Can you really blame people for using premades?

Knoyle··35 votes·2,020 views

I mean it's alot better than being solo with Feeding/Trolling/Uncooperative/Flaming/Racial slurring/AFKing Toxic af randoms. Yeah, it doesn't happen every game but let's be real, everyone has had this happen before. It's not fun, It will ruin your climb, It will piss you the hell off. I feel sorry for the die hard Solo players.

Edit: Some of you make some valid points and I thank you for your input. I'll try to remember it.

You can't blame people for using a unfair system that was made to create unfair advantages like the way the creater of the system designed it.

Premades aren't even exploiting the system. The system is fundamentally broken.

Vistha Kai1 votes

Shh, don't let Riot hear that.

They may change the system... in a decade... maybe... I think...

FioraWillCarry11 votes

Premades are overrated. I've had way more success solo. The match maker pits premades against other premades and 9/10 times the other premade is better. Same as if you were solo and enemy Yasuos always go legendary and your Yasuos go 0-7.

I was in B2 a month ago and I started playing with a lot premades...fell back to B4 almost B5 at one point. Solo is the way to climb unless you have a super co-ordinated team. I have a couple of friends that I can premade with and it's practically a sure win but its very very very rare that we will all be on at the same time so its not a reliable way to climb.

Mr Fidori1 votes

I agree, 100%. That being said, if you have someone who is of even skill as you, it can be nice to have just one person on the team who you know isn't completely unwilling to cooperate.

AwesomeChad3 votes

no offense but bronze premades aren't exactly good unless you guys actually utilize the communication advantage you get to relay information and make better plays....

manbearswine1 votes

Thing is, ranked isn't necessarily about a number, it can be about playing in a more competitive environment, some people may be willing for their rank to be lower to reduce the amount of trolls/feeders/afks on their team, I also don't think it's that strange of a concept, mmr is just a number after all.

But yeah, it's far from the unfair advantage people claim it to be.

Godhri2 votes

Too true. I have this buddy I queued with for fun in ranked like a few times and we lost all our games. It's not his fault, but for some reason whenever I queue with him, I lose my games so yea I do have better luck solo.

MrHaZeYo2 votes

I've played this game with the same ~10 people since Season 3, we rarely lose to pre mades. Our team work is just really good lol. So ya I'd rather play in premades than solo/duo, I trust those guys and they trust me.

redfeenix1 votes

Doesn't sound like anyone would wanna queue with those guys tbh. When I mean queuing with friends, I mean that are similar in skill to you. Not bad players who are friendly. Cheers

ChaddyFantome6 votes

Considering a lot of the trolling/feeding/etc comes from premades to begin with, yes.

FatTaco6 votes

I don't blame anyone for being premade or abusing dynamic queue boosting, I think everyone should do it if they can. I blame Riot for enforcing this on the solo players and making the competitive scene look like a joke and I'm glad it's crashing down on them every time ranked gets brought up. It will be fun to see when Riot posts that they were wrong and will improve ranked by making a solo queue again. They won't actually admit they are wrong but if you read between the lines it's easy to spot.

AwesomeChad4 votes

The issue was never the fact the people premaded in ranked. The issue was the fact that Riot gave solo queuers no choice but to be pitted with and against premades. I define my league experience by being able to play ranked solo queue and I will keep playing solo no matter how much the solo player community gets thrown under the bus. Yeah, I'm a loner as a result but thats how I play League of Legends.

Yes.

