The future of bot lane

Bot lane. I've heard Riot has some serious changes in mind for it in the mid season (which will probably be patch 8.9, but we don't know for certain just yet. I like how Riot is going to try and introduce more melee champs to the bot lane, thus creating more diversity in what is honestly the stalest lane there is. Now, another thing I heard is that they'll be changing the way that crit works. They haven't specified how they'll change it, assuming that they even do, but in short Riot might be changing crit so that it's no longer an RNG. If I'm not mistaken their goal is to make the damage from crit more consistant and less bursty, which is understandable. Because sometimes, crit is borderline useless, whereas at other times, it's disgustingly strong. Especially if you have 3 crit items in your inventory. At the same time though, the burst crit provides is essential for a couple of champions; two in particular. Those two being Rengar and Shaco. Shaco especially. If Riot makes crit less bursty, I really wonder what they'll do to help these two out. Once again, Shaco in particular since Rengar can at least get away with going full lethality. Once again, the crit changes aren't confirmed, so at the moment all we can do is speculate.

TL;DR: I like what Riot has planned for the bot lane meta, but I'm iffy when it comes to what they might do for crit.

No, they are not bringing melees to botlane, they talked about bringing mages to botlane which is way easier in terms of balance.

For a "team game", winning is more often than not decided by how well your botlane does. Just throwing that out there.
