Why is this a thing Riot? I was being nice. My top laner got jungle and he said "I've never jungled before" so I took it. Why should someone be punished for that? You guys must know that the autofill system just makes people angry and angry people tend to troll if they don't do well.

I just don't get it. If you're better at a role then someone who's first getting it or gets autofilled why shouldn't you be allowed to trade for it? Why must the system be so bloody rigid that you can only play what roles your assigned and are punished if you don't.

Because you have been matched with that Role in mind.

If you are a silver 1 jungler and a gold 1 mid laner but get auto filled into jungler then take mid there is an unfair skill level in the match.

The only way you get "punished" for this is if you do it a stupid amount of times. So either you aren't telling the whole story or it's a bug/mistake and you should be contacting support to get it sorted out instead of posting it here where it'll do no good whatsoever

You're not being punished for being nice, that is a notice on Positional Matchmaking , a system that was introduced to reduce the impact of playing off-role which is something players asked for. That is a reminder of how it works, that there is a system to prevent people from attempting to exploit matchmaking. And speaking of exploiting, your top laner was_ lying to you_.

Yeah now that I think about it it's a bit more understandable. I guess now you're in like five different ELO's at once so you could be better. I wasn't punished, I do kind of wish there was a way to just switch back to the old ranking system. This happens a fair bit where someone's like "I've never done this!/I don't want to play this role!"

Maybe there is, I haven't seen one.