For every buddy I queue up with, I see that as a 25% reduction in the toxicity of the upcoming game. #winning

What Is Smite3 votes

Solo is the way to climb, I can pretty much play any role bar the ADC position very well. Adaptability is what is core if you want to climb out of your elo and further. Playing supports who compliment and ADC's kit immensely will help bring up that mid game power sooner than expected, for top lane I do suggest a tank if not a bruiser or someone with a decent amount of CC built into their kits, Junglers there are quite a few choices you can go with I personally go with someone who compliments the team's theme whether it's an all-in/poke/pick comp. Finally mid lane tbh I dont have much to say here, the mid lane and ADC are what the other picks usually revolve around this is one of your two core's to decide on what type of playstyle your team has when it come to teamfights late game, don't inflate your ego your team can win a game without you, however mid brings quite a bit to the table. Mid laners are arguably one of the most if not the most mobile champions in the game while trading some of their raw damage or possibly a bit of CC for it, they are like a slippery fish, hard to grasp and if you're not careful they will smack you hard (for those who don't know a fishes body is mostly muscle and can hit you with a force of over 2G's easily)

Well that is my two cents on this even if i did go off the rails there but yea. Enjoy

It's like one of those times you cheat a single player game and you feel guilty about yourself, except in League everyone else also has something against you for queueing with others and Riot actually approves this.

AstroFerrari 2 votes

All of those things came with the territory of playing this game to begin with, as such ranking is much more meaningful to me when done on my own and through my own growth as a player.

Amasa Delano3 votes

You never win on your own. You always win because of how you and your 4 other team members work together. In one case, those 4 people are complete strangers, in another case they are your friends/acquaintances/friends of friends.

Are you saying that it's more meaningful for you to work together to win with complete strangers than with people you might know IRL?

AstroFerrari 9 votes

In a sense yes, but you can't depend on others to win all the time in this game. I'm saying it's been more beneficial to work with strangers than my friends because it's forced me to grow as player instead of just relying on my friends and advantages premades provide that I won't always have access to.

Amasa Delano6 votes

That makes sense, and I can agree with that, actually. Learning to work with strangers can definitely make you grow as a person, as a teammate, as a leader, etc. more than relying on your friends.

On the flipside, if you know things your friends don't, teaching them can also cause you to grow a ton! "If you want to learn something, read about it. If you want to understand something, write about it. If you want to master something, teach it." I personally really like this aspect of League, and other games as well.

One thing Riot doesn't get through their thick skulls is that people are not always going to play with the same friends over and over. Some people actually want to meet strangers and make new friends because that makes things more exciting or spontaneous. Some people also thrive on that spontaneity because its challenging which in turn can make things much more fun.

But they still do with the current Dynamic Queue. If you are the sole solo player in your team, then you are in the midst of strangers. Go ahead. Mingle. Make Friends. No one is stopping you buddy.

AwesomeChad1 votes

But the problem exists where communicating in chat with the people who aren't in your voice communication program becomes a chore. Conversations lose sincerity and people don't really care about others as much. Heres an example of this case in point: I was a solo ADC player in a ranked game and 20 minutes pass by in the game with no communication in the chat. I can clearly see multiple times in this game where my team has done coordinated plays as indicated by the random grouping and my support roaming with my jungler. Since there is no communication in chat, I'm left out of the loop of what my team wants to do. A team fight breaks out when I'm on the other side of the map and all of a sudden, 2-3 people type in chat "Ezreal, group up". Think about it from my perspective. It feels really weird to be on this side of the situation and I don't like the disconnect in communication. Doesn't really feel like a team game if the premade makes the extra person feel like extra baggage.

Godhri1 votes

I don't find that problem. At least not at a consistent level. What do you mean by conversation sincerity? May I get an example?

People haven't cared about other people on the internet since the beginning of the internet. DQ doesn't change this. It doesn't even affect this. If you want people to care about you enough to talk to you then you need to know how to engage people. It's really that simple. The system doesn't change how people interact with each other. People still react to certain social cues, etc. It's a matter of knowing how to talk to people. I don't really care to know anyone in my games so I generally stay quiet unless I am just joking along with them which usually doesn't go beyond that game.

AwesomeChad1 votes

actually, forget the sincerity. This is the internet. But the other points I've made about DQ still stands. Only when chat is the sole form of communication then people won't act with such disconnect.

