Appropriate ranked champion pool

DragonManSquid··1 votes·4,900 views

I am a top lane main with my secondary role being support. I am trying to build an appropriate pool of champions to play in ranked before I hit level 30. I would like to have five top lane champions three supports and two for each other role. Ideally crossing over on some of these i.e. playing lux support and mid, or alistar top jungle and support. What are the champions you consider must haves, or just easy to fall back on in autofill situations. This is my current champion pool goal Top:Garen Amumu Jax Jayce Malphite Jungle:Amumu MasterYi Mid:Lux Ahri Support:Lux Blitzcrank Alistar Adc:Jhin MissFortune

I'd love your opinion on this, it'd be a great help, thanks!

I can make champion recommendations all day, but the most important advice I can give that will influence your success positively is to not go into Ranked as soon as you hit 30. You won't really be prepared and will likely lose quite a bit and could get stuck in Bronze longer than you should.

I suggest practicing in Normal Draft for a while after you hit 30. Get some Mastery levels on your chosen champions, and fill out some Rune Pages. You can work with just the 2 default pages and fill them with the permanently discounted Tier 3 Runes to start, those will work fine for a while.

lol this is the checklist I have on my desktop

1: ap/ad/tank rune page

2: 10 role/main masteries

3: 2 champs for each role 5 for main

4: know all roles

5: see every champ

6: 2 main roles

7: 500 games

and I don't even intend to jump into ranked as soon as i finish this list. The reason I have it, is so once I am ready, I don't find myself wasting time learning what I could already know.

Ok thanks, the only thing I am hesitant to agree with is Irelia. From what I understand she is somewhat complex and since I don't intend on maining her I feel like this would put me at a disadvantage.

Because I really enjoy them both, and plan on putting in the time to learn them. Irelia I don't enjoy, so I probably won't take the same time to master her. edit: I also really enjoy lux, and have had success when playing her. It's also a bonus that I can play her mid lane.

Honestly I can tell you champs all day but at the end it's who you get a lot with. I like ekko and his kit i can play him in lane and suck with him in jungle. It's all about who you can control better. I mean i like playing Nautilus support and i did great but when i tried toping as him it did not seem to go to well for me.

Ok, I feel like the champion I have the most control with is garen. My ability to consistently land q's sets me apart from other garen otp's.

Well if you like garen jungle wise i suggest volibear, shyvanna, xin(since you like yi so do i). Also i suggest J4 and even vi.

Support naut is great i like him and thresh

Mid my go to is ziggs, ryze mage wise

adc i like trist, ashe,Sivir and kalista

these are the best i can give since you seem to have a bit in common with my champs.

I don't like yi, he's not much fun for me. He is there to fall back on. I have amumu as my secondary because I actually play him. I don't intend on playing jungle unless it's to learn, so I feel like it's a waste of time to learn junglers when I already have one in my top lane champ pool. I'll def check out sivir though.

For support, you probably shouldn't count Lux; she's not exactly a meta support.

Zyra is the best poke support atm(possibly just best overall). She never really gets banned because meta is banning top lane/jg, and is a better choice than Lux for learning poke because even if you miss your skillshots, you still get plant damage. I'd definitely recommend learning her first.

I'd recommend learning another ranged sustain support as well, maybe Janna or Soraka.

Myself, I do play Lux support, but I've had so many games of experience on her already and she's still hard to play. It's unforgiving if you miss the snare, and if you can't hit enough skillshots you just lose lane and are useless. That said, she's pretty fun to play, and the 100-0 burst combo at level 6 is something a lot of ADC's/squishy supports don't expect. Not a good champ for starting out, but I'd recommend learning her at some point when you're expanding your support pool.

What about mf support? Not sure how good it is though.

MF support is bad unless your lane partner is Ashe AND your opponent is Zyra. I'd say to stay away, she's a specific counter support, but is a terrible choice for actually being a support, especially now that ADC's in general are in a weak spot.

I'm a support main, but as for input on the other off-roles, I'd say jungle you should add someone like Evelynn or Hecarim with killer ganks and no difficult skillshots(and maybe not play Yi), mid pick up Malzahar to counter assassins, and for ADC Caitlyn is really easy to play and strong too.

Why not yi? He is easy and cheap.

Yi's alright, but you need to have good timing on the Alpha Strike/Meditate and he falls off late game when he just gets CC'd and killed. He's easy to play up until a certain point, and then you need to like break through a ceiling to really advance with him. Being cheap is pretty good though.

If you are playing both top and support, I'd recommend trying Nautilus since he is rather poweful in both roles.
