STOP MAKING ATTACK BETTER THEN DEFENSE RIOT!

Diamondserpent··4 votes·542 views

I mean seriously, whats the point of wasting gold on armor and magic resist when a MasterYi or Yasuo or XinZhao or Jinx can just by this item 3035 and you become as squishy as a mage. I mean seriously Riot, I know that you think "defense is boring" and trying to force people to fight more often gives you LCSBIGPLAYS but still, strategy should be required to win this game, not blind luck, broken items or rediculously lucky strikes item 3087 and item 3031 . You might as well make a statement saying that you want tanks to be useless and for this game to be like Super Smash Bros Brawl. I mean seriously, I wonder why tanks would even bother to build tanky considering all this absolute cheese. So many AD items have tank killing properties and EVERYONE builds them item 3153 . So why even bother to have tanks in the game when you have bruisers, champs that can be tanky AND deal damage Vi cough. I am so tired of Riot favoring luck based playstyles and aggressive styles over defensive styles and playing strategically.

If attack didn't get better than defense over time, the game would stall out, last forever, and get pretty boring.

That is not an #LCSBIGPLAYS thing, as a general play-ability of the game thing.

Playing defensively is not boring, Riot has made the game boring by being constantly focused on attack and damage.

They focus on it because People like doing Damage, And its more fun to play.

Diamondserpent2 votes

Thats a completely biased viewpoint or nobody would play tanks or defensive champs. Why do that when you play the latest broken assassin and kill everyone and GG at 20 minutes. Not winning through your own skill, just the sheer power Riot gives you.

Your saying all of this when cinder-hulk exists.

Diamondserpent2 votes

Cinderhulk, isn't the be all, end all of tank itemization. I am talking about champs like Vayne and items like item 3153 which make a whole class of champion pretty much obsolete.

Aatrox Herself3 votes

How does Gragas, Sejuani, and Maokai not make every mage obsolete.

Diamondserpent2 votes

They don't have a few broken items to make mage's obsolete.

Aatrox Herself2 votes

I disagree because both Gragas and Sejuani can build an item 3001 and get a ton of MR and do more damage than the mage they are fighting. And they will still have a crap-ton of health to fight everyone else on your team.

Randuins Omen, Frozen Heart, Thornmail, Ninja Tabi. Best items to counter her.

I wasn't talking about playing defensively. I was talking about the AD itemization vs defense itemization.

If the AD items didn't scale so hard into late game and anti-health stacking items didn't exist, then games would last over 60 minutes [cough season 2 cough] and they would be boring farm fests with little action or strategy. basically, just stat balls crashing into each other until one stat ball was higher and then they win.

Making "flashy plays" because your champ is broken and the items you build are too, does little for skill, you might as well ask Riot to win the game for you? How is that fun?

That all sounds like a lot of opinion.

If a tank gets ahead, it is super hard for an ADC to blow them up, unless the ADC is ahead also. AD items are meant to be REALLY strong once you get 3 or 4 of them completed. Tank items are meant to be really good once you get 1 or 2 of them. As a tank, you are supposed to use your early to mid game beefyness to delay the other ADC's power spike.

You know thats a load of crap, not while item 3153 item 3035 exist

Not really. The 30% AS slow is going to gimp a lot of her dmg. If you stack all of that armor, her non-silver bolt dmg is going to be non-existant.

If she just has a BoTRK and a LW, your Randuin's and FH will negate the AS increase from BoTRK and lower the number of silver bolts she can proc. The armor will lower the AA and BoTRK passive to a negligible amount. Then if you add a Thornmail, she will take 30% of the pre-mitigation dmg [before Armor and MR reduce the AA dmg] from each AA. Then all you have to do is stack health to make her have to kill you with silver bolts, instead of her AA dmg. Now it is up to your team to kill her before she can kill you.

You have to learn how the items interact and figure out the best way to build. Just proclaiming them broken doesn't help you get better.

It's a question of risk and reward. If offense didn't outscale defense, there would be no reason to buy it, because it's a riskier purchase. As such, the game would just stall out into one large wet noodle fight between tanks.

Also, you'd invalidate a number of classes' powercurves. Do you really want to farm for lategame when, even in that lategame, you're not stronger than someone who was strong early?

You say this without realizing that the current meta is a tank meta.

Diamondserpent2 votes

It wasn't a tank meta as soon as Riot released Ekko . Its pretty clear the direction they want the game to go in. Look at his Ult's AP ratio and damage, the insane mobility.

redniwediS2 votes

The "tank meta" is really just an excuse for people who don't understand how to play around strong tanks to not learn. If you want to know what a tank meta actually looks like look up the old item Force of Nature.

Alright, the big thing you need to understand here is the difference between MOBA games and other games. In MMOs and some RPGs the tank's job is to hold aggro, often indefinitely. This means the tank needs to have a defense that is greater than the enemies offense. Usually this isn't possible, which is where the healer comes in.

In a MOBA or other arena style game tanks do not work this way. The tanks job here is to take damage for a finite amount of time while disrupting the enemy team. There are few skills that force your opponent to target you, and so you have to either look like a tastey kill or be an annoying piece of crap to get them to focus you. If your opponent knows they cannot kill you they will not focus you, and so you won't be able to do anything for your team besides tank turrets and push out waves.

This leads to offense needing to trump defense if defense is going to do anything more than allow offense to deal damage over a longer time frame. It has nothing to do with games stalling out and taking forever (play a full tank custom game, it doesn't stall or take too long due to base scaling and experience advantages) and everything to do with applying the principles of tanking in a way that allows a tank to control the field of battle without taking control away from your opponents.
