Kayle W has 15s CD at max rank

KoKoboto··8 votes·1,653 views

All champions with a heal or shield have a 10s CD at max rank or less. At 45% cdr Kayle W has a CD of 8.25s, all others have 5.5s or less. So Kayle can't really spam her heals like other champions. This is one reason why I enjoy Kayle support more than other heal/shield type supports.

While that's true, you also have to consider that she isn't a dedicated healer. She has far more other things going for her in her kit. She has the capability of being a hypercarry because of how much damage she can potentially have. She wouldn't be remotely balanced if she could spam her heal.

Somebody like Soraka/Janna however, is dedicated towards healing/shielding. That's their thing. While I agree that they need their cds hit on their shields, they have lower cds because that is the job their dedicated too.

KoKoboto2 votes

Err. Why do I have to consider that? I'm just talking about why I like Kayle as a support in comparison to other heal / shield types xD

Chief Mayonnaise2 votes

Because compared to other supports, kayle boasts an ally invulnerability a armorshred/ mr. That's probably why she doesn't have a lower cd heal.

Looking back at the post, I probably misinterpreted the point of the post. Have a good day*[slayer-pantheon-thumbs]*

PePsiLemoNN2 votes

Oh the champ who can make some1 invulnerable for a few seconds has a shit heal. hm

KoKoboto4 votes

Her heal is actually one of the strongest in terms of basically abilities without considering scaling. Even than it's still pretty high up there, only bested by Taric.

Also teamfights usually end in a few seconds.

Serika Zero2 votes

because they nerfed the shit out of her every other ability during the years of this game being released. Even when Kayle was rarely picked, here's a random nerf for her. So, ofc, even a bad heal is the best she can offer.

KoKoboto1 votes

Her Q is underwhelming. Her passive is a passive so unless they changed the ability it should not be stronger. Her W and Ultimate are really powerful as a support.

Anyways I don't understand the point you're trying to make. If you're talking about playing Kayle conventionally than you don't play her for her heal, you play her because she does insane damage and is like a hyper carry.

If you're talking about playing her as a support, which is what this thread is about, than your argument makes no sense because she has one of the best heals in the game for a basic ability.

Serika Zero2 votes

her Q used to have 0.8 or 100% ap scalling. her E used to do double on hit damage than it does right now

that's the point i'm trying to make she was nerfed so hard over the years that the heal was the only thing they didn't gut to the ground and she still works with on hit damage builds due to her ultimate.

that's the point i'm trying to make. And no, she was never very popular or meta or broken OP like other picks (cinderhulk sejuani from s5 as an example). And no, I'm not a Kayle player, she got to destroyed for my tastes.

KoKoboto1 votes

Oh okay. I don't know why you're telling me though xD

Serika Zero2 votes

you said W is the only basic ability of her's that worth something. I've explained why :)

Glasletter2 votes

I don't know, I've run Kayle in every position and she seems to work for everything. The only issue is that she doesn't often bring much to the table beyond her ult as far as compared to other champions in the same role. That being said, as a support I find Kayle has some of the best peel/chasing abilities of any support, as her W speed scales with AP and her Q is a massive targeted slow. I can boost my carry to catch up and kill if they're low enough, or I can boost myself into slow range. She plays poorly in the very early game, but once you pick up mana regen(I get charms to fill my inventory first back; no other way to keep up with both healing and being aggressive) then she becomes one of my favorite mid to late game supports.

She allows people to be aggressive, allows you to save those who make bad choices, will hardly ever lose lane and straight up laughs at ganks with her massive peel potential.

There's a reason I don't main Kayle, but there's also a reason why I pick her when I'm not able to play my usual support picks.

KoKoboto1 votes

Totally. I'd argue she's actually pretty strong in the early game and can out harass many teams who don't expect it. Taking E level one basically gives you the same damage output as any AD early on. I run A/S reds in contrast to most supports that usually run magic penetration if they go offensive. I guarantee you that you WILL out trade your enemies early on.

