Wouldn't want any tanks to be playable top, now would we?

PS: I know people are going to come with the usual arguments so yes. The Galio nerfs were warranted, it's just so funny that even after these nerfs I still see people complain about him even though he's almost Nautilus-levels of awful in terms of winrate.

what's a nautilus? 44% win rate? better buff 50% win rate Rammus by decreasing selfslow from 60% to 30%, not going to break him at all he needed those buffs

Malicious Metal22 votes

Oh, I can already see this board being littered with Rammus complaints.

Ahristocats2 votes

i might be one of them

i'm climbing atm while being in d1 promos, soon i'll be matched again against LEXER shieldstar and i couldn't beat his rammus toplane before now with this, how the fuck will i be able to beat this shit?

why would you ever buff a 50% win rate tank when nautilus and poppy have both 44% and 46% win rate

Malicious Metal3 votes

Rammus is easily shred by AP Mordekaiser but he's so annoying to deal with whenever he's good.

Well, they did buff poppy, yet Nautilus got preemtively nerfed before the tank update. All he needs is lower mana costs, more regen or mana pool in general to be viable again.

Ahristocats2 votes

poppy buff didn't change her win rate, who would think that +1% max hp damage would change something And yes, nautilus needs less mana cost

now, i forgot that i'm playing morde unlike before, that's a good thing against rammus

->item 3151 This This is your friend in the battles to come

Big Lincoln7 votes

my fav garen item

3TWarrior1 votes

shame so few items help his E XD

Big Lincoln1 votes

lethality/last whisper works great for his E

most people avoid it because they feel it makes him too squishy

3TWarrior1 votes

yeah, just kind of "cuts" into his defense though whereas the AP stuff can stay defensive

I don't use the AP stuff though...been forever since I played garen as well

Tormentula1 votes

I like item 3116 better

Fuck getting kited

Bodkins Odds1 votes

It's actually +2% max hp damage, since it was a +1% buff to both procs of damage.

Because of some people that didn't like that their champion now needs a little more than simply run your opponent down with little counterplay spells and call that a nerf. But I don't think it will be as bad because Thornmail is loosing damage.

Big Lincoln13 votes

Thornmail changes are a big nerf to rammus damage output so at least there's a silver lining

AirKingNeo2 votes

Rammus sucks right now.

His playrate is too low for accurate winrate stats, like Kayle.

Ahristocats2 votes

Rammus is extremely strong right now and does not need buffs, any every single rammus otp in diamond+ would agree

you can ask renascent, king odin, LEXER shieldstar just find me ONE high elo rammus main that thinks rammus is weak and needs a buff

the vocal minority that is the board, filled of 30 games on rammus in silver 5 think that he should get buffed is not the same

rammus does not need a buff, but maybe meddler decided to buff him as a compensation for thornmail nerf, since thornmail will be worse on tanks like rammus since it will slow attack speed, which means it will nerf rammus damage since enemies will hit him less

BioticBrony13 votes

Um, just because someone has a low winrate doesn't mean people can't find them annoying to face.

Heck I still hate facing garen despite him being weak right now mainly just because his kit is binary.

Also when does winrate correlate to how a champion feels to play against cause I remember two champions who are now reworked who used to feel so bad to play against one of them was thrown off the free week even after he was nerfed to the ground.

kasfas6 votes

That also brings up the question, how the hell did sion's winrate drop from nuber 5 to number 33?!

The hell caused that? His skill max hasn't changed at all, and his counters aren't doing any better than they were before.

I think it's a combination of doran's nerfs and sunfire changes because like I had said before tanks want the spike from getting bami's and not have to wait for an extra 200 gold.

Símo1 votes

Your right about sunfire changes, but you forgot that Fiora Darius Gangplank and a few other champions that give no counterplay to tanks took over toplane.

kasfas2 votes

But they didnt get directly stronger from the recent patch. Sion dropped from 5 to 33 in terms of winrate according to op.gg, in addition to his pick rate DROPPING by 0.07 percent (miniscule but less people are playing the champ). realistically i think its because riot still doesnt know how fucked up the tank item changes actually were and have no clue how to fix these tanks. You can fix them by letting them have duelling power again, but for some god-forsaken reason they hate the idea of a tank who can interact with his lane opponent and must exclusively farm and roam in order to have any miniscule impact on the game.

