Why aren't we nerfing leona again?

She is the only support that actively goes to your adc. Thresh, braum (not aa, just q), blitzcrank and even morg doesn't go up to the adc nor dives like she does. Right now I feel she is pick or ban. Use any support against her, even morg and annie and you will get destroyed. Late game one dive since she is a mega tank you won't kill her unless you focus her ends the teamfight.... She has no weakness. If you say sona, one all in and you are finished. Even with a sona ult. Squishies can't handle her even with their poke, she outtanks and outperforms other tanky supports, what counters her? Nothing. I know this is a cycle of nerfs but...... she's tearing up bot lane right now imo.

Honestly?

Leona has one big weakness, she has a great all-in. That means she will all-in. Thus if your jungler is nearby, that's a double for your team. If she is put behind, she will try to all-in and die. Yes, she IS a menace when she's ahead, but if not, she's kinda screwed. As for counters, morgana works wonders, so does a well played thresh. Janna can also work. I tend to play karma against her (since she's the only support I'm good at), and all you have to do is poke her down to half HP before she engages.

As for late game? Dive HER carry. She's piss poor at peeling.

I do agree that her all ins are WAY too strong but picking janna into her completely ruins her day

like sona (im addressing janna), one all in and you are screwed. Janna only prevents engage in most cases so you are hoping for a peaceful farm lane and not getting an advantage either. It's only delaying the problem as your ult is also longer cd than leona engage. She is also tankier to create more of an upfront threat for her other teammates.

You don't need to ult to prevent Leona engage. Stay nearish your carry (not near enough for a double E from Leona). As soon as Leona throws the sword, tornado her. The delay on the sword is long enough that if you practice the tornadoes, you can prevent her from getting in 100% of the time. Then, give your carry the shield and go to town on hers. You'll outtrade them so hard that they won't be able to farm. Janna also does more than prevent engage. You can also just bully with shield autos at early levels, and you can help your carry outtrade theirs while preventing her from interfering.

Good Janna players are usually considered to be one of the strongest Leona counters. You can screw her really hard in and out of lane.

Alistar begs to differ. Heck, his is even targeted instead of requiring a telegraphed skillshot landing.

Nautilus, Maokai, and Lissandra have also seem play as supports and go to the ADC as well.

Anyways, Leona has no sustain or ranged poke. If you have her or her ADC low enough on health that engaging is risky, there isn't very much she can safely do.

Morgana spellshield can prevent Leona from damaging or CCing the ADC (Leona was specifically one of champions Morgana support was introduced to counter).

Janna, Alistar, and Thresh can peel Leona off their carry if she dives pretty easily.

Leona's final position upon initiating is known, so Nami's Q and Janna's Q can easily prevent Leona from following up.

Lulu can easily polymorph Leona and protect her ADC from damage or follow up.

If anything they should nerf Janna. She provides WAY too much utility to her team compared to other supports. Even Nami doesn't provide as much utility as her. But like Lee Sin, Janna is one of Riot chosen champs who will never be touched.

Lee took a number of blows last season. Janna it seems also got tapped by the nerf bat once or twice, nothing major.

Really? General consensus around here about 4 months ago was that she was utter trash, brought nothing to a team, and needed significant buffs. I actually got double digit downvotes for saying she didn't need buffs. Funny how times change.

THIS. When the enemy is ahead, you will die every time you get back to lane unless you stand under tower. No other support guarantees this like Leona does. (Maybe Annie, but hey, she's a squish)

sigh Play Leona, you'll find out who counters her. Annie Fiddlesticks Janna Lulu Lux Morgana Nami Sona Thresh Braum Zilean Zyra

Now, let me make a point here so people don't try to auto-reject what I say. With enough skill, ANY counter can be overcome. Braum is said to be a hard counter to Leona. Same with Thresh, I've outdone both in lane.

That said.

With the champs listed, Leona is going to have a MUCH harder time in lane. High poke means she will struggle to have the health to all in when she hits lvl 3. Strong disengage means you burn her cooldowns and can send her crying and abuse her while her abilities are down. Strong counter-engage means when she jumps, you jump back and hit harder.

Leona is a counterable champion and therefore not out of control. If you're pissed off some sup engaged your ADC, wait till you see Fiddlesticks ult in your lane.