Godhri2 votes

I don't understand though. You haven't given me anything to support your contention. You claim that DQ causes people to communicate less and more brutishly, but that has always been prevalent in league. How do you know that DQ caused it?

Do you investigate every case that you believe is a premade and have found it to be a premade? In the majority of my games, I found that people still communicate the same way even when they are in a premade. Sure, some might outright ignore you when you make suggestions but that's not exactly negativity or a result of DQ as people have been ignoring others in this game for a long time. An example is when you ping MIA and bot lane dies in a double kill, or when you ping baron and team scuttles around like roaches in your jungle confused as to what to do next after winning a team fight, etc.

redfeenix1 votes

I don't think dealing with randoms shit heads game to game is a measure of a skill in league. I'd rather take the time to improve my last hitting or warding rather than learning to deal with randoms every single game.

That's just my opinion though, I too love making friends with people I meet in game.

However just because some people like to solo doesn't mean you should remove premades for the rest of us.

AwesomeChad1 votes

and that's fine. Thats how you define skill. For me who has been playing this game since season 1, Riot released their ranked system which only had solo and duo queuing allowed (maybe there was trio queue but my memory is fuzzy) and playing in that system they created for 5 consecutive years has shaped my perceptions of what "skill" should be in this game. Season 6 comes and they make this drastic change to that system and it just doesn't feel the same.

LankPants2 votes

Hey man, as long as you queue as 2+ you dodge the toxic 4 man premades that run rampant in this system. I don't blame anyone for wanting to avoid that, it's literally hell.

Troll for Trump2 votes

The thing is, it's not "fair" for the premades to not have to deal with "Feeding/Trolling/Uncooperative/Flaming/Racial slurring/AFKing Toxic af randoms. "

SoloQs have to deal with 4 people that could all potentially be Feeding/Trolling/Uncooperative/Flaming/Racial slurring/AFKing Toxic af randoms.

One of the advantages of premading is that, for every one person you premade with, that's one less person that could be a Feeding/Trolling/Uncooperative/Flaming/Racial slurring/AFKing Toxic af randoms. Not only that, you can pick and choose who you premade with. Stuck in silver? Pick up some plat smurf "friends" and enjoy the freelo.

Extrasolar1 votes

It's one of those things that relies on perspective. People that solo queue a lot hate premades. People that hate solo queue love premades. Both have valid reasons for their opinions. Though I do think Riot should reinstate solo queue as an option for the players who prefer playing solo, I am glad they gave us the ability to queue up with more than just a single person. I like playing with people I trust and can verbally communicate with.

Very bad idea. It would split the player base and everyone would get hideously long wait times.

Extrasolar1 votes

From what I've seen, the player base is already split between people that are anti-Dynamic queue and people that are pro-Dynamic queue. Not to mention, from my experience, the wait times are already longer on average than they were before Dynamic queue, so I don't think much would be different. You'd appease the half of the player base that dislikes Dynamic Queue. Imo slightly longer wait times is a small sacrifice they would be willing to make.

Whether you like DQ or not, you are still playing in a single queue when you want to play ranked.

Actually, you might be wrong here. Lets assume that half the population hates DQ, that means with a SoloQ option, your wait times would double. If it normally takes 5 minutes to get a game, it would now take 10.

Extrasolar2 votes

True. And that's what a portion of the fanbase has a problem with. If you keep Dynamic queue and do not give an option for people who want to avoid premades in their games, you have a portion of your game population that is permanently dissatisfied (and there are plenty of good reasons why people do not want premades in their games when they are playing solo). If you get rid of Dynamic queue to appease them, you have another portion of your game population that is dissatisfied (people that hate solo queue, and want to climb with friends).

I've waited up until 8 minutes to get into a game a few times. 10 minutes may seem like a lot, but not when you've got another browser open, doing something in the background. But this one is a matter of opinion, some people can't stand waiting. To me, waiting a bit to get into game is the least of one's worries, since the games last half an hour to close to an hour anyway.