Símo1 votes

They got stronger, because of how fucked tanks were, and darius was already kicking out tanks from top lane.

Ahristocats2 votes

then why did darius win rate dropped

=?

Símo2 votes

Riot fbi stealth nerfs and Fiora and how darius gets kited hard by adcs and adcs are in meta, and that's not good for darius either.

SenzaRespiro891 votes

Playing gp top is a death sentence in this meta right now lol. Lee, elise, kha zix, warwick will just towerdive you over and over again.

Símo1 votes

Well he's strong against alot of top laners, and you can't always dive him (gp has a jungler too ya know!)

Sion has been one of the most reliable top laners I've seen. He's normally at the top of the winrate charts and it's so odd that he would drop so far without any direct changes.

kasfas1 votes

Exactly. This leads me to believe that some recent sweeping changes caused fundamental problems with the champions balance that make it extremely volatile.

cough tank update sucks cough

But I want to give this another patch I think, and if it remains low I want to see more sion buffs. This time maybe they can change his e to better complement his q damage by increasing the armour shred. Perhaps instead just increase the ratio on his q by another 5% base ad or even better make his q do more damage when not charged as much.

Tank item changes sucked dick. News at 11

TeCoolMage1 votes

some people play him crit, some play him tank, some play him on hit, others play him AP support, and then the winrate graph looks like roller coaster track

Big Lincoln3 votes

good, good

less competition for my rise to power

Malicious Metal1 votes

Funny thing is, people still build SIX tank items and wonder why their win rate plummeted. It's clearly intended for him to build at least one or two ap items.

Wouldn't a Juggernaut main love tanks which give easy lanes? Or maybe there's something I'm missing.

kasfas1 votes

Oh yea I always build roa on him, even before the nerfs. Only problem is I can't buy abyssal anymore because their passives overlap. Have tried rylais though, can say it's real nice having a slow on q in addition to his base cc.

Sahn Uzal2 votes

Granted, he still has a respectable playrate, unlike Nautilus. But Yes. That's a pretty shitty winrate lol

THE RlVER KlNG1 votes

Still much smaller than Riven, Fiora, Kled, J4, Darius, etc.

i won't come with usual arguments... just with a plain YES*[slayer-pantheon-popcorn]*

Salson1 votes

Competitive balance strikes again.

VoraciousX1 votes

People are still building him like an AD tank, even in the mid lane. Riot are trying to make him a magic resist focused tank to compete in mid lane. They nerfed him in that specific way for a reason. His Q still hurts like hell though even with no AP items. The top picked core items are all ONE MR item and 2 armor items. In the top lane, when he's picked, 65% of the time it's against an AD top laner. When he's picked mid lane, he still builds mostly armor despite his mid laner being AP. He loses around 44% of the time top. Gee, I wonder why.

TLDR Galio isn't meant to counter everyone. If you see a lot of AP picks on the enemy team, that's when you're supposed to pick him. Not every single game. Oh and people are building him in a way which he's not meant to be built.

PhoenixOfHeaven1 votes

Wait. Since when was Nautalius in a bad spot....? His win rates are down, but he's done me wonders. I think he has THE most CC in the game, too!

Lyndris1 votes

His kit is literally, cc with cc sprinkled on top with cc on the side and a cc dip... But he just lacks mana to solo lane/jung...

Dr Poro3 votes

Winrate isn't everything, but when it's 44%, it's safe to say he's in a bad spot. I guess Sunfire cape got nerfed too hard along with less HP in items.

PhoenixOfHeaven1 votes

Yeah I suppose so... Maybe touching up his E for better minion clear'll be a start...

Meanie401 votes

Nautilus's drop show Rito's classic balancing:

  1. Nerf the champion.
  2. Nerf the item the champion was abusing (Doran's Ring).
  3. Leave the previous champion nerf in place.

GG Rito, GG.

Geshultz1 votes

Rest in peace Nautilus.

SweedishGunner1 votes

I think the issue here is Riot wants these guys to optimise into some AP to do some damage, but doing that early makes you too squishy and doing it late has no impact on your damage.
