CHEATING: NO! Riot doesn't care!

Riot really doesn't give a rats ass about cheating in this game. Drophacks are becoming more and more common when people start losing games. Scripters are also become more and more common and as usual Riot does nothing. There isn't even a REPORT function for out and out cheating which really shows riot to be so arrogant that they believe nobody CAN cheat on League.

Its about time Riot actually HIRED people to go over the server data, look for cheaters, drophacks, scripts etc and actually BANNED these people because at the moment, they are raking in the money on what is essentially an unfair game.

I know its really really pathetic that its always EU people and not people from the UK that cheat at League. I suppose they don't really have much to look forward in their poor countries but "different culture" aside, EVERYONE should understand that CHEATING IS WRONG in any culture and therefore there should be CONSEQUENCES for people that do it. You have the capability to IP ban known cheaters so they CAN'T have another account. So just DO IT!

Because from here, it looks as if you just don't give a s**t, as long as people feed you money.

Exactly, why are people allowed to get away with this?

Riot only detect certain scripts being used. To be fair I have come acoss what appears to be a scripter rarely drophacks a few times but not super often and a few bots here and there

Actually Riot does look for cheaters. It's not always an easy task and is based on the severity and how obvious or not said cheater is.

They try. Client-side scripting is extremely difficult to reliably detect and deal with. Literally every online game I have ever played where scripting/botting would give an advantage has had it present in some form. You can't "go over the server data" of literally millions of games per day by hand, you have to make tools to analyze it. Then the scripters make better/more subtle scripts, and you have to try to improve your tools, and it goes back and forth like that forever. They can investigate players who are repeatedly reported for it, but that's a slow and painstaking process too.

I haven't heard any widespread complaints about drophacks since last year. Riot hardened a bunch of things around their network infrastructure to make it much harder to pull off, and also banned a whole bunch of players for it. Drophacking is also very, very obvious unless players do it EXTREMELY infrequently, because it's not hard to figure out "hey, this guy is in 100x as many dropped games as everyone else and he's always behind when the game is dropped".

Riot used to use IP bans and stopped issuing them several years ago. They do not work and cause unacceptable amounts of collateral damage.

So what CAN be done to stop this behavior? Why can't Riot make an effort to at least SHOW that they take cheating seriously.

http://boards.na.leagueoflegends.com/en/c/miscellaneous/5so1YhEl-bot-bans-incoming, for a recent thread talking about botting in particular. They can't give out many details about what they are doing without making things harder on themselves. Ability scripting is an ongoing thing they are constantly working on.

Every time there's an exploit (like that recent "instant recall" one) they ban players who abused it once it's fixed.

I was just in a game with at least 2 of them. Their Morgana hit Trist with a stun, in mid flight, like 3 times. It was happening to our whole team. I understand that some people are highly skilled, and I also accept that I'm not the greatest thing to ever hit League. But you can go watch 10 hours of Diamond Morgana footage on YouTube right now and not see her land as many perfectly timed impossible stun-shots as this one did on just 1 of us in 15 minutes. In fact, it was such a sound defeat that I actually "felt" like something was off about the whole experience.

Some guy on the team called them "scripters" and I kinda brushed it off as disgruntled. But as an afterthought, I did a little research and learned that hacks and scripts are easy to come by, are freely available to anyone who wants to download them. And they actually work. You can see them running on YouTube, and once I saw what they could do and how they worked, it pretty much explained A LOT of mystery surrounding a surprising number of players I encounter on a daily basis.

Most online games I've played have some kind of anti-cheating measures set in place, and are followed up with severe consequences, like perma-bans. Even if the anti-cheat measures are bypassed, they eventually get caught in an update, and the vicious punishments that ensue make everyone FEAR even the thought of hacking. From my understanding, this game isn't fresh off the press, therefore it's not still working out those nuisances found in the early stages of a game's life.

So my question is this; why is this allowed or tolerated in League of Legends? Before you say it's not tolerated, consider the truth that hacks on league mirror the social conventions of marijuana just before it was legalized in California. Sure, technically it was illegal, but you could smoke a joint in front of a police station and the most you could expect was to be told to put it out or smoke it at home... Why the apathetic disposition towards what clearly undermines the entire point of it all and severely affects the experiences of so many in a very negative way?

Right they dont care. And as you see the majority in this media are cheaters thats why you get downvoted. This is the reality.

I've dealt with too many scripters every game. I have proof, people script; riot doesnt care. My old account was banned because I would get pissed off and rage on them, didn't end well. They didn't get banned, I did. 3 + yrs with tons of champs wasted. I spoke with a tech and they told me, "if you're angry they are cheating, don't say anything." So basically shut up and deal with it.
