It Doesnt Matter What I Do, I Give Up (Top Lane)

I have been having games over and over in Silver 3 where ill go like 20/3/11, and we still lose. Why?

  1. In this elo, the adc seems to just sit back and not engage when we all engage.
  2. Junglers afk farm and engage late game at bad times (theyll try to 1v1 someone fed or higher level and lose).
  3. People dont group at all.
  4. People dont push their lanes when there are 4 enemies top side.
  5. My team always, ALWAYS feeds!

There is nothing. I carry my lane, the mid lane, bot lane everything. But we never win. I have tried talking to a challenger player and spent $32 for him to teach me top in 2 hours. I did improve my kd, but I still dont win any of games. Whenever I show him my Vods, he just says, "Yeah thats an unlucky game". I give up.

You wasted 32$ on a scrub

Just watching LCS, LCK, etc can improve your play and game knowledge more than a Challenger would teach you. Challenger players, they are good at mechanic wise but most of them still lack game knowledge

He prolly just taught you how to better your mechanic and that's it LOL.

bad advice, LCS is nothing like soloQ

GhostOfTsushima2 votes

did I tell him to play like LCS? LOL is that why you're Bronze?

watching ward placement in pro play and how the players play their Champion is how you get better. Just like you would watch someone else play something to get better at it.

Maybe if you didn't spam 300 games to get a mediocre plat rank like a noob you would know that LCS players play differently in pro matches.

You make no sense LOL

Stop crying cus I make you look like an idiot

It's pretty hard to get to challenger with just good micro play, the macro game is substantially more important. And how is watching a game with two coordinated teams going to teach you more than a coach that actually spends 1 on 1 time with you? Like what? LCS is nothing like solo queue. And do you know how lcs players got where they are? Do you know what every team has? a coach

I wish people understood that watching games can teach you quite a bit of game knowledge.

I feel as though I have a lot of game knowledge, so I can see when and how people are doing well, or not, and can potentially offer suggestions as to how they might be able to do better based on that.

People tend to find things like that to be insulting, as if I am challenging them to say that I am better than them somehow.

Knowledge and practice are two different things.

Yes, it would be better if I were able to say, "Hey, you should take my advice because I am several ranks higher than you." but not being at a higher rank doesn't mean that what I say is not solid.

I like to think of it as how some coaches in other sports aren't peak level athletes themselves. You don't have to be good at executing strategy in order to understand and orchestrate a strong strategy.

The simple fact is that I haven't honestly played PVP for more than a few months now, but I have been studying the game by watching YouTubers and Pro play for a few years.

I mostly started playing just to play with friends who didn't ever want to play PVP so I was stuck against bots all the time, and it's mind-numbbingly easy, so a lot of the skills I learned I never got to really practice.

I have played less than 10 normal matches and I believe I finished out last season with 16 ranked matches in total, and placed Silver 4. I believe with my limited PVP experience, that is pretty damn good.

However, back to your advice. I heard from watching one of Bjergsen's streams that doing well in this game is really all about learning good habits, and executing them consistently.

Getting 2 hours worth of coaching from a Challenger level player will not teach you their habits, nor how to be consistent with them.

I guess you learn everything there is to know about a professional sport or any other game just by watching people. And that then allows you to compete at their level. Oh wait....

honestly, if you snowball that hard, you should be able to win the game by yourself.

Try playing more splitpushing champions

Cant win game by yourself when youre facing a Fed Twitch and a Fed Annie lmao. I shut them down sometimes, but my team still feeds them. So it doesnt matter when I shut them down.

I main Jayce, with over 800 games on him. All ive been playing.

Grouping is the real issue. Teams that occasionally defend are the one's that most likely lose.

But I know that cant be the only thing, there has to be a way that I can carry the team solo. Challenger players do it, you can pay someone to boost your account. So there must be something I am doing wrong when I cant carry the team.

The fundamental part of the game you're forgetting is team work. If however you are fed enough to carry the team, there may be a player in the enemy team that can also carry his/her team, like you said your team feeds them while you do well yourself. Then another thing which impacts on your performance is if the enemy team has better team work than your team as this could indirectly affect your performance or chances of carrying the team. Better team work would mean enemy team is stronger or am i wrong?

Other than that you can bait enemies through using your allies. So just make predictions where the enemy/s are likely to go next i.e. if your stupid support is alone in the middle of top lane farming (she is most likely to get ganked). Maybe try to make your team's mistakes less forgiving. You can also use your teams composition to think of an strategy i.e. gank enemies when they are engaged instead going 1v5 them in mid lane or in jungle. Still, easier said than done :D

Sometimes your team is reluctant to push then maybe you can push alone and if you die in the process you can complain or if you succeed in taking a tower which your team was reluctant to do so than even better.

You are correct!

A team in which every member has a 0 or negative K/D but strong communication/coordination has a decent chance to beat a team where one or two members have a positive K/D but poor teamwork.

Kills only really influence the strength of a player in two ways, gold and experience.

If a game is allowed to extend for long enough, every player will be level 18 and every player will have full build.

At this point there is no such thing as a fed player. (With the exceptions of Nasus Sion Thresh Veigar since they can scale infinitely.)

You are only relying on the strength of your champion, your build, your skills in using that champion, and your macro control.

Hi!

Try some other champions. Jayce is an amazing champion, but unless your team has a relatively bulky front line to allow you to poke from very far or a fill team of poke champs, you will have a very hard time in a big team fights.

Jayce is primarily a sniper that you want to hit the back line from a surprising angle, resulting them being lower than comfortable prior to a team fight happening and sadly in the silver 3 elo, there are barely any players willing to tank up the damage. Everyone has a "I want to kill" mentality, which often results in a tragic clash team comps.

Here are two suggestions from me:

  1. Try a huge AOE and big damage champion in mid: Brand, Ori, Lux, Syndra. (You don't need to hit everything, but just a few at the right time will turn the entire fight
  2. Either learn a tanky/bulky top laner or bring Jayce to mid. This should be fairly obvious. There are loads of tank that dishes out amazing damage while able to soak up a beating: Darius, Illoai etc

Meta shifts all the time. There was a time when Jayce top was an excellent choice in solo queue, but definitely not the current meta in a silver elo. It works in higher elo and in professional games simply because people have a better knowledge and judgement of the game flow and game logistics.

Just got done playing a tanky top laner Poppy, team fed so hard they couldnt deal damage to anyone. Our adc ended up doing the least damage on the team as well. Gonna stick with Jayce.

I feel you.. this happens alot in silver, you keep killing enemy top and bot keeps feeding...all they want is a fucking loss apparently.

Personally, I'd recommend watching SoloRenektonOnly; he tends to explain and demonstrate the basic mechanics and essentials of top-lane.

The main factors you should focus on for top-lane are:

  • Controlling the minion wave (i.e. freezing, bouncing the wave, slow-push)
  • Timing roams/teleports
  • Properly splitpushing
  • Trading (i.e. minion aggro, abusing CDs, controlling bushes)
