What should you do if your ping spikes really high during a game?

I just started a game with my normal east cost ping. Then about 5-10 minutes in or so, my ping shoots up to ~1250ms. Usually when this happens, it lets up in a minute or so. It stayed that high the whole game.

That wasn't pleasant. I ended up building tanky Fiora because my ping was so high. Dealing damage to ADCs with thornmail is pro.

Tell your team and back off to tower or base while you fix it, even if a client restart is needed.

Does restarting the client help with a ping issue?

I used to have a random FPS issue that was fixed on restart, but [that not being the issue in question here] I should've said a "connection" reset rather than client. PC restart may be needed in some cases but not typically related to LoL.

Some combination of 5 and/or 1 or 7 (you can get away with 7 better if you're playing a mobile poke champ, but you should still back off and play much more cautiously at the least)

You should always, ALWAYS assume it's Riot's fault, even if nobody else is having trouble.

Truthfully, I usually try to play very defensively until it goes away. If the other team is looking to teamfight, I either try to split push (as squishy) or just do my best to take damage and cc (as tank)

a lot of the time it actually is riot's fault though, for example, pairing players that are across the map from each other. A perfectly fine ping can become destroyed at random

some players aren't even allowed into the game when the match starts because of an "error"
