Where is Trundle right now?

I don't really watch the LCS, so I'm not kept up to speed with what's "OP" and what isn't. I've gotten Trundle in ARAMS lately and he's become an instant favorite. Usually when I try a new champ in normals I get the crap beat outta me, but not with this guy.

Trundle's everything I crave for in a champion:

Great visuals and sound design. Love the sound of crunching ice. Satisfying abilities and auto attacks (Trundle MUNCH BAMBAMBAMBAMBAMBAMBAMFUCKYOUFUCKYOUFUCKYOUFUCKYOUFUCKYOUTrundle )

And oh my goodness, the sustain. I've played a lot of Vlad and Cho way back when, so this guy's right up my alley.

But I don't want to fall in love just yet. I need one more qualifying factor: safety. Do people think he's weak, or strong? Is he played often? Is he facing an inevitable nerf, or a buff?

He's not played often. Trundle's strength is based upon his environment; it's something that makes his balance so great.

Upon tracking the wild Trundle in his habit, we discover through our observations that when the population of it's primary food source, the tank swells on the rift, the Trundle comes out of hibernation and hunts well, prospering in such times of richness.

This champion is very underrated.. especially given the tank meta.

Honestly I don't get why he isn't more popular in this meta.
