Rune Imbalance - A Close Look at Rune Stats and Comparison

I think with a quick look at the stats, it's easy to see how imbalanced they are. Some are far too weak no matter what champ they're used for - Some are soso, and very few are good. It took me less than an hour to make this analysis... has anyone at Riot ever done an analysis like this to compare runes?.. Because based on what i'm seeing with the numbers I seriously doubt it.

Oh and Riot please clean up the Rune purchase page.. it is a horrible mess and none of them are in order, which made making this a lot more difficult - AP runes are not next to each other, HP, etc.

If you're going to reply, be constructive and comment on the actual stats I have given for analysis, and not based on other things that are irrelevant to this discussion. If i made any errors with math or stat number, let me know and I'll correct ASAP. Thanks.

You should seriously compare it to in game gold value instead of scaling stats that you picked off 1 champion. And also some runes will be stronger than raw gold values simply because the stat isn't available enough in the load of item that we have.

There are multiple runes that are WAY stronger that what you actually identified.

I'm pretty sure each class of runes is supposed to specialize in certain stats, and taking extra AP in seals/marks grants more AP, but is risking other important sustain/laning stats.

You're missing AD flat runes for marks, and how can you say crit damage is decent for marks when most champs does literally nothing at lvl1 for all but a few champs until you get item 3031 you give up massive amount for this calling them strong is absurd. You'll lose every early game trade and struggle to last hit.

And you say 8% crit is good but laugh at flat pen, do you not understand how strong penetration is as a stat especially on champs with high base damages? Especially since they scale off item 3071 item 3035 item 3135 since flat is applied AFTER % pen.

I think you did seals twice.

You should send this graph to every pro, as they're doing it wrong. For example I didn't see a single one featuring attack speed seals (marked as strong), instead they are using armor and health ones (marked as average-weak).

What a bunch of casuals.

The problem with this is that all the list is based in your opinion about what stats are helpful, let alone the fact that you didn't bother to check on the stats' gold efficiency, all I'm seeing in that excel is a list with the runes lined up and your opinion about which are helpful or things like "enough said", no, it isn't enough to just say that. You say that the "strong-weak" tag isn't important, but then, why put it there? also, there are things you aren't seeing by just seeing the numbers.

For example, let's go back to the seals. You say that the flat armors are a tiny help at early levels, but then "it's nothing", and according to your list I should instead put the attack speed ones, as they are the only ones marked as "good", have fun being pummeled by the enemy adc and support's autoattacks, that 7%~ attack speed won't do anything if you can't even trade with the enemy laner without getting destroyed, and so on.

In short, it's more complicated than what you make it seem.

Well, I won't argue that point, for example, I've never seen someone bring energy/lvl runes or something. I SUPPOSE it could work but..eh.

I'll concede that part, there are some that are flat out inferior, I just don't agree with some of your examples.