I'd also argue that she can bring a lot to the team based on her build. She can make catches with permaslow E and provide healing comparable to Sona/Soraka easily. Or you can shred front line tanks and stuff. Mostly though she's an aggressive enchanter that empowers her teammates through aggression.

I disagree with her having strong peel, yes mid and late game your peel is really good but early on it's pretty lackluster. Especially if you don't have your ultimate up. Kayle makes up for this by having the ability to play very aggressive early game, she won't peel THAT well but she still deal considerable damage to anyone trying to gank.

I'll also add that she has the most versatile builds ever, like NO other support can compare in my opinion. 0/18/12 item 2045 item 3069 item 3222 item 3107 item 3174 item 2045 item 3069 item 3050 item 3109 item 3190

0/12/18 item 2303 item 3116 item 3504 item 3107 item 3222 item 2303 item 3116 item 3222 item 3091 item 3071

I could go on and on tbh.

The Deckowner1 votes

zekes and knight's vow are not really good on her.

KoKoboto1 votes

Zeke's Convergence is pretty shitty but I still like it just cause. It WOULD be more efficient to use different items but I like how it gives some extra armor and magic resist. So I'm mostly just buying for extra stats, Zeke's Convergence is also being buffed soon. I also get to use it basically off CD because her ult has a shorter CD than most.

If you're going 0/12/18 with Ardent, Rylais, Knight's Vow I disgaree. Going this build means you're healing your allies off auto attacks and they're healing you off auto attacks, + damage reduction is always great. Sure it's halved but 6% is still 6%. I say the healing makes up for it because most other Knight's Vow supports don't have the same level of healing. Not to mention the item gives a good amount of health which benefits going 0/12/18.

nerf kayle

KoKoboto1 votes

Kayle needs a Warwick level VGU, they should completely remove her right click to death game play and make her more of a fighter. However I do like the thought of her swinging her sword and instantly light crashes down on a location, that should kinda stay.

Other mechanics I would like her to keep for her VGU would be:

  • Armor / Magic resist shred
  • On-Spell Effects / On-Hit Effects
  • Heal / Movement Speed buff
  • Invulnerability

Lol so like 60% of her kit I guess. Makes sense though because her Q and E have extremely low amounts of game play.

People say Morgana and Kayle will probably get reworked together. In this case I think Morgana for the most part is fine, perhaps her ultimate and W could be changed to be more. Both need a visual update.

Kídá2 votes

Maybe her E can be adjusted but not removed. Her E and R are what makes her different and gives her a unique build. Im sure you could remove everything else except E and R and kayle would still feel like kayle.

KoKoboto1 votes

There's unique builds and than there's unique gameplay and Kayle doesn't really offer on unique game play. Buying items is important but not core to what makes a champion unique. I don't think any on-hit champion is unique really, especially when considering that Kayle was released at a time (the beginning of time lol) when Riot only understood on-hit champions.

Kayle MasterYi Teemo Warwick Tryndamere Udyr Rammus Taric Shyvana ... The list goes on. The last auto attack based champion they released (excluding marksmen) was Aatrox in 2013.

So I wouldn't say that Kayle's E defines her as champion. It's just an auto attack steroid that Riot used numerous times because that's all they knew at the time. It's pretty outdated to be honest and lacks game play. It's basically a passive at max rank because you just spam it off CD. The only difference between Kayle and these other champions is that she builds more AP.

Edit: https://boards.na.leagueoflegends.com/en/c/gameplay-balance/0xhJw2OA-some-opinions-for-when-kayle-is-reworked

[{quoted}](name=Mira Arya Enthe,realm=NA,application-id=3ErqAdtq,discussion-id=0xhJw2OA,comment-id=,timestamp=2017-08-05T23:01:50.956+0000) 3: The game play direction I would prefer with Kayle is a bit different than she is right now. I hate how her E doesn't even so much feel like an ability for her, and more feels like a limitation placed on her early game. This reminds me of Ashe's old slow, it doesn't feel like a rewarding button to press, it feels like a penalty that becomes less encumbering as the game goes on. I do understand why it exists for balance and fairness.

