It'd be one thing if Aatrox was just released weak. This rework doesn't seem to even be thought out
So after 24 hours and a post by meddler saying Aatrox is doing significantly worse than expected, I think we can agree the new Aatrox released was pretty bad. While I applaud innovation this one...pretty much missed the broad side of a barn.
Aatrox was reworked to help behind Aatrox. His passive was reworked to provide more windows of opportunity. "Fight when white, red and dead" like other champions such as vlad or gnar or Darius. Also good
The above principle require the passive to actually be manageable. Right now, it's not. Five abilities to stack it and it falls off in four seconds? That's insane. Let's look at both champions, Gnar and Darius in comparison.
"But Darius also requires five abilities and he's fine!" You're right he is fine. But there's key differences
Darius can use all of his abilities to stack. Aatrox cannot. Aatrox has an escape which everyone should keep off cooldown unless they're all inning. Darius does the opposite. He drags targets to him so doesn't have to worry about using it as an escape. While it doesn't apply a stack, his W has an auto attack reset and every auto does apply a stack, making up for it. He can just stack a lot faster. Because he can stack fast, it drains fast.
Now there's gnar. Gnar doesn't stack his rage fast but it doesn't drain fast either. He might be able lose a bit of rage as the wave travels to him but not enough to be noticeable. Meanwhile Aatrox, where if you actively push a wave even ahead of your own wave, will STILL lose his passive at a much faster rate.
The passive ability on Aatrox just does not seem to be thought out at all. It takes an entire wave to stack like Gnar but drains as fast as Darius stacking? There's no windows of management which riot loves because Aatrox players can't reliable open the window in the first place.
