@Meddler Katarina update question(AD vs AP Kat)

I remember one of the big things about Katarina was that the playstyle between AD and AP katarina was largely the same and thus AD Kat was plain unviable from a numbers perspective. "AD Katarina plays no differently from AP Katarina. One's just mathematically going to be stronger. Assuming she gets chosen for an update is it a possibility that this problem could be addressed ?

She's probably going to straight up scale on AP, losing her AD ratios altogether. It never made sense that she had them anyway.

except you know -shes a Melee fighter -She fights using bladed weapons and knives as opposed to magic -her scaling with AP as opposed to AD is a betrayal of visual design themeatics which is one of the thing Riot hates

You are absolutely right ! Knives and blades and melee attacks screams physical damage. It's just the way it is, you inflict damage upon your opponent with the use of physical force, and not any magical spells or technology or lasers or anything like that. #make katarina AD

while she does attack with knives, they aren't exactly just weapons... these knives move on their own and mark enemies but more importantly, they are infinite. There's no way for a non magically charged weapon to bounce from target to target, also, hitting every single knife while rapidly spinning has to also be a feat of magic.

Of course we see this behavior on other champions like Sivir who has infinite blades coming from that ring thing and draven who looses his axes and they magically appear back in his hand, yet they are ranged and their weapon seems to scale with brute force rather than magical accuracy.

All of the things you mentioned apply to Ekko and he's still AP. They said quite clearly when they released Ekko that AD assassins are next to impossible to balance because of the 100% AD ratio on auto attacks.

Wouldn't be surprised if Shaco, Akali and Kat all become pure AP in the update.

But Echo uses Techonology and hextech so it makes a bit more sense.

Also Ekko is ALOT more flexible than Kat when it comes to build paths because of how much stuff in his kit (the most emerging build is Triforce into Tank Ekko I think).