That said a rework is the ideal time to change a Champions core purpose to be more fun, more played, more fair, healthier, to have a good level of skill expression, healthy power scaling, and counter play. I think the biggest mistake that could be made with the Kayle rework, is to stick to the core gameplay of being a mage ADC who is just limited early game but becomes ridiculous if she's allowed to get a few Farm. Being utter trash early game, but if the meta or team composition or enemy team lets her get too late game, she loses all sense of counterplay and fairness. So I think the biggest thing that is unhealthy about Kayle is her E.

  • Passive should stay. Reasoning behind wanting to keep her ability to reduce resistances is because EXTREMELY few champions can actually do this and it'd be a shame if Kayle lost her ability to do so. Also I feel a holy sword of light would ignore most types of resists.
  • Q can change, it's just a point click slow that shows how outdated Kayle is.
  • W has a lot of game play around it so that's why I would keep that as well, Rakan and Taric are the only champions that can compare.
  • E needs to change.
  • R is unique enough and there's no other ability in the game like it except for Taric's ultimate. It'd be cool if they could update it to make it cooler somehow though.

Champions that have resist shred: Vi Corki Trundle Jayce JarvanIV XinZhao Nasus Kayle 8 out of 137. They should make it so it's not just something she gets for auto attacking though.

To address your point on "feels like Kayle". Well right now the only thing Kayle does is point click everything. Although her W and R have a lot of game play behind it, there's not a lot of mechanical game play going on at all, just game knowledge game play. Feels like Kayle is equivalent to feels like any other on-hit champion. When played as a carry she just stands still and auto attacks, that's really all she has going on and is why she needs a rework to that play style. Outdated.

I'm...not sure what the point of this thread is?

Is it a hate thread for low CDs on supports?

KoKoboto2 votes

Most supports spam heals and shields off CD without a care in the world and without much repercussion. Kayle played as a support has to be considerate of her heal for multiple reasons.

One being the CD, it's a powerful heal but it has a longer CD in comparison to other supports. This means you as a player have to distinguish between yourself and your teammates who would benefit from the heal.

Next the ability gives a pretty large amount of movement speed, 30% base for 3s that doesn't decay and scales +7% per 100 AP. Meaning the player much also distinguish whether or not the movement speed buff would be better over a heal. For these reasons the ability feels more difficult to use efficiently but rewarding when you do personally. This is why I like Kayle support over other heal/shield supports.

Edit: Thirdly you could just use the ability off CD to provide the movement speed buff, however because it is a heal all of the other potential of the ability is lost in comparison to shields which effectively give the target increased maximum health at times.

So in other words...give Kayle a lower CD on her heal, right? ;D

I like saving people with her ultimate. I also love the effect it gives off with Zeke's Convergence. ##Fa. Bu. LOUUUUUUUUUS.

Sir Fuzzi1 votes

This is fine. It gives move speed scaling pretty generously to her AP, so if she could keep it up at 2.5sec downtime as opposed to 5.5sec downtime, I think she'd be nerfed for it.

What Kayle lacks in support healing she more than makes up for in her damage. It'd be nice if they did that more often, but underpronounced support ability just means overpronounced self-sustain these days.

KoKoboto1 votes

Glad you agree c:

DeathBurst1 votes

Kayle isn't a good Support, because a LOT of her potential is in her damage, and she needs gold to unlock it. You can play her as a Support using her heal+ult+slow and cheap supportive items, and ignoring her damage, but it's generally not a good idea, or it's just a cheese strat you do with a premade.

KoKoboto1 votes

I've managed equal healing to Sona/Soraka with support builds so she is a good support.

I say there's two things that make a champion viable as a support.

  1. Actually being a support
  2. Not needing high gold income

The reason why I'm against things like Taliyah, Nunu, Lux, Ornn, etc supports is because often times they don't have the basic tools a support wants. They don't have reliable enough supportive abilities to help the team. Sure you can play all of them supportive but they require experience, stats, and gold to work out successfully.

