What are we supposed to do when this happens?

So I was gonna be mid last game and I was going to be veigar but then someone on the opposing team picked him and all 10 bans had the following among them

Ahri Syndra Fizz Akali Talon (which were the rest of the mid lane picks I own)

my team wanted me to be Zed when I don't own him and they threatened to report if I dodge/pick off meta, what the hell was I supposed to do if I had nothing left?

tell your to to suck it... pick what you want to play ( without begin a troll ) try your best to win

you could legit go Maokai into viegar mid and be fine. your W can gap close on him... dodge his abilities , be tanky enough to sustain his burst play as an ap bruiser vs a mage match up style item 3111 item 3027 item 3151 and whatever other items you feel you need against the enemy and proceed to give him hell

Pick off-meta.

You've seen what happened to the Nunu and SInged, why would I risk it?

Play what you want and mute your team if they don't like it. The guys you're talking about (Riot claims) were reported TONS of times before they were banned for it. Riot isn't going to ban you for playing an odd pick one game, as long as you're doing your best to win.

we're talking about reports that are verified by a computer, not a human

Riot has claimed repeatedly (during the buzz from the banning of those two cases) that they don't punish people for not following the meta. They're certainly not going to do it for not playing a meta pick ONE time. If they did, my friend who mains Evelynn support would have been banned months ago.

I believe I heard that after the computer has enough data on a player to potentially punish them, a human then looks at it at the last stage to verify whether the punishment is valid or should be dismissed.

  • Offer to trade roles saying that all your practice champions are banned or picked
  • Dodge the game, it's only a few LP
  • Pick a relatively safe and simply mid laner who you own, like Annie, even if you don't play them. Then play passive and try to be as helpful as possible without knowing the champion.

  • I tried that, they declined since it was gonna be Veigar mid as my opponent
  • I chose to do that
  • Against Veigar......relatively safe is a myth.

If you dodge, they can't report you.

Also, going off meta isn't something Riot is going to punish you for if you're actually trying to win.
