Is it just me or is Darius overbearingly strong?

Darius has the HIGHEST PICK RATE top lane by far AND the HIGHEST BAN RATE in top lane by far. He cannot be 1v1ed by a vast majority of top laners unless the Darius seriously misplays. What angers me is that he INVALIDATES bruisers/Juggernauts/tanks with low mobility because of his 2 slows and stun which make it very hard to escape him and turn simple trades into extended fights where he will very likely kill you. If he's taking Conqueror or Phase rush you're fucked.

The reason people are so quick to defend him is that if you aren't banning Darius you're likely abusing him for elo and wouldn't want your crutch to get nerfed.

He's fine. Just meta favors him. I remember him being melted in seconds when adc class was powerful enough.

Yeah but he straight up invalidates you unless you're a good Renekton, God tier Riven, Gnar or Quinn.

he is invalidated by the fact that ranged champions, especially the ones with mobility, completely shit on him. champions that are strong in lane but crap in teamfights are not really good champs.

"Just pick ranged into him" further proves that he invalidates a whole class of champions. He cna just go second wind + shield + spectres cowl and heal from teemo and kill teemo in one rotation. Quinn and Gnar I can understand beating him though. But its not like he can't just roam and kill some other melee on your team

"Be careful around him" You mean get forced under tower and stay very far back as he zones the wave and denies you cs and exp since every "trade" you attempt will let him draw the trade out with his W and E letting him solokill you

Don’t chase Singed
There’s a Garen in that bush
If you start a fight with a Darius, be prepared to finish it.

Alternatively for number 3: don’t fight the Darius. Either get in and out quickly before he can proc his passive, or don’t fight him at all.

The problem is that fighting a Darius isn't that simple. You can't trade with him because he has two (2) abilities that force you not to escape unless you're extremely mobile like Riven

Why are you guys just downvoting this comment and upvoting the Moderators comment? I thought I brought up some good points on how its very difficult to even trade with a Darius.

As an L7 Darius player, perhaps I can shed some light on the subject.

Yes, Darius has a strong early game. He is intended to, as are many of his compatriots in the Juggernaut Sub-class. The way to beat him to pick characters that can dart around him, run circles around him. People that can get in, do damage, and get out quickly before Darius can really retaliate all that well.

Examples: Riven , Tryndamere and many more.

Others that can beat him are ranged top-laners, such as: Quinn , Gnar and of course, the one and only Teemo . These champs can give Darius (and really any other immoblie melee champ) a severe thrashing, as they can use their range to kite him all day long.

By denying him the ability to snowball via his strong early-game, you GREATLY reduce the threat a Darius can pose. Now that doesn't mean you can get cocky, because any Darius player worth their salt CAN turn things around if given the chance.

Hes broken right now because riot deleted most adcs and conventional supports from the game (replaced by duo mage bot lane).

Bring them back and darius will be fine again.

Darius isn't even strong ATM lol. He gets crapped on by almost all hyper scaling melees who take conquerors such as Jax, fiora, yi, or tryn, even early in lane. He's trash at splitting. O chase potential without deadmans, 0 dashes, conditional heal, tanky stats that are useless in this meta, and for all that, he's still useless in team fights when he procs ult because he can hardly get to anyone before it goes down, or he straight up dies. Mobile hyper scaling champs that abuse conquerors or essence reaver are the real broken POS, not Darius lmao.