The only peel mechanic Taliyah has is her W, all of her damage AND slows scale with AP meaning she needs to be building a lot of AP to work. When played as a support Taliyah doesn't get enough AP and her peel is too unreliable. She's just an extra target to gank. Sure she can bully early but later on she falls off because she doesn't have enough AP.

Nunu has a perma slow kinda on his E but that's about it. Slows alone aren't enough support for a team, especially if it's just a single target slow. Nunu does have a powerful steroid with his W so I would put him above Taliyah in terms of supporting. However at the end of the day I just don't think Nunu delivers enough peel for his team. He is only really strong against one target who has no dashes and doesn't rely on A/S. Finally, similar to Taliyah, he has no innate defensive mechanics meaning he's another easy target.

Lux support doesn't offer much as well. 2s snare on two enemies is good but she can't do much after that. Her only options is to really burst down the enemy because her E isn't that reliable as a slow unless maxed and often times doesn't lock down people hard enough in team fights. Her ultimate isn't supportive at all really. Her W is a very powerful because of the buffs but it's also really unreliable to land. You basically gotta line yourself up with your teammates while they're trying to kite and do their own things. Also god forbid you miss any of your abilities because than you're dead. A common trend with a lot of supports is that their heals/peel is very reliable as in point click.

I've been seeing people talk about Ornn support but it just doesn't offer much. I would compare it to playing Sejuani support. Both of them have strong CC but it's not reliable enough to really stop anyone early. You need experience in order to scale up your lock down potential and you need gold to be a tanky threat. Much like every other support they just become an easy target if they miss their stuff. Looking specifically at Ornn, his CC is strong but not as reliable. You need time to land a Q-E and you need time to land R-R. And the only thing he provides is this unreliable CC that you'll probably never land on the enemy unless they're playing melee range. I love having an Ornn on my team because Ornn items, but not as support please.

Kayle already meets the criteria necessary to be a strong support in my book. First up she already has two easy access supportive abilities in her ultimate and heal. The strength of her ultimate is already clearly visible, at max rank with 40% CDR the ability has a 48s CD. Her heal is point click, has the highest base value out of every healer/shielder (except Taric), and grants a great MS buff for 3s that DOESN'T decay. The MS buff is only matched by Lulu, Kayle's has better scaling though. These points alone make her a viable support in my book. The rest of her potential comes from the sheer versatility of her builds.

DeathBurst1 votes

Nunu is a decent Support. His playstyle is very atypical compared to other Supports, so direct comparisons don't work, but that's still a role he can fit. Peeling isn't the only task of a good support. And no, he doesn't need gold, and yes, he has some innate defenses. Check the wikia.

Lux is very average but with a strong snowball potential, just like all the other Burst Mages that occasionally see Support play (Veigar, Brand, Velkoz, ...). I'm not personally fan of the playstyle, but it works.

Kayle can be used as a Support, but you're wasting a lot of her potential. Kayle with gold has an insane DPS. Kayle support won't get enough gold for that. Yes it can work. But why bother? If you want a Support with a heal and slow, play a real Support like: Lulu, Nami, Soraka, Sona, they all have that and more. If you want to play Kayle, play her in a Solo lane, and you'll be twice as useful. It's like playing Warwick Top. It works, but it's wasted potential.

KoKoboto1 votes

We're talking about a champions ability to support which means direct comparisons are necessary. I did not say peeling was the only task. He has no innate defenses unless you eat monsters which, as a support, you shouldn't be doing really. Nunu does not have the same roam potential as Bard who gains large amounts of MS when he picks up chimes and has his portal. Leaving lane or going around eating all the jungle camps is not viable. He has no tank steroids, he has no shields, he only has slows/cripple. He can heal with his Q but if you're playing Nunu as a support you're better off maxing W or E first.

Support is enabling your teammates to do what they gotta do. Nunu can enable with his slows but they're not powerful enough to be a significant threat and they only slow one person. Nunu needs gold in order to tank up. We are in a meta where tanks buy supportive items but that still doesn't change the fact that Nunu has no tank steroids to work with and not enough CC or buffs to enable his team. Alistar, Leona, Braum, Taric, Tahm Kench, Braum, Thresh, etc, all provde more crowd control that has more lock down or have more tank steroids in their kits.

