The disadvantage to grabbing
>
as your first two big purchases is that it leaves you at a deficit of unique actives/passive that could otherwise help you win lane a lot harder like

. Very safe and foolproof way to play if you don't over extend though.
I'm not a Cass player but I do build these two first on champions like
for the obvious advantages of a bottomless mana pool/health return on casting skills/respectable chunk of AP/bigger health pool to survive bursty all-ins more often than not and it works well. Taking
will let you soak even more burst damage and comes across as a lot more useful than ignite on several midlaners. You could also run with scaling hp/armor seals and maybe a Quint to come out of lane a lot more durable than you'd otherwise be--the difference in survivability is very noticeable.
If you're gonna rush those two items then it might be prudent to wrap up the build with a 20% CDR item like Morellocon so you can chuck skills out faster, an Abyssal staff for maxing out your damage against people who've begun to stack MR, and the Deathcap
you could just grab tear then ROA while the tear is stacking
ROA is just a failsafe item for most mages. Yes, build it in Cassy for a passive siege potential.
