Sona

I'm wondering what people's thoughts on Sona are. I've played with more than one now that have quite easily gotten to healing 700+ health every ~2 seconds for nearly no mana, and that was half build. One was healing over 1k every heal with a ~2 second cooldown and could easily heal a hundred times with the mana she had. As well, she could reach 600 - 700 speed easily, and hit well over 800 with her damage.

These Sona's were really good and had 15+ assists, they were experienced players, but still I don't see what the counterplay is to healing 1k, and shielding for 200 - 400 easily when there's no mana cost.

What are people's thoughts? What could be done to nerf her a little, or am I completely off and she's not broken at all? Just seems like Sona shouldn't be healing more than Soraka, with no health cost, and lower cooldown.

I don't think Sona takes much in the way of skill to play, and I think she scales off AP a little too hard. But I'm quite salty from some crazy stupid Sona's lately so I might be totally biased here.

I'd love to know what people think about Sona, and how/if she should be nerfed, or how you'd recommend playing against a Sona.

That is a major exaggeration, with both item 3222 and item 3504 it's only a 30% increase to healing, before the recent changes where her heal was actually reduced she couldn't even heal for anywhere near 1000 built full AP.

I main Sona myself, and I think she's in a decent position right now. She's better than she was before, but still not the best, especially after the upcoming nerfs. She gets caught rather easily in lane, and if you overextend or get camped by the enemy jungler, there aren't many ways to escape. Supports with heavy cc can kill her pretty quickly with the help of a decent adc.

What is there to say? It took Rito 2 years to do what players have been demanding of them since patch 4.13 made Sona unplayable and then they claimed the ideas were their own. Even so, she's still matter-of-factly weaker than she was pre-4.13 and the fact she's FINALLY playable again, doesn't excuse Rito removing her from the game for 2 full years and verbally harassing any and all customers that pointed out this FACT.

The sad truth is that the positive bumps to Sona made something which the game did not have before - an actually decent support champion which could make a difference and could contribute to a team's gameplay.

Yes, she was better than the other supports (which let's face it, were and still are 5th wheels in the game. You see, simply, we cannot have a champion that a support player can use which is actually useful. Rather than bring the other supports up to her level, we are now in the situation where we have entered Sona's days of the long nerfbats.

I don't know about those numbers, but Sona is one of the most laughably OP champs in the game. I only played her one time myself, but it was like playing the game in "easy mode". And it's common to see Sona do massive heals and shields for her team while also getting more kills and assists than anyone else; pretty much dominating a match, which support isn't supposed to be able to do (and really no champ should be able to dominate a match to that degree where they are providing most attack, defense, and utility for their team all at the same time).

The weirdest thing about Sona is she is not squishy. Even if you get through to her while she is shielding and healing her whole team and running away super fast as a group whenever she wants ---> even then, she is still pretty hard to kill compared to many other champs such as Soraka, Nami, Janna, Karma, Ashe, Lux, Sivir, etc., etc., etc. She has huge survivability even when blitzed by ADCs.

Unfortunately, someone high up in Riot management seems to have a special love for her, they keep trying to buff her to make her EVEN more op, instead of trying to balance the game properly. Remember only two patches ago they buffed her so hard it broke the game and they had to revert the buff mid patch, lol. I don't know why they let employees play favorites with the champs, but it is pretty sad in a competitive, balance game like this is supposed to be.

Bear in mind, DJ Sona is probably one of Riot's best moneymakers in terms of in-game stuff that they sell....