Any mage can be successful because damage kills stuff. With this argument I could justify playing every single champion that has damage in the support role. However unless you snowball hard you're at a disadvantage because you don't have enough gold to work out from a support position and need more gold in order to afford AP itemization. At the end of the day you're better off playing catchers who have more reliable ways to make picks and get your team snowballing who don't need the same amount of gold or experience.

Tahm Kench's ultimate is ALWAYS used efficiently when used to move across the map. Kayle's ultimate is similar in that it is ALWAYS used efficiently when you manage to save a life. This alone increases Kayle's viability as a support because 2-3s of invulnerability is huge and can completely shut down engages, heck it shuts down Lux support easily. When I play Kayle support I'm not going for damage itemization, I'm going for a supportive build to increase her strengths as a support. When I'm playing Blitzcrank support I'm not building damage either.

I've averaged averaged comparative or higher amounts of healing in comparison to champions like Nami, Soraka, Sona, so the argument about picking a "real support" goes out the window. Kayle's heal has the highest base value out of all supports, only bested by Taric. The potential damage you would do as Kayle support is instead converted to healing and damage denied, in that case the potential is met.

Nami: heal, slows, hard CC, ms buffs Sona, heal, shield, MS buff, hard CC, damage reduction, slows, extra damage Lulu: polymorph, shield, A/S buff, heal, knock back, slow, MS buff Soraka: heal, slows, silence, root Kayle: heal, MS buff, invulnerability, slows, resist shred, "extra damage"

Kayle matches others in utility.

DeathBurst1 votes

Any mage can be successful because damage kills stuff. With this argument I could justify playing every single champion that has damage in the support role.

Not any champ with damage, any champ with Burst. DPS doesn't let you snowball like Burst do. And yes, you can. It's very average, as I said myself, it's not good, but it can work. Just the same way Kayle can work, but that doesn't make her a good Support.

When I play Kayle support I'm not going for damage itemization, I'm going for a supportive build to increase her strengths as a support.

Well, of course. You don't have the gold for a damage build. Which is kind of my point. Kayle needs that gold to unlock her full potential, you're wasting half of it if you play her in a gold starved position. A lot

I've averaged averaged comparative or higher amounts of healing in comparison to champions like Nami, Soraka, Sona, so the argument about picking a "real support" goes out the window.

Half the output of Support champs, if not more, is not visible in Stats. You average as much heal as Sona? Tough luck, you're not counting all her 5-man AoE shields. You've got one single person slow and one single person speed buff. She has the same single person slow, but her speed buff is a 5-man AoE. You have a one-person invulnerability, she has an AoE hard CC. The only advantage of Kayle compared to Sona is her damage... which is not really a factor with a Support build. So, cool, Stats said you healed as much. You're still not a real Support. I can make the same comparison with any of the other typical enchantresses, it will work out the same.

And this direct comparison works in that case because Kayle plays like all the other Enchantresses, if you play her Support. But it doesn't work for Nunu, the same way you can't compare Braum to Sona. Nunu is twice as tanky, easily, than any Enchanter, and people should not focus you as an "easy target". If they do, you already did your job, congratz. Nunu can't peel an Assassin diving on your carries, but his zone control and his chase potential is awesome. His tankyness is pretty OK for a gold starved support, and you should never miss a Dragon or Baron with a Nunu in your team. It's not a great support, but it's totally a decent one AND it's not wasting half his potential away!

Let's put it another way: you made this OP trying to claim that Kayle is a good Support. I answered that she isn't. Then, for some reason, you compared her to Lux and Nunu (which are by no way meta supports), claiming that she was at least better than them. No she isn't. I'm not saying that Lux or Nunu are great Supports, but presenting them as examples of Support champs that do worse than Kayle, it doesn't work. They do just as good as Kayle, and they're still not meta.

