Why cant we spectate ranked games anymore?

I remember there being a thing at the top left of the home screen for LoL, you could just watch some players, diamond, master, etc. It was nice to do especially if i saw someone playing my main. Riot?

because there arent that many players in diamond + (what riot normally uses). in order for players to appear in diamond, so many more games must be lost in the lower levels so the few can climb, and with the new matchmaking system, high elo games starting every 15~50minutes, its going to be a while before enough people actually reach diamond.

this largely has to do with the LP/MMR system.

so yes, we get it, its MARCH and players still arent climbing.... why you ask? because no one at the plat 1 wants to feed and destroy their MMR at that level (except for the old challenger/master players) so they're forced to wait longer and longer.

so they're resigning to wait for others to get settled in and then when the ladder is more normal then they will want to play and climb.

just with math off the top of my head, and statistic on what % of players are in which elo, there are at any given time 100,000+ ranked games being played at the diamond level.

A more likely explanation is that riot dun fucked something up, either intentionally, or due to idiocy, or both.

there were only 3 million ranked level 30 players in 2015........... 11million total players....................

100k diamond games would mean 1million players are in diamond and actively on. maybe you're talking about worldwide?

but the servers arent connected.

with the new season those 3million drastically falls off hard, (becomes less than 1million until everyone starts playing ranked again) and puts those actual 20000 diamond plaers, (less players in masters), and all 200 challenger players all into plat 1. none of those diamond+ players play because if they lose at the plat 1 level, they actually fall down and lose their potential diamond rating against challenger players. so that challenger players can climb back to challenger.

tons in bronze, half of that in silver, half of THAT number goes up to gold. half of that number goes to plat.... etc

so just by having a million players in ranked, there should be 500k in bronze, 250k in silver, 125k in gold, 62500 in plat, and 31250 in diamond + BUT, because everyone is in plat 1, you need tons of games played in order for all of those players to climb up to where they belong.

in addition you need all of the lower ranks to lose that many more games such that the higher ups can climb.

all in all, players just arent in diamond right now. and there arent enough games played to warrant showing a ranked game over some aram or normals.

if we wait longer the problem will resolve in time.

more games need to be played across all divsions in order for there to be a sizable amount of players in diamond to pick games to watch

Where the hell did you get that information from? According to Forbes, there are "27 million people play the game daily, while concurrent players peak at 7.5M. In total, 67 million players play the game every month." I'm pretty sure that of the 67 million players (ignoring the ranked people who take breaks), there are more than 3 million ranked in North America, which is where a large bulk of the players are.

ranked =/= normals, custmon, and co op vs ai.

in addition those are accounts which log in, not people which actively participate in a game. (dont forget its 10 accounts per each game)

you'll notice there are 1,765,487 ranked accounts on the NA ladder, more than half of which are inactive.

I know the IEM casters had issues with Transforming champions not being shown in the right state. Cougar Nidalee throwing spears, Spider Elise throwing cocoons, etc. Maybe Riot disabled it for ranked to avoid some bug reports on known issues.

I dont know. My joke response is since blue trinkets and such now last forever until destroyed Riot removed spectate from ranked _"because it created the possibility of 3rd party intervention that had the potential to benefit a team." _

The reality is we don't know.

It's still there. In the client, the tab that says Spring Finals Tickets, just click the arrows to swap to Ranked Matches. There just aren't any Ranked matches going on right now though.
