For everyone complaining about that RIOT "always" uses the three hit thing, consider this:

Xemeron··92 votes·4,960 views

Actually the "do 3 hits and stuff happens" mechanic is not the most used one in the latest releases.

Kindred will be the first Champion since febuary 2014, whos Q is NOT a straight line short CD Skilshot with bonus effect. Yep, that mechanic has been on every release for the last 9 CHAMPION! The last one who didnt have a "straight line slowing (most used bonus effect) Q skillshot" was Yasuo!

Actually... if we would say that Yasuos whirlwind counts (even thought its not short CD then) and ignore that Jinx and Aatrox straight line slowing skillshot" isnt Q, the last champion we have without a straight line low CD Skillshot with bonus effekt was NAMI! Released December 2012 Thats 18 Champions in a row.

I for my part are just happy that this is gone...

straight line low CD Skillshot with bonus effekt - man that's pretty broad...

He does have a point. What's with all the bonus effects? Let's get some straight nukes. Or cone shaped.

Those aren't nukes.

Those are spears of balance.

Anidan10 votes

So balanced they manage to evidently gain inertia as they travel to inflict even more damage at length. My guess at this point is that when the spear disappears after the length of the skillshot, that's the spear hitting light-speed suddenly and blazing away from our understanding. Truly a mystery of the universe.

4 sec lategame on yasuos knockup, provided you land your normal Qs, wouldn't call that a long cd, ekko has 4.2 sec with max cdr...

though i have no problem with line skillshots or 3-hit mechanics, i actually like those...

A skillshot is not exactly anything new. Hell Morgana has a straight line skillshot with a stun.

The hit 3 times x happens is VERY different and a lot more specific, and also newer (Vi was the first to have this but there was a gap until Vel'koz then Braum had it) now every other friggin champ has this, making it very uninteresting and not unique where it was previously.

Skillshots are nothing new to champs, the other thing was. Now it just feels overused. Sorry but these are not the same, and kind of a stretch to compare them.

Is it? You can do so much more with a Skillshot that "if you are in a straight line in front of me, bad stuff will happen to you!" Why not make Gnars Boomeran actually fly like a boomerang?

And BTW: Braum is 4 hits

It's the exact same mechanic. You hit 3 times, next attack triggers it. It just isn't worded that way, but it IS the exact same.

Cosnirak3 votes

Braum's takes 4 hits, the others take 3 and that's not just a matter of wording. They are NOT the exact same.

If Vayne auto attacks someone 3 times they take the bonus silver bolts damage. If Braum auto attacks someone 3 times they have been autoed 3 times and that's it, nothing special happens.

Though there is an argument to be made that the most common application in lane, q-aa-aa-aa is a 3-hit.

Still, I wouldn't buy that argument.

Cosnirak1 votes

I don't even consider that an argument, I consider that fudging the numbers. :p No other '3-hit' ability is counting the first hit as hit "0" lol. Which I'm sure is why you don't buy it either.

Also I wonder if a lot of people don't realize Braum doesn't ever have to land a Q for his stun to happen. The first hit can be an auto attack. In team fights as Braum it's often correct to go around auto attacking each enemy you can at least once while your Q is on cooldown so that as your team hits them with autos they get stunned. Heck in lane I've flashed after missing a Q just to auto someone as Braum so that my adc could get the other 3 to stun them and get a kill.

TurquoiseYoshi1 votes

What do you mean about Gnar's Q not acting like a boomerang? It flies out, and flies back. I'd say it's more of a boomerang than Sivir's Q, as at least Gnar's has a special effect when caught and doesn't just magically magnetize back to you for no reason.

CubedJustice1 votes

I think he meant it flies like an actual boomerang, which arcs back to you.

It's good for clarity when it's such a huge part of his kit. It doesn't really look too off.

(Isn't it actually a 'snare' not a 'root'?) I've head all snares (Roots?) called stuns (lux Q, Morg Q, Swain W). And I've seen a lot of low-level people think they can't do anything while trapped in them.

Now to tell them that snares aren't hard CC...

LordGeovanni2 votes

Hard cc is tricky i think roots are hard cc but doesnt leave you unable to do anything jsut only if you melee

Only stuns and displacements are hard CC, any other CC is not hard CC.