Sorry can I just correct you on this. It would split the playerbase and cause Dynamic Queue to have long wait times. Solo Queue is very easy to match for, you just need 10 players within an appropriate MMR range of each other and you have a relatively balanced game at default.

Solo Queue like systems can find relatively fair games quite quickly in a system where there's only several hundred players playing at any time. A Solo system in a game the size of League will never struggle with long wait times or poor matchmaking because its job is very, very simple, find players who are close to each other and match them.

Dynamic Queue's queue times will be worse. To me this seems like a fairer tradeoff for wanting to play with friends than exists currently though. The current tradeoff is that Solo players get shitty games made for them. Solo players are the ones getting punished for the existence of Dynamic Queue.

DQ tries to match players at the same MMR as well. It's not really that different from a SoloQ. The only difference is that it tries to match 3 man premades with other 3 man premades or 4 man premades with other 4 man premades. Given the abundance of premades on the queue at any given time, I would hesitate to suggest this as a possible cause of long wait times. The support role is actually why queuing takes so long. It would take just as long with a Solo queue.

Dynamic Queue only tries to match players at the same MMR as well at first. After the first few minutes, it begins to loosens its restrictions and begins to search for wider ranges, using players of different tiers in an attempt to create a fair game based on the difference between the MMR of 5 players on each team. At this point, matchmaking has already changed significantly from Solo Queue. At the five minute mark is when you usually have people who are two or more tiers (not division) of skill start to come in. Go long enough and they just throw everything out the window and go f*** it, here's a game. There was one time where someone said that when they queued up as a group of 5 man premade, they got thrown into an ARAM match.

Actually I always as a premade get matched against other premades, and judging by the fact that most of my friends are low silver, or mid bronze I am doing better solo.

Honestly though, Ranked 5s is where it is at. You don't need to worry about individual mmr or skill. If you lose, you know it is because your team did not do well enough as a team. You don't get distracted by all that "noise" about random strangers being too unskilled etc. I found that I have enjoyed more games in Ranked 5s than I do in solo queue nowadays. Could be because my mmr dropped down to ELO hell.

Blanchimont1 votes

Playing against or with one premade can be all it takes to ruin ranked for people forever. My favorite example this season is when the premade group on my own team (I'm assuming they're premade because they all shared a club tag and the likelihood of 3 people with the same club tag in the same game is low) banned the champions I highlighted in the new champion select because they wanted me to play something tanky.

I can attest that when i do get a flamer, a rager, a troll, a feeder etc. that having a friend or two with me helps me feel a lot better; they got my back dawgs, none of you strangers do.

Gusdel1 votes

I hate premades for a few reason.

  1. Most team mates in a premade blame me or another member out of the premade when the games isn't going there way. I have had people flame me when we win just because it wasn't how they wanted to win.
  2. One premade is normally better then the other. Why most of the time one premade is full of friends who play a lot together. The other is a pick up group when they win one game and team up to try and keep winning games.
  3. The communication in game suffers when there is a premade in the game. They use a outside form of chat and you have 1 to 2 players who have no idea what is going on.
  4. As a solo player i like meeting and talking to new people every game when premades get involved I talk to myself the whole game. Not very fun.

So if i get paired with a premade it destroys my experience in the game and forces me to play around them and I am left of the loop and if I dont know what is going on which leads to me getting flamed. Being a jungle main it get really frustrating for me. This season I have become more toxic and raged more then any other season and I am getting more toxic as the seasons goes on. I just play less and spent less on the game till this shit if fixed

blkKalameet1 votes

only reason I'm currently happy with being able to q up ranked with my friends is that we can finally get our friend that mains support out of bronze.

he just has such crap luck that we couldn't do anything duo, he's always paired up with the worst players in ranked. like a vi that would target the Naut over the Tallon jinx or riven, going as far as to leave the fight blowing everything on him off in the jungle.

one person can't carry a game when the jungle, and top layer have fed every Lane.
