Why is there no punishment for players that play awful in ranked?

I don't understand how 99% of the kids I get in gold got there. I had to win 8 out of 10 placement games to place, and 99% of my games since, I get players that obviously belong in bronze or not in ranked entirely. They have 0 understanding of the game. The concept of pings, teamwork, objectives, team fights, reactive builds, are completely foreign. I saw Riot plans on making ranking even easier next season where you *can't get deranked...that's nice. And before anyone checks my stats and thinks they're somehow clever, i'd like to inform you almost all of my games are 2-4 vs 1 in lane, and unlikely any existing team help. Also if i've gotten a bad score take note of my assists, if they're low or 0 that shows you I likely had all afks, which that too is common.

The punishment is a loss of LP.

in promos after your first provisional.

To the rest of your post, you're not really punished unless you're not trying to win. You can't expect players to always play at their best: you can have bad days, your fav champ banned, filled, etc.