LordGeovanni2 votes

ok. just that roots take out alot of actions from both melee characters and ranged character but mostly melee and just becuause it isnt a technical stun they are allowed to be slightly longer than forever

Sire Hippington2 votes

nope, hard cc is any cc that locks you down, makeing you unable to move, so snares/roots count aswell. fiora W confirms this, as it states it stuns after blocking hard cc, and it stuns after blocking a snare

Actually hard is CC is consideret an effect that unables you to mave AND take action such as AAing/casting abilities.Roots/Snares only stop movement and some mobility spell, while some ( Ahri's R,Ez's E...) can still be used while under the effects of a sanre/roots ability. It's not exactly true that melees suffer more from roots.I mean sure they tend to be more limited when affacted, but if you land a snare on a mage/supp/ADC they just get blown up.

So to conclude,Hard CCs are: Stuns,Suppression,Airborn effects, forced actions (Charm,Fear,Fear) and Polymorph.

Sire Hippington1 votes

by that definition, polymorph isn't a hard cc, as you can still move and for me and apparently for fiora aswell, snares stay hard-cc

PokladnicaZla1 votes

Care to elaborate again why snares/roots are hard CC? And please,be detailed.

Sire Hippington1 votes

becuase they shut down your mobillity 100%. you can't move, nor use skills that could move you, inclouding J4s Q

Mobillity is the most important thing in this game, not beeing able to move AT ALL is huge, 80% of the time, a snare has the same result as a stun, especially as it most of the time is paired with high range. vs melees, it is more like 95% of the time a stun as they won't have anything in attack range.

PokladnicaZla1 votes

Many melees have ranged abilities to trade with ranged champs, while laso having the ability to survive their combo.BTW there are some mobility spell that can be used while snared. I think you are misunderstanding being unable to use spell and your victoms being out of range.

P.S. Hard CC is better than mobility.

Sire Hippington1 votes

there is no mobillity spell that can be used while snared, EZ E for example has a small cast time, if you use it right befor the snare hits you, it looks like you use it while snared, but you can't cast it while snared. and victims beeing out of range means your unable to use your skills/attacks, and you can't get into range if you have the mobillity of a tower. unless the user of the snare fails, it gives nearly the same advantage as a stun most of the time.

PokladnicaZla1 votes

Ahri' R (Kass's R aswell gotta check that) can be used while snared.

The argument Im CCed cant get close to you,is nearly the same as IM not CCed and want to close the gap to kill you.It doesn't give the same advantage as a stun, maybe it's more visible on melees but you can't call it as powerful as a stun, just because some champ are more hrut by it than others. That's like saying silences are hard CC because they make Supp/Mages and some assassin as killable as squshing a bug.

Sire Hippington1 votes

ahrie and kassa can't use their ult if snared. Kassa has a cast time just as Ez, so it might sometimes look like he can Ahrie normaly can't but it might be possible that her dashes que up and then the second gets cast even if she gets snared duering the first(same with riven Q)

The Bearded Bard2 votes

Snare and root are the exact same thing. Stun and those two are different as one just stops movement and the other stops everything.

Isn't that mumu only, though?

I feel like with it, as with polymorph, it's a one-of-a-kind ability that you can give whatever classification you want.

wow fucking amazing you managed to miss the entire point of his post because of one error and contributed nothing to the conversation

The difference between '0' and '1' is the difference between 'nothing' and 'something'. One error can mean a lot. If someone can't understand something as simple as a stun vs a root, why should the rest of their argument have any merit?

he (Narasimha) actually used 4 logical fallacies to try to prove a point that is irrelevant. I disagree with him with pretty much everything he said (The ones by Xonra )--That doesnt mean that the response given was logical or true.

this was the statment in the post i replyed to, not 'hit one target 3 times, x happens' else vayne would be the first to have that mechanic, as jax also stack for him self and not on the target.

More than one error considering Vayne had it way before Vi. There's also Xin Zhao, Jax and TF. Even Kennen has a similar mechanic.

Well lambs Q is also a skillshot, one that throws you in its direction and shoots enemies around it.

Every champ needs (ok needs may be a little too strong of a word here) a lined skillshot, and riot has decided that they want most of them to be on Q, meaning Q would be the "line skillshot" button.
