2017: The Year of Reworks

So far, in terms of new champions for 2017, we've had the much needed Warwick rework and have now caught wind of the impending Galio rework, as per the monolithic teaser. Considering we've reached March, and have had no 'new' champions per se, I feel that Riot have finally reached an age where they have realized it may be unrealistic to release 6 new champions per year. Rioters have previously said that they foresee an eventual curtailing of new champion releases, due to the need to give each champion unique lore, kit, appearance, silhouette, and so on.
While I admit that I am a total sucker for the hype and excitement that comes with new champion releases, it does make sense that Riot are focussing on enhancing the integrity of the current champion roster before moving forward to create new champions. I can't wait to see Urgot making more of an appearance, personally. Warwick 'counted' as the first new champion of the year, considering the timing & the teaser cinematic. Then we got Galio, Urgot and Evelynn. That leaves two spaces for new champions this year, if my theory holds true.

Riot directly told us that they needed art assets for the mini-reworks (Shyvana, Alistar, Rek-Sai, Aatrox, Jax clarity, adding recalls to old champs, etc.) and that was why there was a break before the next new champ. There's still supposed to be six new champs this year, and the gap between the next one and the one after is supposed to be relatively short.
