Bot Players and Bot Sitters

I've noticed an increase in the number of bots in my games lately, and it's pretty easy to identify 9/10 times a bot vs a noob player, but the bot player vs noob discussion is for another thread. After I see a lot of suspicious activity, I will test them by asking them something and they won't respond, but instead some other random player (duo?) will come to their defense and make it seem like they are just new, but I am starting to suspect these are actually 'bot sitters', who duo queue with these leveling bots to make people less likely to suspect it's actually a bot leveling their account.

This may seem very paranoid, but I'm starting to see it more and more. One player will do nothing but auto attack (rarely use spells if at all), and then get ghost heal and use heal at full health, use ghost at random times, etc, and usually similar builds, and often they will turret dive and not even try to run away, then once I call them out 'are you a bot?' their duo friend will respond for them and pretend like they're just new, but I don't always believe it.

If this 'bot sitter' is truly a thing, it's probably in response to a large amount of bots being banned lately, and now they have to take further measure to prevent them from being banned. Riot probably assumes if a player is duoing with another that one is just new, not a bot.

Personally I wouldn't doubt it, bots have been a plague in every multiplayer game since the invention of bots. Best thing you could do is keep a VERY close eye on them and compare their actions to available resources to help define if they are or are not bots. If they are, then report them. If not, go about your day and have fun.

Think about what you're saying here. If they're playing anyway, wouldn't they just manually level the account instead of botting it? I've introduced a handful of people to LoL over the years and the behavior you described matches what i've seen completely new players do. They tend to use the same recommended build, not be very good at using their skills without me saying "press W!" constantly, and also walk into turrets without realizing they're being hit. They're also scared of the mean people insulting them and saying they don't know how to play. Try giving them helpful advice and see if they respond to that.