KoKoboto1 votes

Now here's where comparisons can't be made. There are many different win conditions for different champions and many different types of enchanters. All of which have different win conditions / success cases / value. So yeah you can make the comparison with every other enchanter and it will be true because all enchanters are different and provide different things. If they didn't than it would just be an arms race, "which champion is the best". I can't say that Thresh is a better support than Soraka because they both have different jobs. The only reason I mentioned Kayle's healing potential and how it is equal to the likes of Soraka, Sona, Nami, is because I assumed you thought she couldn't heal as much. Comparing heals is fine though, comparing the entire champion is not because they got different strengths.

Sona will never:

  • Provide the same amount of CC as Nami
  • Provide the same amount of peeling as Lulu
  • Provide the same amount of engage as Rakan
  • Provide the same amount of zone control as Ivern
  • Provide the same amount of invulnerability as Kayle
  • Provide the same amount of disengage as Janna
  • Provide the same amount of healing as Soraka
  • Provide the same amount of catch potential as Blitzcrank

However Sona is viable as a support because she has other strengths. Some strengths like damage reduction, synergizing the most with death ball compositions, and her ability to protect her whole team albeit less than single target protection other supports have. Making these kinds of comparisons are pointless. Once again, I only brought up Kayle's healing to show that she does in fact have good heals and because I assumed you thought she didn't. I also listed her stuff in comparison to others and showed that she does in fact have utility worthy of being a support. I didn't bother to address the aspects of her kit because those are unique to her and Kayle has her own unique stuff.

The comparison I made is justified because I am comparing the champions ability to enable their team to do whatever. Alistar, Nami, Kayle, Thresh, Rakan, all have ways to enable their team through heals, shields, engage, CC, and can work off of low income and experience because of the nature of their kits. Lux, Ornn, Nunu, Taliyah, are all unreliable and require gold and experience to be successful which is not the norm for supports, they also do a poor job of enabling their teams. The comparison you made is not legitimate because you're comparing things that Kayle doesn't even have, Kayle has her own strengths, Sona has hers.

I also put the things Kayle has in comparison to other enchanter types:

  • Nami: heal, slows, hard CC, ms buffs
  • Sona, heal, shield, MS buff, hard CC, damage reduction, slows, extra damage
  • Lulu: polymorph, shield, A/S buff, heal, knock back, slow, MS buff
  • Soraka: heal, slows, silence, root
  • Kayle: heal, MS buff, invulnerability, slows, resist shred, "extra damage"

So yeah. Probably can't get stats on how much resists shredded per game and how much that increased damage. Can't get stats on how much damage negated by invulnerability. Can't get stats on how much MS was given to teammates either.

I build Kayle with Rylai's usually (she has diverse builds) which means I got a permanent 20% slow in an AoE which is great. Kayle doesn't work like all other enchantresses because she needs to build value from auto attacking to apply her passive and gain value from her builds. Her heals matches other heal type champions so she's viable in this department. What separates her is that she has access to permanent slow, armor shred and invulnerability, and she does a good job at all of these. Kayle as a support means that she doesn't just ultimate herself (which is what usually happens) and instead enables her teammate to make more risque plays that they couldn't have before without invulnerability. That assassin, diver, marksmen, or whatever can now go further than before because they're not taking damage. Also invulnerability means you basically win all life steal trades because unless you heal on-hit you're not life stealing from an invulnerable target, denies all types of bursts / executes.

Nunu's potential comes from his ability to shut down the enemy jungler, lock them out of experience and making early plays. So you're wasting that potential as a support because you're only playing with 2 abilities now. Heck you don't even use your passive now because you shouldn't be auto attacking that much as a support, unless you're constantly pushing the wave for whatever reason and prepared to get ganked with the minimal CC you provide. So you're wasting like 40% of his kit really, even more than that because of the passives and stats he gains on his Q.

