Revealing Shaco boxes, ..

Elite4Runner··2 votes·2,187 views

I understand that revealing the Shaco box with a Control Ward, Oracle Lens, or Oracle's Elixir causes them to be targetable, ... but what good does that do for melee champions when the box still has a 300 attack range?

"Okay, there is a box there .. I can't do anything about that.. good to know..."

Why not make revealing the box with one of these lower the attack range to 100 so I can clear it, but if I'm dumb enough to just walk right up to it, it will still fear me?

FYI, all melee champions have an attack range between 125 and 250 without being empowered in any way. Some can increase this range through abilities.

ummm... it also removes the fear and once revealed it dies in like 8 seconds automaticaly.

Hm, .. that definitely didn't happen in my last match.

I got feared as soon as I went to attack it.

I will grant you that it was an ARAM and I revealed it with Oracle's Elixer, but it should work the same.

If not, then I would redact that portion of my post, but this should still be done with Oracle's Elixer.

I have played on SR against Shaco, .. but it's been long enough that I don't remember this interaction.

if you have oracle activated and Shaco places a box at you, the fear will happen even if you have oracle on. If you want to avoid this then you'll have to wait 1.5 seconds for his box to arm before continuing the chase/fight.

Unless they changed it very recently, revealing boxes activates the traps and you shouldn't get feared as a result. They take 5 seconds to die once activated unless they are destroyed by a champion/tower/minion/jungle camp first.

I wish revealing did something like what you described though. And that's actually a good idea, keep the range normal when not revealed, and lower the activation range of the boxes once they are revealed so melee characters can hit them with auto attacks.

Seems better than my idea I posted about recently that suggested lowering the range of the boxes at all times so that melee characters could attack them once revealed. My suggestion would have been a bigger nerf to the boxes, yours would be a healthier compromise.

or just reveal and stun the box... and if you don't kill the box within the 10 seconds of oracle being active then the box goes back into stealth. This sounds fait for both Shaco and the enemy because Shaco box should NOT activate and die even if the enemy doesn't kill it, the item is free and available at level 1. like come on.

But if the box gets stunned that means it won't activate I'm assuming, and so they can just run past it because it's no threat. If they have to destroy them to go past that's better for Shaco.

Like I said I like the guy's suggestion above to lower the activation range when the boxes are revealed, so that melee characters can destroy them with auto attacks (but will still get feared/attacked if they get too close). The activation range would be the same as now though when not revealed.

And yes of course if they don't destroy the boxes before the reveal ends or they go out of reveal range, the boxes are stealthed again.

In either case yes I recently made a whole topic about how boxes should only be revealed and not activated for the reasons you just stated.

What they're suggesting would be a buff to Shaco's boxes. Right now revealing them activates them so they're almost useless, and one Oracle Lens activation can clean a whole minefield of them with no effort. They're suggesting making it so they don't activate, but instead are only revealed, and you'd either have to go around or destroy them to get past.. or let yourself get feared/damaged if you're tanky enough and have tons of tenacity so you can ignore the fear almost, I suppose.

Youre wrong, it only reveals them. They still behave the same, the enemy just gains knowledge of their position.

That comment I made was 3 months ago, they've been patched. You're right now, but not back then.
