Why does Lux's ult hit you more often diagonally?

How does this work? Why is this a thing?

Skillshots in this game are buggy the way it's coded. Their hitbox doesn't properly rotate consistently when shot in a straight line going diagonally, which results in sometimes misleading visuals to where it is actually aimed.

One of the many day 1 bugs still in the game.

why does it miss if you ult someone point blank in the face?

Why does it still deal damage to you even if you walk a few feet behind Lux before it finishes casting?

I've seen some shady stuff going on with Lux's ult before, but this is not one of them.

I would assume it hits more diagonally because it covers more of the lane, but if you mean the hitbox is off, Lux's ult has been like that for a while now

Yeah it's the hitbox.

I can dodge it REALLY easily by sidestepping if it's horizontal, but when it's diagonal, no amount of sidestepping will save you from it. You can't sidestep a diagonal Lux ult.

I believe this is because the hitbox of her ult manages to keep the corners of your hitbox inside of it when it's diagonal instead of horizontal. Because Riot makes hitboxes squares instead of circles like they should be for characters in most videogames.

No they are circles, but logically the line hits more often diagonally because the way you usually run is less productive to running away from it while horizontally you are generally moving faster in relation to the hitbox. Although the visuals are still really buggy.