Once again Nunu has no tank steroids in his kit or hard CC to lock down people (a standard for tankier supports), so he is only tankier than other enchanters if he builds tankier. You're not doing your job if you die easily. Alistar, Braum, Leona, Taric, all do their job because they have innate tank steroids in their kits that allows them to soak up damage and survive. Nunu unless ahead is squishy because of his support income tank build and will be easy to walk over. It's like if you die as any other support that's not tanky, you're not doing much and the enemy team will just continue to run your team down. So that Soraka that got caught out, her death doesn't mean that much because it didn't require that many resources, neither does killing a Nunu that doesn't have gold income.

If you're picking Nunu for chase down than it's comparable to almost all other supports because all other supports either have slows + MS buffs or hard CC. Nunu does have strong zone control with his ultimate but it gets easily shut down by CC and, once again, if you haven't invested in tank stats you're not gonna be surviving long if you get caught. Losing objectives like baron or dragon are very much a possibility because you're maxing Q last (hopefully as a support), so unless you're really coordinated with your jungler there is a chance of losing an objective. Also 300 true damage is pretty lackluster as the game progresses against objectives that have thousands of health (damage dealers will deal more with AAs / spells).

You are only seeing Kayle's damage potential because of her item builds. However if that is the case than I'm not losing potential at all. Kayle has 60 (+30%AP) on-hit and it also splashes to enemies. Well she also has a 240(+45%AP) heal w/ 30%(+7% / 100AP) MS buff as well. So I see no problem with choosing to build around this ability over her E. Sure damage potential is lost but you trade that for supportive potential while still using all of your kit. PQWER, are all still used when you play her support in comparison to Nunu who for most of the game only uses W/E. Kayle as a support doesn't need that much gold, doesn't need that much experience, and enables her team in a way no other support can. So no potential is lost.

Gragas can play tank or he can go AP because of his ratios, he is not throwing out half of his kits potential by choosing either build. Or you could look at Trundle, you can go for the fighter juggernaut build and take advantage of his Q and W or play him support and work around his E a lot more as shown in LCS. Look at Vi where most people go for a Tri-Force/E centric build when she scales best with AD (her W and Q), it's not a straight up loss of potential, it's potential moved else where in a kit. So changing the item build doesn't ruin the potential of certain champions. Kayle included because she can benefit and gain value from W and playing supportive to enable her team.

I compared Kayle to off-meta supports like Taliyah, Nunu, etc, because I wanted to show the distinction in their ways to "support" in comparison to Kayle's and how they don't work whereas Kayle does although she's not meta. Those champions don't really support or have the abilities to effectively support whereas Kayle does. Kayle, Thresh, Braum, Sona, all have ways to enable their teams without gold or experience. Nunu, Taliyah, Ornn, Lux need gold and experience while also being pretty unreliable. I'd like to point out that the only off-support champion you went deeper into was Nunu, saying he is tankier, and has more zone control / chase potential, I addressed all these points and showed why he doesn't and how he is just inefficient as a support.

The main point of my post is "This is one reason why I enjoy Kayle support more than other heal/shield type supports." so this whole discussion is a huge tangent lol.

Back when I played Kayle top a tiny bit for freelo I quickly realized how much her Q was essentially a waste of mana unless the slow cements the trade. From that I started maxing heal W second and basically realized at that point it's a free win against low dmg types or melee in general. The movespeed is superior too. It's A LOT like Teemo actually. On dps oriented Teemo the W mobility spell is usually superior over Q.

If Kayle barely uses Q except when it gets real most of her mana bar can go into healing her. At that point she auto wins lane versus tanks. And at that point her champ design seems even more terribly unhealthy because you're playing this simple champion like she hardly even has Q; has a heal + speed, turns on auto, and goes invulnerable. She is fun [to play] late game though

I'm talking about Kayle played as a support and well mana isn't an issue for anyone that goes a support build.

All champions with a heal or shield have a 10s CD at max rank or less.

Cue for Master Yi's flat 35 second CD on his channeled heal.

But I suppose you mean the heals that can also go onto other people/teammates.

Ayyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyy memes.

I didn't mention Bard or Nidalee either because they're not known for their healing really.
