between his Ult, unnerfed Bork, and old Trinity Kog had a VERY powerful mid game power spike. He was one of the stronger mid game Marksmen and unlike early game bullies he didn't drop off late game since he could pick up Infinity Edge and a pair of old Phantom Dancers. Having a powerful mid-game is absolutely vital to the Juggermaw comp, because mid-game is when skirmishes and team fights start happening. And if your team's only power source doesn't kick in by the time fights are starting the whole thing falls apart.
Marksmen Kog isn't just terrible right now because Riot nerfed him for no comprehensible reason. Marksmen Kog is terrible right now because of the specific nerfs he ate along with the changes to itemization ruining his mid to late transition.
